The Nonprofit Organization that has a they have their season kickoff tomorrow nightpe ceremonies, taking place at the recreation and wellness center. Includes over 200 student athletes grades 38. A lot of people, volunteering their time to help make that happen. And honestly, i remember at my high school the girls were better than the boys. Oh, yeah. They dont scrunch. I played basketball. Theyll knock you to the ground. I was very competitive in basketball. My father was a coach and taught me how to envision before i would toss the ball, so im not bad. Im a derent shot. Brief story about my basketball, 8yearsold, ymca in boston area, playing by myself and this other kid comes up to me, would you like to play a game of 21 . Im sure. He beat me you still remember that, shawn . Because he had one arm. First up this morning not a lie. Now i see why you remember that story. Why i played baseball. Yes, exactly. Nice. Well work on it. No. There we go. Well toss the shot. Station casino has gone pink for the month of october. Its the company wide initiative. The project is called project pink which raises awareness and fun for the fight against Breast Cancer. Here with how to help is lori nelson from station casinos. Great having you. Well be laying bricks all over the place, build a house by the time were done. Lets talk about project pink. This is yearly. This is our seventh annual, our biggest labor of love. You have been so supportive. It started out seven years ago, one of our pastry chefs at red rock, his mother had sadly lost her battle with cancer, and he wanted to do something to give he year oughted these pink pastries and sold them inside the cafe at red rock. Who you say we love that, you know. And everything you know, were family owned and operated, so giving back to the community is in our dna. And so we just loved what he did, and said can we grow this and do more . And so in year two we started pinking out the casino and every year it has grown. We started doing poker tables and then we added pink being oh packs, and now weve gone at the bowling alleys, the cafes, the stake houses. You can do pink fajitas in the mexican restaurant. And so we really just grown this and proudly to date we donated more than 360,000 to the fight against Breast Cancer. That is awesome. That is fantastic. You know what, for the guest its easy, come and bring as if you go to something designated pink know that were donating a portion of the proceeds. Its not pink just for the sake of being pink. You know youre giving back. Thats right. Tell bus the two charities that the proceeds will be going to this year. We have proudly partnered with susan g. Komen and the American Cancer Society, and they have been our partners for many years. And we have really invested in both charities, and at the end of the month, the last sunday of the month well host yet again the miking strides against Breast Cancer walk for the American Cancer Society at red rock. Its just you know, its so unfortunate because each of us can probably name a friend or Family Member that has unfortunately been diagnosed or having to be treated for Breast Cancer, and so weve all been touched in some way. And so i think our guests have really loved being able to get involved and know that i was going to grab a dessert anyway, ill just make sure its pink, because the company is giving up the proceeds. You brought in lets go back to where it started, which was the dessert. Lets go to the treats. We have the picture, but the real thing is its the real deal right there. Killing me. What do we have . Whats your favorite thing . So you know, its funny, because im a rice crispy treat girl but the cake pops are brandnew this year. The pastry c up, like oh, thats oh, my goodness. The flint stone push up . Thats what it is. It really allows our team to get super creative. You know, weve extended it to our spas and salons, and you know, mani s p ediss, and even our kuhny group has gotten involved. Bowling is getting involved. Its fun and you know, there just hasnt been delighted by this. Where is this happening . All the station casino properties. The major ones. So sunset station, palace station, boulder station, the fiesta, Spring Valley ranch in red rock, the entire month of october. Awesome. Fantastic. And another way youre raising money is by having the special events such as the silent that i happen to go to last week at green valley ranch. This was and i creedible experience. I took this photo out o lawn of green valley ranch. First of all beautiful, beautiful evening. And the community was coming together. Young, old, in shape, not in shape. Im so glad you got to experience it. We host this event once a month, pool side at red rock, and at green valley ranch. We extended project pink and the organizers got so into it so i challenged them, i said if you can get your participants to for every person. Wow. Who shows up in pink to our project pink initiative. Thats fantastic. Next week on testify is red rock, and im hoping to see it all pinked out there, too. The event has really grown. I found out about it through friends, and now they have invited other friends, and people are bringing their kids. Its a thing now. Shawn, you and you and marsha should come. I should go. Before we get into your special talents as a healer, as an addiction specialist tell us about the conference going on. Well, Lifestyle Intervention conference is a yearly conference put on by the american addiction centers. And they bring experts and specialists from all over the world that talk about not only what we think of as a chemical addictions, drug and alcohol, but also process additions, gallon bling, sex, technology, eating, and we also have a variety of Mental Health issues. There is really something in the wide spectrum for everyone interested in the helping professions and even some who arent. And it also will have continuing Education Credits for a number of groups and great opportunity to network with everybody who is involved in all of these activities. Growing by leaps and bounds. Many people think when they hear treatment they think of what theyve seen on tv, a bunch of people with a dimly lit room, Drinking Coffee in a circle and talking about their feelings. Its not necessarily the way it has to be. Tell bus your practice and therapy and the way that changes, almost destroys that perception. There are benefits to it. Doesnt have to be that way. No, it doesnt. Because sitting and talking like were doing now youre using your very conscious mind and inner critic and its very easy to keep saying the same stories over and over and over again. And getting stuck. Because we just protect ourselves, and we monitor ourselves. And so when i started working with clients and ive been in the field over 30 years, when i started working with clients i found that for some clients it really left them limited. If you could get them to do touch with i love talking about right and left brain, this is left brain. If you go into right brain, you go into the marriage i nail realm. You go into where i think the inner healer lives. A lot of times we dont know how to access it. If you go into image those places beyond words. If you do some visioning and put things on canvas or on paper that the vision boards that weve seen. Not just vision boards but images. One of the examples from years had awful trauma history. I dont think ive ever seen somebody with so much. Oh, my. She had a dream. And so we started with having her paint the dream. And the dream started with you know the ships in the bottle. And in this case she had a bird in the bottle and it was a small bird. You could see how she felt in creating it. And we could talk about it so there was that. But the um acknowledge spoke and we talked about and created imagery on the canvas, of what the bridge would be like. And thats so powerful because the very ability to create the bridge in some form is an affirmation that a bridge exists. Sometimes we think we cant get out of here and the very fact even if all you do is draw a bunch of daisies at least somewhere there is a sense of somewhere to go. So she created a sense of braining free from the bottle. And the final image she created was the praise, like a hawk or eagle, and it was with fiery colors, red and oranges and yellow, so it had the feel of rising from the ashes. You could see on her face and in her body how she rose up into this new image. And all the talk therapy in the world would not have taken her to that state the way she arrived there. Then she had the image to take reminding her. Its so incredibly interesting what you do. Tackling peoples challenges from different angles. Exactly. Youre able to depending on each person, each person is different in the way theyre emotionally connected to something. Even to get connected, because again if you work with both the imagey and with the body, one of the things that additions are based on being disconnected from your feelings. Thats why people kind of addiction. So the very fact that they Start Connecting with their body and feeling whats there and start to create, reembodies them. People will be able to take a lot from this conference. It is incredible. Im doing my little shtick. But i could talk about it for hours. Beyond that, there are really so many, and i was looking through the list of presentations and on relationships, as well. There are things on issues with love and sex, and lgbtq issues, and there are the process addictions, the gambling, the eating. Even one on hoarding. And you know, working with young adults. Because the reality is in our life now, all of the additions show up everywhere. There is nobody that hasnt been touched by them. And this conference really has presentations on the wide gamut so everybody would get something. Its fascinating to hear that the community the Healing Community is coming together, so rich and so much communication going on. Thank you for sharing. Thank you so much. Absolutely. And i went up, and i got some favors from an unattractive girl. And i said you know, enough with college. Im doing comedy. I want to ask about the favors but im going to ask you i like your spirit. Look at this one. Holy moley. Do you remember any of the jokes you told . I remember one about the exxon valdez. He wanted me to sing. There we go. .
