Matt and sheila, it was an emotional day in court. 19yearold heaven zevenbergen, and 18year old angelica perez, learned their fate following the heist, inside a Security National bank branch, back in august. National bank branch located inside hyvee on hamilton boulevard. Miss perez left the bank, miss zevenbergen feigned passing out, in order to give miss perez more time to escape and flee the scene. Perez had entered the bank in disguise and handed a note to zevenbergen who worked as a teller there, saying that she had a gun. Perez left with 10 thousand dollars and their actions left a workplace rattled. Malicious act changed the workplace dynamic, said mandi sievers, from the Security National bank. Within one week, the bank lost two employees. Others requested to be relocated. Perez, who was also described as an exceptional student, is a former member of the East High School Chamber Choir and speech team. The judge sentenced zevenbergen and perez to up to 5 years in prison. The judge said if he had given them probation, rather than prison time, it would have sent a bad message to others wanting to commit similar crimes.
