treanor who we understand is at the airport. john, what have you learned so far? >> reporter: well, this is the parking garage. you can see an active police scene behind me. there are a few police cars at this level but at the very top, that's six floors, where we believe this shooting happened, again, two victims, sunrise hospital with unknown injuries. and they believe, again, that this is a domestic violence-related situation. we want it make that known. when you hear airport and extra tight around here. and las vegas and serene, they believe they have a suspect or have identified the suspect's vehicle there. that's surrounded by police indicates that the suspect may be there as well. dramatic scene unfolding here just before 6:00 and again all centering right here at terminal 1, the parking garage around the 6th floor. the elevators are shut down. the airport connector also shut as you get down here. this police investigate is still ongoing. you might be able to hear some of the police helicopters around the area. we are not far from the scene where the suspect has been cornered. we'll have the latest details as they unfold throughout this newscast and on news3lv.com. john treanor, news 3. guys? >> we always rely on our viewers in situations like this to help us out with angles that we haven't covered yet. this is at mccarran airport. you can see the emergency vehicles on converning on the scene. >> and perhaps a passenger asking whether this is some sort of terror incident. we want to be very clear here, metro is saying this is domestic violence. so some sort of intimate relationship between the people who were involved in this double shooting. >> we're hearing of this active las vegas boulevard and serene an apartment complex. we believe that's where this photo is coming. you can see many more metro officers out as they try to track down a suspect in this shooting. again, possibly leaving in a ford escape, a smaller-sized suv. so that's what's going on right now as we speak. >> so multiple situations and multiple locations of this investigation. we have john treanor at the airport. but several other members of the latest. we'll continue to launch this story throughout this broadcast and throughout the evening. we have other news to bring you, including a hit-and-run victim's friends are calling on the driver to surrender of. >> police say phillip porter was struck over the weekend after a minivan driver blew through a stop sign outside of rancho high school. news 3's antonio castelan reports from the crash site. >> reporter: the victim is still in critical condition at umc hospital. intersection. witnesses say the moped rider was coming from that direction when a driver in a minivan blew that stop sign. the driver struck the moped rider and took off. these are pictures captured after a man slammed into a mow ted near searles. phillip porter is the person shown lying on the pavement. police say the driver blew a stop sign. the impact sent porter flying off his scooter. the minivan just sped away. >> he's a nice person. >> reporter: jo bautista is a close friend of porter. he cannot believe a driver hit him and didn't stop. witnesses describe the minivan as an early 2000 honda odyssey. >> they don't care about people life. they just care about theirselves. >> reporter: david mortellaro, another friend of porter's said, transportation was his moped. >> he's careful on his mow ted. watches out for traffic. >> reporter: porter is in kit cal condition at umc hospital. mortellaro said many people in the neighborhood depend on him. >> friendly. he will go to the food centers and bring food back to people who can't get it for themselves. >> robert brookens has he has a message for the mini vain drive -- minivan driver? >> did what kind of person are you? >> reporter: if anyone has information about the whereabouts of this hit-and-run driver, you are asked to call crimestoppers at 702-385-5555. reporting from searles and 21st street, antonio castelan, news 3. we have a sadup date to -- sad update. bystanders after being found face down not breathing near downtown summerlin has passed away. >> some of you may remember the video of cpr being performed on the police officer. we're not showing that video anymore out of respect for the family. >> now to the situation in new york and new jersey, it was a chaotic scene this morning in a small new jersey town. it all started with the tip -- with a tip of a manle >> police moved in convince the from fingerprint evidence that he was responsible for the weekend terror attacks across new york and new jersey. shots were fired. ahmad khan rahami was wounded and taken into custody. >> rahami is facing attempted murder charges. >> two officers were wounded trying to arrest him. their injuries are not life-threatening. no federal charges for the bombings have been filed yet. he's been held on state charges investigators say rahami was seen on a security video near the site of the blast in manhattan saturday night that injured 29 people. they also recovered his fingerprints at the scene and on that unexploded bomb that they found. investigators have up covered bomb-making materials consistent with those explosive devices. that evidence was pulled from inside an apartment over a new jersey restaurant owned by >> now that we have this suspect in custody, the investigation can focus on other aspects, such as whether this individual acted alone and what his motivations may have been. >> we all have a role to play as citizens in making sure that we don't succumb to that fear. and there's no better example of that than the people in new york and new jersey. >> now, as far as the question did he act alone? airport connector was shut down as police worked that scene and then bebegan to hear about another scene as they search for the suspect. >> at las vegas boulevard and serene, an apartment complex there, a suspect and a ford escape somehow tied to this double shooting at mccarran that happened before 6:00. we've shown you two different images now. this far away shot of the airport people could not get into one part of the airport. and that other ground shot where you saw many investigators. here we are. >> and the latest information we have on the victims, two people with gunshot wounds, rushed to sunrise hospital where they are being treated right now. we understand from clark county fire who responded to the scene that both victims were conscious as they were transported to sunrise hospital. so that brings you up to speed now. we'll bring you updates as we get more information. some tense moments for people traveling to nevada today on a flight, a united airlines flight. it rolled off the taxiway at denver international airport. you are seeing the aftermath here. the plane was headed to reno but the brakes went out and it rolled off the runway. a reporter with a reno gazette happened on on board and live tweeted what saying the pilot did an emergency reverse with the engines to keep the plane from going right into a ditch. there were no injuries here. passengers and crew were bussed back to the terminal after they were brought out and put on another flight to reno. the owners of an arizona home where a plane crashed over the weekend say they are lucky to be alive. sharon and peter were in their gilbert home at the time. they escaped unharmed. the pilot was able to parachute officials say he suffered second and third-degree burns and remains hospitalized. pahrump. we're looking at 68 degrees at mount charleston and 97 at lake mead also experiencing the very calm conditions. as we look to the satellite, the talker of the day is something we've just talked about. the increased clouds across area. what's next? it's the rain. what's it coming from? hurricane payne. take a look at this. moving about 150 miles an hour hour -- 15 miles an hour to the north. but the winds from this hurricane are around 90 miles an hour. as it continues to move north, it will lose momentum. we're expecting a splash of showers from the system. a good chance is possible by tomorrow and even lingering into the next day or so clearing up by midweek before a second storm overnight tonight, though, we'll be similar to last night. lows in the 70s. we'll hang onto point, the elevators were shut down, even one of the tunnels going into the airport was completely shut down to traffic, too. >> if you are waiting for someone who was flying in tonight, this slowed a lot of people down. if memory serves, the 6th floor is the top floor, the one that doesn't have a roof o stay where they were. there was no getting in or getting out of that parking garage that you see on the right-hand side of your screen for quite some time. as you said, even the airport connector shut down. that was causing big backups getting to the airport on the 215 as well. >> thankfully
