Two firefighters have suffered minor injuries in the fire. Fire imminent threat to rail traffic, railroads in that area as well as homes. Firefighters in the initial attack phase on this fire. Theyve already assigned 500 people to work this fire. Right now theyre saying their main concerns is the continued hot weather and the winds in this area. We can tell in this area that there are lots of gusty winds, as weve been heading down the road, as were trying to make our way to this fire. As weve seen in the live pictures from abc7, it is burning in heavy brush, thick greenery that can burn for a long time there. Firefighters are still in the initial attack phase. 500 firefighters already assigned to the fire, expect that number to be growing throughout the night as they continue to try to get a handle on this fire, keep it from spreading too much. Its already burned 5500 acres. Were going to continue heading down the road to monitor this going to create. Reporting live, Bryan Callahan, 13 action news. Thank you, brian. I want to talk about the traffic situation right now. Because we are talking about a complete closure of the 15, in both directions. Closed actually different spots. Northbound at kenwood, southbound at ranchero. The closure is between the fire burning right now in the cajon pass and bar stow. The problem are talking about a closure, cars are going to be stuck on the freeway, and just about a year ago last july, we saw 64 cars completely burned because of the cajon fire pass. That was last july. Again, just not just 64 cars, we have 7 homes burning, all because of a 7square mile fire. Just to give you a little bit of perspective. Thats about 1,000 acres less than the fire we are already seeing burden of proofing right now. People being stuck in traffic. Were talking about a serious danger. Following our abc7, our station, sister station in l. A. , were already seeing the fire skipping the 15 in certain areas, this is very, very dangerous right now. If you can avoid the 15, i absolutely would, and we are seeing just about 100,000 people in town right now for the magic market fashion industry, a big show in town. Lots of people coming in town, and leaving around this time. It is closing in on rh if you can avoid the 15, i absolutely would. A live look on the 15 in nevada, this is right near gene, not a lot of cars on the road. But everything is okay right in town right now. Theres a live look in prince, things are okay. But, again, if you can avoid the 15 out in toward california, you absolutely want to. 3 38 now, switch gears, bryan, to you. Watching closely to see what we can get so far hasnt reached the valley. We know we have certainly a possibility of seeing that through tomorrow. And maybe another day or two before it all clears out. So as long as that fire is still going, and we have that strong south westerly flow, so far, its been anywhere from 17 currently to 26 Miles Per Hour as far as the gusts are concern. Peak gusts to 30. That will help to bring it this way. Heres what were expecting for tonight. Still th gusty conditions, more breezy than anything else, the southwesterly flow continues, air quality is relatively good across the valley. Right now, metro is trying to figure out how a mans body was found at air force base and whose body that was. It is not clear who he was or how he ended up at that base . Leaving them in a burning home appeared in court for the first time. Were getting a better idea of why this brutal attack happened. Hear a report from one of the suspects, details how Police Believe he and one of the victims were trafficking drugs. One had ties to a mexican drug cartel. They think the family was owed money. And when mario threatened possible pay back from friends in mexico, the attacked first. They were left found, beaten and stabbed. He and his daughter died from their injuries. The three men arrested are facing a long list of charges. Were on top of a major developing story out of louisiana at this hour. The governor says 40,000 homes have been impacted by the historic floods. The search for survivors has been recovered from the floodwaters in baton rouge. 30,000 rescued, many packed in shelters with rivers rising. Theyre warning residents the danger isnt over yet. Kristina, a neighbor survived hurricane katrina, and for them the devastation this time is even worse. It is nothing like this. People, a big area, but this is a whole town washed away overnight. The end of your life, end of your world, having to like that. We worked so hard for it. The rain has stopped. But the rising tides and rivers, streams, and bayous means the flooding continues. Were monitoring a wildfire burn anything burning in Southern California. 5500 acres have burned in the wildfire. It is moving fast. Firefighters have been injured.
