he is charged with six crimes related to a string of armed robberies. the 27-year-old arrested august 19th after somebody recognized him as shane ross based on those security camera images i told you about. council member ross was not in court but he said his son was battling addiction. attorney chestnut has been hired to represent shane. he expects to file a motion for reduced bail next week. >> we court we're going to reserve requests about bail at this time until we've had a chance to review this and other matters in existence. >> craig: back here live near the regional justice court. shane ross's bail is currently $60,000. and through their attorney the family says they do want a lower bail amount so they can afford the bail but also a number that is acceptable to the district attorney and to the court. and so that way shane ross can enters some type of addiction treatment. a preliminary hearing in this case has been scheduled for october 5th. before that date, the attorney representing him as indicated he expects to have already filed that request for reduced bail. i'm craig fiegener reporting live, news 3. >> krystal: opening arguments began today in the case of michael solid who is accused of killing a 15-year-old after trying to steal his ipad. that's marcos arenas. he was killed after being dragged underneath the vehicle see on your screen attempted to fight or he attempted to fight off the theft in 2013. police say michael solid and jacob dismont committed the crime. earlier this month jacob dismont pled guilty not guilty. co-defendant michael solid pled not guilty as well. dismont could be called to testify against solid. he faces a maximum sentence of life without parole. >> jeff: a local teacher she plans to take a plea deal. we're talking about 37-year-old nicole wilfinger. she plans to plead guilty to statutory seduction of a minor in this case. police report says she was a close friend of the student's family, even sometimes babysitting for them. the teenage boy who was in seventh grade when the relationship started told police about his sexual encounters saying they had sex at her house and in his bed. >> krystal: a local woman whose husband was killed in a village says she asked him not to go to work the day it happened. we're talking about 30-year-old richard bautista who lost his life when that scaffolding collapsed on monday. he was on it with two other people who managed to jump off. his widow wants to know who is responsible. jackie moreno telling us that her husband works seven days a week to support his family and she doesn't know how she and her three kids are going to make it now that he is gone. he is like no they said i can go. he was everything. because he was the one working. you know, he was the main head here. >> krystal: one of their children has down's syndrome and needs his mother's constant care. osha is investigating this cause of that collapse. >> jeff: the national center for missing and exploited center needs your help in finding a teen today. 15-year-old brayden pittman was last seen in idaho on february. he could be in the las vegas area. he is believed to be in the areas of hurricane utah. police need your help locating a missing endangered adult here in the valley. daniel who has alzheimer's was last seen wearing a small straw hat with a red and gray shirt and brown pants with suspenders. he was seen near the aquarius 702-828-2709. >> krystal: we brought you news breaking overnight on our morning show. a powerful earthquake devastating towns northeast rome trapping people under rubble. >> jeff: throughout the hours the death toll has gone up. it's now at 120. nbc's bill neely has the latest from the hardest hit area. >> hello. you joine the three towns shaken by this earthquake. this one it seems is the hardest hi italy's civil protection agency has announced the death toll has risen once again. it is now 73 and rising with dozens missing and hundreds injured. but this town has borne the brunt of that death toll. here behind me you can see a residential building that was the one thing i don't see is really any sign of life. there's no furniture. there's no bed. crucially there are no people. it's all been engulfed by the concrete. this was 6.2 on the richter scale and there have been dozens at least 40 aftershocks since then. as there are helicopters moving out to see the extent of the damage. because there are about hamlets, villages, isolated communities. some of them that have been cut off because the roads are blocked. the authorities want to get some handle on exactly how badly those hamlets have been hit or possibly destroyed. there's an earth mover just coming behind us. there are at least three towns badly damaged. the death toll now standing at 73. but that is expected to rise. place dealing with the aftermath of an earthquake today. a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck central myanmar today as well. an official there says villagers around the epicenter felt heavy shaking. while most buildings remain in tact, two deaths have been reported. data from the u.s. geological survey shows the tremors were felt as far away as bangladesh, india and thailand. >> krystal: your heart goes out to those folks. they're having such a hard time and the survivors. as we turn our attention to what's going on here locally you know kelly i'm really liking this downward trend and the temperatures. >> kelly: i know isn't it nice? it's been great in the mornings. but it is wfrming up right now. i want wildfires in california. the smoke blowing in again. today. now the temperatures have warmed up. 96 right now at mendosa elementary school. as we take a look at some of our other locations. 91 degrees. definitely warmer than it was this time yesterday. highs today expected to be right around normal which is 101. that is what we typically see this time of year. >> jeff: kelly thank you. we are feeling anything but normal today here at news 3. and cw las vegas. because we lost one of our own in a t i can't even believe i'm speaking about him in past tense. because phil honable was such a german tourists found yesterday afternoon in central california after reported missing more than 15 hours. the women reported missing when they failed to meet one their group. they were in a car crash and found off a deep embankment. one was ejected. a third able to get out of the vehicle on her own. the other two that we mentiond were flown to an area hospital. police searched for those women using onstar. cell phones. >> jeff: a driver in boston may have taken his eye off the road at the wrong time. the massachusetts department of transportation had a board blocking the center lane of a tunnel in boston monday night. as the d.o.t. camera shows a man driving a cadillac slammed into the sign sending it flying. officials say the 60-year-old suffered minor injuries. the driver also received a summons to appear in court for motor vehicle charges. >>st ford, rather, recalling 88,000 vehicles because the engines can stall without warning. the recall covers certain wagons, tauruses and police vans as well as lincoln nk sedans and suvs for model years 2013-2015. all the vehicles have a 3.5 liter turbo charged six cylinder engine. ford saying the fuel pump may not start or again live in those areas for decade can be stubborn waiting until the last second. they want to be out there with garden hoses trying to fend off the flames. here in las vegas we don't ha m worry about. but we are coming off a busy weather night again. >> kelly: and we're feeling the affects of the fires. multiple fires in california have prompted clark county to issue an air quality advisory not just for today but for tomorrow too. here is a look at what we're seeing. elevated levels of ozone and smoke in the air have prompted this air quality advisory. again, this is for today and tomorrow. so if you have asthma, allergies respiratory ailments you need to take it easy today. try to stay indoors as much as possible. and even for those who don't have those issues, try not to exercise outside the next couple of days. because, again, the air quality isn't that great. maybe take the treadmill instead. as far as what we're seeing outside? again, i mean, we've got hazy conditions here. you can barely make out the spring mountains. you can definitely see the convection and the clouds over those mountains. not expecting much in the way of storms. maybe apl the local mountains. temperatures definitely warming up. we started out the morning in the mid-70s in many locations. very nice start to the day. summerlin at 94 degrees. downtown 94 as well. and green valley we're at 96. again, these temperatures are pretty close to typical for this time of year. let's look at the satellite radar. we are starting to see storms firing back up. most of this activity into southwest utah. a couple of showers possible in the higher terrain. spring mountains. las vegas expected to stay dry after a couple of nights of active weather. here is a look at the forecast today. in las vegas mostly sunny skies. 101 our expected high. that's normal for this time of year. winds out of the south five to ten miles per hour. tonight mainly clear skies. 80 for the overnight low. let's look at the seven day. tomorrow we're forecasting dry conditions in las vegas. however showers, thunderstorms a possibility in lincoln county as arizona. then into utah as well. that is something we'll be monitoring. dry weather continues through the weekend. this time for everybody. take a look at these temperatures. we're looking at highs in the upper 90s friday and through the weekend. overnight lows very comfortable too. 70s. let's get the smoke out of here and we'll be able to go outside early in the morning and enjoy those temperatures and maybe take the dog for a really long oh my gosh i love it. ordering up this great weather for us. a football team paid for uniforms -- this is horrible -- they never received. now support is pouring in for that scammed team. >> jeff: maybe lesson
