cleanup will get ends way after wet crept flood in the creek. tara moriarty is in the neighborhood this morning. how much of an environmental hazard is this at this point? >> reporter: it's pretty big one -- this creek, of course, empties into lake merritt. we know this started off as a minor repair job to seal a pipeline, and now it is a major cleanup effort all because someone left a valve open. fbns said one of its contractors was working just above mountainview cemetery when they accidentally pumped 120 cubic yards of wet concrete into glenn echo creek. it's the main creek emptying into lake merritt. >> unfortunately in the stretch of creek where the crept flood, any of the wildlife underneath would have died with that crept that flood over. our biologists were here on site, and we think it mostly was insects that were here. this is usually a drier creek with the drought we've been having. >> reporter: cleanup work started yesterday afternoon, and is expected to take about three days to get the crept out of the stream bed. they say they have launched an investigation to see what led up to the spill. crews should be back out here at 8:00 this morning. live from oakland, i'm tara moriarty. a search that forced a shelter -- the video was shot about 9:30. this is at the heritage inn express motel on west eighth street. police say two robbery suspects, a man and woman were chased into the motel's parking lot. they were found by a canine unit, and arrested. police have not said where the robbery took place. happening today, ahead of a new report questioning security at fso, airport officials will discuss safety up grades. the 10:00 a.m. news conference will talk about future and present up grades to perimeter security at the airport. the improvements come after a homeless woman was arrested last month on charges she walked on to the runway. and in a separate case, serial stowaway marlin hartman was arrested several times last year for trying to sneak on to different flights. ''the associated press" finished a study examining breaches. that report found, from january of 2004 to january of this year, there were 37 breaches at fso, by far, the most of any airport. philadelphia was second, with 25, followed by lax at 24. san jose rounded out the top five with 18 breaches, which included a teenager last year hiding in a plane's wheel well and flying to hawaii. today, vice president joe biden and his wife will arrive in the bay area. the vice president is visiting northern california to help raise money for the democratic congressional campaign. this is a by-invitation only event. it's should for 7:00 tonight. tomorrow he will visit a pg and e credibilitier in oakland to talk about job training. this will be biden's third visit to the bay area for political fundraisers last year. the vice president's wife will be at the denza college in coopertino. . she says she want to hear directly from the students. dr. buy ten is very familiar with community colleges. she actually still teaches english at northern virginia community college. today police in south carolina will release dash cam video of last saturday's officer-involved shooting that claimed the life of an unarmed african american man. a cell phone video recorded by a bystander of the shooting has caused a nationwide stir. it shows police officer michael slager firing eight times at michael scott as he was walking away. . >> the police who are policeing the citizens of this country are using deadly force with far too great ease. >> the city of north charles will now equip police officers with body cameras. the video will reportedly show the moments leading up to the shooting. sunnyvale police are now examining surveillance video following a deadly officer-involved shooting. at 11:00 yesterday morning, police responded to reports of a robbery in a liquor store on tasman drive near the lawrence expressway. police say an officer arrived to find the suspect in a back ally holding a knife. police say the man refused to put the knife down, and when he started to approach, the officer opened fire. >> i was just standing, holding a knife. we just heard the officers screaming "put the knife down." he went towards it knife. that's when they shot him. >> the suspect, a white male in his mid-20s, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. police say the knife -- a knife was recovered at the scene. witness cell phone video and nearby surveil lance video has been confiscated as part of the investigation. time is 4:36 now. and a state commission has implemented new regulations to help california save water. the state energy commission unanimously approved higher water efficiency standards for new a few sets, toilets, urinals. new bathroom faucets can use no more than 1.2 gallons per minute. that's down from the current 2.2 gallons per minute, and kitchen faucets dropped to 1.8 gallons per minute. it also sets a maximum flow for toilets. now, the energy commission acted under the authority of governor brown's executive order last week. it made 25% water reductions mandatory. the commission says the new efficiency standards will save more than 10 billion gallons of water in the first year. well scientists across california say the state desperately needs up grades to most of its water systems. seismologists say the state's water distribution system could collapse in a major earthquake. that would leave millions of californians without any water. besides personal property damages, that could cost california $40 billion in lost jobs, economic production, and water supplies. seismologists have been warning for many years about the possible collapse of the delta levee system during a major quake. today a group of people is teaming up for the first dollars volunteer day of the season. the goal is to pick up trash, clean up san francisco's dollars park. the group is made up of marriott hotel workers, rec and park workers, and volunteers. the cleanup begins at 1:00, and anyone else interested in volunteering there is asked to meet the group at the entrance to the playground. well the giants have won their first series of the season thanks in part to a rookie pitcher. chris heston filling in for an injured matt cane -- get his first major league win. good for him. casey mcgee hit a two-one home run in the 9th to give the joins some insurance, seal a victory over the diamond backs. the giants are heading to, pam, san diego for a 4-game series. heston is scheduled to start the giants' home opener on monday. bay area native mark hannah collected his first major league hit a3-run double. second baseman tyler landendorf -- who are these guys?
