tonight's decision and the drama. >> it took 12 hours to finally get to a vote tonight. the whole plan has been in the works for some 12 months now. parents and teachers in support of it hope it is worth the wait. >> with that a historic shift begins. the fifth largest in the nation is going to feel smaller. >> this is a dramatic change. this is going to right size the school district. we are going to go from the top down structure to bottom up. >> what they voted on is a shift that does a simple thing. the school district is massive. schools from henderson, border same people. it's big and struggling. our district is one of the lowest performing districts in the country. here's a thought. let's change it all. let schools act as their own boss. they would have total control of their own budgets. after all, some schools have more english as second language kid or special needs kids and maybe the people better know how those kids learn. that can think of lots of reasons not to change. change is hard. but we are 50th or close to 50th in the country. that's not acceptable. so i'm not afraid of failure. the status quo is failure. >> so what happens next, a couple of steps. there will likely be a public meeting in august. a workshop before the board of education has a chance to vote on september 1. they could defer in september if they want to. big change. sure does not part of the volley. it happened on ann road just past noon. north las vegas police say multiple suspects robbed the pharmacy. no one was hurt. investigators are not sure what they stole. if you know anything that could help police catch these crooks, call crimestoppers. no flight for you, frontier airlines has banned the man who brought a monkey on b flight to las vegas from ever flying with them again. jason ellis brought his monkey on a flight from columbus, ohio. he said it's a registered support animal. it was in plain view when he went through security. when the airline asked for his paperwork, he couldn't provide it at the time because it was in his checked bag under the plane. they put him on the no fly list because he didn't follow the competition real, but it is rolling into
