"the fact that the best and the brightest from all over the world come to our country generation after generation and make our nation stronger. we sell ourselves short by forcing 11 million of our neighbors into the shadow economy. i believe in comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for all and in the mean time i intend to use the president's executive authority to keep families together where ever possible," said former maryland governor and presidential candidate, martin o'malley. one supporter asked o'malley how he intends to influence foreign governments so they take on american values, like human rights. "there is some republican bad issues about a specific religion, which is not an american value. so this kind of issues, we are really concerned," said o'malley supporter, awal said. in the past few days, o'malley found out he did not qualify to be on the ohio primary ballot. republican ted cruz will be campaigning in iowa next week. he's planning to visit 36 counties in six days. one of his stops will take him to dordt college, in sioux center on tuesday, january 5th. he'll speak at the de yager activity center on campus from 6 until 8:30 p.m. democrat hillary clinton plans to be in sioux city on tuesday for a 2:15 event at the orpheum theatre. the event goes until 4 p.m. president obama is reportedly moving ahead with plans to use his executive tighten gun laws. in this election year ... the president knows he has no chance of getting the cooperation of congress. so tomorrow ... he's meeting with his attorney general to map out what he can do - legally. brian moore has the story from washington. (two second pause) audio outcue: "brian mooar, nbc news, washington." >> it's not clear when the - but he has scheduled a this thursday in suburban virginia. a group of protestors have occupied a federal building at the national wildlife refuge in oregon. the small group says they're protesting for ranchers' rights. they insist the protest is peaceful, and they are quote "not a threat to anybody." the occupation came after a peaceful march and a rally in nearby protestors were showing support for dwight hammond and steven hammond -two ranchers who california prison. "it is the people's facility owned by the people and it has been provided for us to come together and unite and making a hard stand against this overreach, this taking of the people's land resources," said ammon bundy, protestor. an f-b-i spokesperson said they were aware of the situation at the refuge, but made no further comment. after a chilly day fog is developing for more on that, we'll toss it over to chief meterologist ron demers clouds moved in on our sunday for many of us as temperatures were quite a bit cooler than saturday only topping out in the 20s. we could see areas of fog form sunday night and visibilities may be a bit limited early on monday as well. we'll have to be careful of some slick conditions monday morning because of some freezing fog. highs will again only be in the 20s on monday but tuesday should be a bit warmer as a stronger south wind should bring highs into the low 30s.
