ot on the valley's historic west side. there's no suspect in custody at this time. it happened last night around 8 thirty near mlk and owens. police arrived to find two people shot. both were taken to u-m-c where one of them died. the shooting also prompted road investigation continues, and police don't have many details about the suspect. we'll keep you updated on any information that comes down this morning. a valley woman is trying to make her husbands dying wish come true. 60-year-old heriberto diaz was shot and killed last saturday while walking home from work. the family held a car wash yesterday near bonanza and nellis. 15- thousand dollars so they can bury heriberto in mexico next to his mother. his wife--maria--is confident they will reach their goal--and also believes police will find the people responsible for her husband's death. "from what i can see, they are working hard on it. my neighborhood. i see them stopping everybody, you know, in the neighborhood." the family will be holding the car wash again today from 10am to 4pm in the parking lot of k-mart on bonanza and nellis. an update this morning--on a man considered armed and dangerous the nye county sheriff's office says--21-year-old cody barnes is now in custody. police say barnes tried to kill his girlfriend friday afternoon after he saw her with another man. she survived and was able to get away. barnes was arrested in ventura california. the girls mother--kristy finnegan-- was also arrested in metro arrested six teens who they believe stole b-b guns from a walmart yesterday. the teens took off in their car-- but later abandoned it near fort. apache and sunset when officers arrived. the suspects then started running--but were eventually caught-- and taken into custody. police were concerned about the theft since several realistic-looking bb guns were stolen. and metro was called out to the scene of a bad crash--near desert inn and mojave. the driver of this gray kia optima first crashed into an suv-- then--hit a 60-year-old man on a bike-- before finally crashing into a light pole. this happened yesterday afternoon. the bicycle rider was taken to the hospital. no word yet on his condition. the driver of the kia stayed on scene--and is cooperating with authorities. ahead today... hollywood's biggest show---the oscars! and las vegas is getting in on the celebrations. for the seventh year, "variety the children's charity" will host an oscar viewing party at "variety salutes hollywood starts at 4-pm with the red carpet and pre-show coverage. this is all happening inside the brenden theaters . 13 action news anchor dayna roselli will actually be co-hosting the show! tickets are 25-dollars if you'd like to attend. hollywood is in full preparation now for its biggest awards show. this year, buzz over bold-faced names that could strike oscar gold for the first time. but also controversy over who wasn't nominated, with some prominent celebs sitting this year's show out--- due to a lack of diversity. ((ad-lib)) ((ad-lib)) a henderson man has been death of a woman crossing boulder highway earlier this the highway is one of the valley's most dangerous roads and tragedy is becoming all too common. 13 action news reporter david schuman has more with what's being done to make boulder highway safer. pkg eric leppard has turned himself into police for stealing a car and hitting a woman who was walking outside of a crosswalk. officers said speed was a factor in her death. what used to be a changing speed limit on boulder highway is now consistent throughout -- 45 miles per hour. there's no speed limit to them." new to boulder highway are speed radars that show you how fast you're going and plenty of speed limit signs. 002826 erin breen "in our community we seem to have a disregard for speed limits to start with" 13 action news viewers chimed in on the changes. gerald harrelson tweeted it's probably a good idea but people will probably still speed. carlos agreed, tweeting that a traffic expert erin breen says 45 miles per hour is a start. more ideas are in the works and one could be as simple as a mindset of the people traveling it by changing it to boulder boulevard." for now...breen says there are more police on boulder highway..ready to pull speeders over. now, we asked if lowering the limit even more could be a solution. our expert says it's unlikely to happen because some drivers would follow the limit while others would still be going 60--making things even more unsafe. new this morning.. police in salt lake city, utah are investigating an officer-involved shooting local media reports officers intervened in an altercation--and shots were fired. witnesses say a 16-year-old boy was hit by bullets. after the shooting, several people started rioting, throwing rocks and tossing several people were agitated in the crowd. our officers started arriving on scene, encountered a lot of hostile people upset about what had taken place we're told several people were detained. witnesses also telling our abc- affiliate in salt lake city, the person shot had been drinking and carrying some kind of weapon. that person's condition is unknown at this time. police continue their investigation this morning. also new this morning... a ku klux rally turns violent in california. k-k-k demonstrators and counterprotestors started fighting--right in the middle of the streets in anaheim yesterday. police say two k-k-k members were stomped on the ground and three protestors were stabbed in all the chaos. :12-:17 nats a shouting match led up to the fight , but it quickly turned bloody.
