Im told by a witness that the suspect actually crashed his vehicle into the Center Divider of the highway and took off running. Thats when he was hit by car. We did talk to metro about how long these road closures are going to last. Listen as the captain, we asked him about this and his answer. First well get the southbound lanes open and then after weve got some of those southbound lanes open, then well work on portions of the northbound 95. Reporter those southbound lanes expected to open a little more quickly because the body heading on the northbound lanes. That officer currently be treated in a hospital. At this point we havent been condition. Police say the incident happened this morning a few blocks south of i40. An outside agency will be handling the investigation now following the Kingman Police department policy. Jim now to new jersey where state and federal transportation investigators are on the scene trying to figure out what caused a commuter train to speed flight the station and crash through it this morning. Marie lets give you live images from the east coast. At least one person has been are several police and transportation officials in the area as we speak. Nbcs Chris Pollone is in the area with the latest. Reporter witnesses say things went from calm to chaos in an instant. Just a haze of kind of smoke and then everything was dusty and dirty and, you know, people started crying. A few started screaming. Reporter it happened during rush hour just before nine at one of the busiest train stations in the new york area. Passengers say a final stop never slowed as it entered the station. He came at a high rate of speed, went through the bumper block, through the air, took the ceiling out. It was horrific. It was an explosion of concrete, dust, electrical wires. We didnt see anything because the lights went out and we just felt it was more than a jolt. Like everyone was thrown to the other side. Reporter about 250 people were on the train. Authorities say one woman died police and passengers all raced to help as the walking wounded made their way to safety. The ceiling came down. The columns came town. A couple people buried under the rubble. Picked me up and passed me to somebody else through the window. Reporter investigators scramble to figure out what went wrong and whether the crash could have been prevented. The train came in at much too high rate of speed. Chris pollone, nbc news. Jim the Nevada Supreme Court has ruled that nevadas voucher style Education Savings Account program is unconstitutional. There have been a lot of parents waiting on this ruling to figure out where theyre going send their kids next year. The program allowed students who were enrolled in a Public School for at least 100 days to move to a private school of their choice the state was going to pitch in about 5,000. Justices ruled 4two that the program was unlawfully drawing money thats allocated for Public Schools. State gaming Officials Say gambling revenue dropped five percent in our state thanks in large part to a dip in revenue on the strip. Nevada gaming control board says the states casinos won just over 860 million in august. I feel bad but im wearing heels today. So i really couldnt go on a bike. This is pretty cool though. There are 21 stations downtown. This is one of them. These are the bikes. Everything you need of course. That all important bell then theres even a basket to put your groceries, a purse, maybe even a small dog. Just take it and go. Well it is a little more co you pay over here. This is the kiosk. This whole system is powered by the sun. It really has never been easier to take to the streets of downtown to commute, sight see or shop. It is the first of its kind system in las vegas. It allows you to rent bicycles with a credit card and then really return them to any station downtown. So there are 180 bicycles and 21 stations across the downtown area. They lock into these special longterm goal of downtown City Planners which is to make the area more pedestrian friendly. But the real question is whether those who dont already want to go on a bike will jump on board. There are places that in las vegas a city block is sometimes half a mile or more. So walking in this, especially in the summer heat is not necessarily the best idea. So i think, yeah, i think its a good idea if it wo i live and work down here. You said you used to own a bike. The chopper ended up in the parking lot of Comanche County memorial hospital. A crow of four people were on board but nonwere seriously the incident happened at 6 00 a. M.
