5:00. north las vegas firefighters knocked down this fire at a recycling plant in north las vegas. sky 3 was quick over that smoky hazy scene. it came from republic services facility on cheyenne and fifth street. so far no injuries to report but crews will stay on the scene to battle any hot spots in the resielged materials. to california where they're battling a massive plant fire live images coming from ontario about an hour east of l.a. we are hearing conflicting reports it's from a cardboard recycling plant or pallet plant. >> marie: two women who ran a sanctuary to help animals accused of abusing are more than 400 animals. the 54-year-old and 51-year-old donna reed also known as donna be euthanized for medical reasons. the pair face three felony charges and 24 misdemeanors in this case. >> reed: metro's animal cruelty unit rescues dozens of horses and birds involved in an animal cruelty case. they found the animals yesterday at a home near lake mead and decatur. 21 horses and 33 birds were rescued. police believe people living outside the home own many of those animals. anyone who thinks their animal may have been taken from the home should contact the animal foundation where t >> marie: new at six, nevada highway patrol releases the names of a trooper who shot and killed a man after a cross valley chase. trooper david dudley a 17-veer veteran of the force was forced to open fire on the suspect after they say he stole a car from a downtown las vegas car wash and drove it all the way to a cadillac dealership on auto show drive in henderson. that suspect died of his reporter: the secret service tells us people here are pretty savvy when it comes to spotting a fake buck. that's because so many people here are used to handling money in las vegas. but it does this the last year the secret service has recovered about $1.4 million in fake bills here in the las vegas area. they say catching a person who may be trying to scam you is all -- well you need to know how to spot a fake bill. >> this bill here is old but it's genuine $1 bill. what the people actually did was erase the $1 and printed 100 over the top of it. it up and you look into a light, you can see actually one written across there. >> reporter: we talked to greg sims owner of sam page bar who says after getting scammed in the best. sims showed up a simple method business owners can use to detect phony currency and another business owner says the person who paid for it is often >> it's usually policies in place, you know, sfrukting the bartenders to verify the $100 bill, $50 bills. if holidays. >> anchor: thanks so much. >> marie: two scooters involved in valley crashes. that crash happened just after 5:00 a.m. on flamingo near valley view. police say the driver of the moped turned on a red light. then earlier this afternoon a man and woman lost control of their scooter. this happening near lamb and stewart. an oil spill may have been responsible for the crash. condition. >> reed: a traffic alert if you are heading to mccarran airport this weekend. less than three hours the ramps from the 215 east to the airport connector, they will be closed. the ramp p will reopen monday but close every week night for the next two weeks. so drivers heading to the airport from the eastbound 215 will have to exit at wind mill then turn around and approach the airport on the westbound 215. >> marie: decision 2016 a few weeks away and nearly they can do that as early as tomorrow. most of the country has concerns over voter fraud, cyber breaches and voter intimidation. and bank of america and other large organizations and businesses are now taking part. sadler attributes that positive change to accept culture and where we are. inclusion and diversity initiatives at second cracker barrel gears up for its grand opening in north las vegas. a party of a different sort i guess. the old country store on craig near the i-15 has a soft opening this morning for family and friends of cracker barrel employees. the first store's grand opening saw long lines wrapped around the building. that line near the silverton. so expect the same for monday's grand opening. doors open at 6:00 a.m. there in the north valley. >> rd: event of course is the southern hills hospital balloon festival. that's where we find our weather authority kevin janison. >> marie: quite a sunset is for the las vegas valley tonight under a clear sky we're going down to 62 degrees. expect plenty of saturday sunshine. the high temperature should stop out at 89. i think a good portion of the valley will see 90s tomorrow. not much wind tomorrow. could change on sunday. sunday's high temperature is the lower 80s thanks to the clouds that will be on the increase. we'll have that chance for
