Wooded area. Police are in the area to make sure that the children at a Childcare Center are safe. That is the latest from eke oakland. Henry, we can see a live chopper shot from above, and it is a wooded area clearly. You can see where there are evidence markers there. The first witness said that this body was actually on fire. Have Police Confirmed that to you . Reporter sources have confirmed that at the point when officers first arrived the body was no longer on fire. So at some point it does appear that this boy had been set on fire, in which case obviously that certainly suggests the possibility of foul play. But again the coroner has to conduct an autopsy to determine exactly how this woman died and whether she was dumped here or killed here at this park. This wooded area remains cordoned off. It is right near the creek which runs through this park. Henry lee live in oakland, thank you. Gain Sonoma County an investigation is underway at the campus of Sonoma State University. This after a partially buried body was discovered yesterday. Ktvus rob roth joins us live. Reporter well, ted, we just got words moments ago from the Sheriffs Department that the body that they found is that of a male. No other details. Now to give you some bearings, we are standing in the student parking lot on the north end of campus. Behind me is a wooded area. And about 200 yards in, that is where they found the shallow grave. You can probably see everything better from the chopper. Investigators have been on the scene all day. They have been going through the evidence and trying to determine exactly what happened here. We have been processing the crime scene, gathering evidence, taking photographs, making diagrams, taking aerial pictures. Reporter the Sonoma County landscaper uncovered a body. To my knowledge theres no missing people on campus. We do after group of people combing through missing person reports. Once we unearth the body and we get a physical description well match that against local missing persons. Reporter now, the Sonoma County sheriffs coroner will be doing the autopsy. They say they may begin that as early as tonight and perhaps then we will get a better understanding of who the person is and how they got to be in that shallow grave. Also, we talked to many students who came by here, and they say that given this, theyre very, very concerned about their safety, particularly when they go in and out of classes at night. I can only imagine. Rob roth, thank you, live at Sonoma State University. The San FranciscoCity Attorney today filed a lawsuit against the developer of the troubled millennium towers saying the builder hid crucial information from buyers. Reports began to surface this summer that the 58story high rise has sunk as much as 16 inches and is leaning around 15 inches. One homeowner recently posted this video online showing a marble rolled across the floor, actually rolling back towards him. The suit claims that at the time the highend condos went on sale the developer knew that the tower was sinking. Yet they went ahead and sold condominiums for a handsome profit without telling the bayers about the situation, even though they were legally required to disclose it. Millennium partners claim the lawsuit san effort by the city to, quote, duck its responsibilities. It says the sinking is caused by excessive pumping of groundwater at the Transbay Transit Center being built next door. So what does this mean Going Forward . Joining us now is legal analyst michael cardoza. What good does it for the city to sue the developer . Keep in mind ted what theyre doing here is a cross complaint. They didnt start this litigation. What the city is saying is if when the city is sued, now that it is being sued, they want other people to recom pens them for any monies that they lose. Thats why the City Attorney, herrera, filed this cross complaint. Im telling you, this is a legal quagmire thats going to go on for years and years. Its like the city inspector knew there was a potential problem and they approved building permits. What you are saying is theyre putting everybody on notice that if they get held responsible theyre going to share the love, if you will, and make others pay for it, specifically the developer. You are spot on. Keep in mind that on natomas street, which is just a stones throw away from where this building is, the building said previously to a builder, were not going to give you a permit, its not safe the way you are planning to do the foundation, not going down to bedrock. We will not give you a permit. A number of years later what do they do . They turn around and give it to the millennium with the same Geo Technical people using the same foundational plans. So you wonder why they here in trouble. But the city gave them a permit to do. This and thats going to be one of targets here, although everybody seems to be pointing to the transbay terminal and saying, well, you dug a big hole so you caused this mess. But the counter argument to that by the transbay is, uhuh, that building started to sink well before we started to dig that hole. Right. Now, the marble video that was posted by one of the owners, i dont know if you have seen it, but its very dramatic. It shows a marble going up, and then coming all the way back. Its clearly an issue. If you were an other than, what would you do in this situation . If you sell your place, you are probably going to take a loss. But, boy, i dont know if i could sleep at night. Well, you know, thats the big issue. There are people that say what if an earthquake hits . Theres a group of people that say, its not say. Other people are saying say. You have to make that decision. But one thing i do know, theyre going to be suing. And i know right now there are a number of lawsuits. Theres a Class Action Lawsuit thats been filed. Now, not all the homeowners have joined. They will be doing things like joe montana owns a place there. Pence owns a place there what. The lawyers are going to be doing is to get them in their particular lawsuit to give their lawsuit a little more attention. This has been given complex litigation status. That means one judge has been appointed, and he will take this case from beginning to end. And as all these lawsuits come in from each of the owners, he may make them all join in to one. But he will watch over this litigation, because as i say, its going to be so complex, its going to have so many tentacles, its going to be worth watching. Oakland police and the fbi have been investigating a cold case homicide that stretches back a dozen years. Agents from both of those agencies are working together at a scene at 7th and maritime street near the port of oakland. Ktvu reporter jesse gary was first on scene with details of the investigation. He joins us live. Jesse. Reporter guys, throughout the course of the day we have seen a number of federal and local agents at this site. They have been using heavy earth moving equipment. That building and the entire site sits on land owned by Union Pacific railroad. Officials say the renewed search efforts are part of an investigation into an oakland homicide from 2004. Oakland crime scene officers first came here yesterday, then returned today and asked the fbi to assist with forensic analysis of anything thats found. When we have a loss of life, we never stop, we never close the case. It always remains on the part persons and we always are hopeful that we can go to that next investigative lead. And thats what were doing here. Reporter in addition to Oakland Police and the fbi, investigators from the county Sheriffs Office and the d. A. s office are here, but no one will say when in 2004 the homicide took place or if theres an arrest in that case. I have learned from sources that the victim san adult woman from the oakland area but officials are not releasing her identity. Again at this hour crews have brought in shovels. First of all, explain would this is. Its called mile mile myelitis. They get weakness in an arm or leg, and the young boy that died actually was kind of paralyzed from the neck down. And this is something that is very rare. What are the odds of getting this . But theres a cluster up in seattle, so its a bit of a mystery. Less than one in a million. It is extremely rare. But you are right, all of these cases together up in washington make you wonder what is connecting these dots. The cdc and state Public Health officials are studying this, getting all the information we can to try to figure that out. And the origin of this is believed to be basically tied to potential fecal matter getting into the system. That accurate . Maybe. One of the suspicions is that its related to an enterovirus. Weve seen this. Less last year. This year were a little less than 20 14. And there was an association at that tame with enterovirus. This isnt proven, but entero means intestinal. They are transmitted basically by poop. So wash your hands. Who is the lead object this . Would it be the cdc . Thats a good question. Im not exactly sure. At the Childrens Hospital the state Public Health officials are certainly going to be involved. The cdc is going to come in also. A lot of information gathering at this point to try to connect the dots and answer these questions. What age group is at risk . So the disease is mainly under 21. Probably the average age is five. Anywhere from six months to teenagers. So the advice that you have, wash your hands, but otherwise theres no there is no cure, right . So at this point it manifests itself and works itself through . Were not exactly sure. Theres an Association Maybe with this poliolike virus. You can always wash your hands. Thats probably the best thing we can do to prevent that. Its pretty rare. One in a million. Its nothing i would freak out about. But we do need to look into this outbreak and figure it out. All right, dr. Larry, appreciate it as always.
