I visited a place called the raw bar. It was a g gat, great two weeks s of just contemplation and prayer and gratitude and, you know and you made a new friend . I made a wonderful new friend. She was coming over for lunch, and she stayed five hours. Thats almost like yours and mine. Our first lunch. We were five and a half hours. Okay. Go on. We were five and a half hours. I think what this survey is showing is initially you do have these very positive feelings because you just are out of something that has been totally unhappy. Unhappy for such a long time, but the reality is that you do begin to deal with a lot of those fears and you have to figure it out. You haveo work it out. Then eventually you get to that place where there is joy once again. Something you probably have not had for a very long time. It depends on the details, doesnt it . If somebody leaves you for, say, another person, thats pretty devastating. You got to get over that, the rejection part of that. If you have children i have two. I have an 11yearold and 13yearold now, but they were 5 and 8. How tough that was decision . It makes it it makes it so much more difficult, and obviously i think a lot of people stay in marriages because theyre worried about the kids, but i dont know on reflection whether one is better than the other. I think unhappy parents make unhappy if you have children, i think certainly it is a factor to look at whether you should keep working on that marriage and whether you can fall in love again and make it work. However, if you are going to be in a situation of where you just are roommates and you are doing it for the kids, i can tell i have seen enough therapy cases where that can really hurt the kids much, much more. I have been interviewing a bunch of couple that is have been married for 50 plus years they all did say a couple of they said, number onon they didnt plan on loving each other forever. They just agreed to love each other tomorrow. They also they all said this. They werent of the generation where you threw something out if it was broken. They all were sort of nodding. I am noticing in the couple i thought i wonder if we jump too quick sometimes. Its funny. The show this season abbys message is about positivity and, you know, trying to make the best of whatever situation youre in. Split conn, because they have divorce conventions. Shes, like, i know, i read your ok and i did this and i just got divorced. It was just too much work. Thats not her message at all. It is a last resort. At the end of the day its a last resort. This season you see that she went in with sort of a euphoria in the first season. Now its getting real. In the reality divorce when it ends, its not really the end of the experience. Right. You may be ininherapy with your kids for another two years. Right. You may be in court for a very long time too. You really should give your marriage everything that you can. Dont give up. Just do everything possible, and then if it has to en at least you dont have to look back and say i wish i could have, what if i had.
