Three officers attacked by an inmate in florence. Officers were treated at the hospital, the prison investigating tonight. The man representing jodie ariass killer is facing new problems after the state bar determined he violated attorneyclient confidentiality in a book he wrote about the case. His suspension is not a done deal yet. It still has to be approved by a judge. As for jodie arias, she can still object to the terms of whatever they come up with. Very scary moments for firefighters as they battle big flames and a lot of smoke at a Metal Recycling plant just west of downtown phoenix. Skyfox was over the scene at 35th avenue and broadway. At one point during this firefight, a crane actually collided with a ladder truck, and the firefighters in the pretty scary. Thankfully those firefighters were not hurt. Crane operator was concentrating on the metal not paying attention to an 80foot ladder truck to the left of him, and he actually struck that ladder truck with his crane. That crew was rocked back and forth. Luckily for us, it was a near miss. I mean, thats a near miss for us. Its not clear yet how that fire started. On to a developing story, Maricopa County sheriffs deputies investigating after a body was found at the river bottom in 67th and southern avenue in laveen. Few other details have been released and its not clear how long that body might have been there. Last night we told you about the surge of Illegal Immigrants coming into the u. S. Illegally in the rio grand texas area. We are told that 100 Border Patrol agents have been sent from tuscon to assist with the data from u. S. Customs and Border Protection show a nearly 90 increase in women and children coming into the u. S. Illegally over the past two years. Two thirds of the Border Apprehensions are happening in that rio grand area. Tuscon agents have been sent to help. The Border Patrol says sending tuscon agents to texas will not affect our Border Security here. Now here we still have a job to do, so through through different technology, we cannot replace the agent but have a Situational Awareness and focus on what we need to do. Down here they are not the freezing temperatures, but very near freezing temperatures, some of them up a little bit too much for the freeze. But you get down to 34, theres a chance there. We go to the midsection of the state here, and we have prescott with 24 degrees overnight and 32 right at the freeze mark in payson, so you can see those temperatures down. Theres our 49degree temperature that we are looking so all of these freeze areas out, those temperatures down, the chance of snow very, very good. What we need is a little moisture. Officers were serving an eviction notice. The Department Says the officer turned off his body camera off when he was about to leave, and thats when he spotted marissa. He was concerned about an arrest for arrest, and thats when he turned it back on. The cop said you are under you cannot arrest me without me actually having a warrant. So the cell phone video shows what the body cam doesnt, the o officers. He punched me in my face twice, choked me, and proceeded to arrest me and twist my arm and just brutally attack me. We have Different Levels of force that we are able to use depending on the actions of the person who we were dealing with. The officer said he was kicked and kneed in the groin. I didnt harm him in anyway. The departments policies say officers are only allowed to use an amount of force that is objectively reasonable to overcome resistance. I was shocked when i initially reviewed the video, but as i reviewed it overtime, i realized there were more questions to be answered than my reporter the department obviously trying to figure out whether or not the use of force was necessarily. Meanwhile, the officer in question is on paid leave at home. It turns out there was no warrant out for her arrest and it had already been taken of and the officer didnt know. She is now facing two charges, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on an officer. Well keep you updated on the issue. The bald Eagle Population here in arizona is soaring to new heights with more bald eagles here in the state than ever before. Im Danielle Miller. Back in the early 1970s, we knew of four breeding areas across arizona, and we have been working ever since then to try to grow this population in arizona. And thats exactly what the arizona game and Fish Department is doing since developing a og aims to protect bald eagles. The population here in the state is soaring to new heights. As of the last year, in 2016, we had 65 pairs of breeding bald eagles in the state, so 135 breeding birds, and thats not including the young ones that havent reached maturity, five years of age when they are old enough to start breeding. Raptor management coordinator with the arizona game and fish says many things have been done to restore the population, things like nest watching. It gives us a chance to step in and intervene and give them a second chance, if nestlings fall out of the nest or a windstorm blows the nest of the tree. We can come back, rebuild the nest, put the nest back and the adults still have a chance to be successful that year. They can be found pretty much anywhere theres a large body of water around the state, and the game and Fish Department is saying they are even eagles nest at higher elevations, saying the highest concentrations are near the salt and verde rivers. Thats historically been the case just because of the habitat and prey that are available. They say the bald Eagle Population diminished with the use of d. D. T. Which is a form of a pesticide. He said this led to widespread pair made a breeding recovery. When we talk about a pair of bald eagles, we are talking about a male and a female bonded together in the breeding season to have offspring, and here in arizona that breeding cycle starts generally in december. As the population continue to flourish, the game and Fish Department will continue ensuring breeding is successful. Throughout the breeding season, we will climb nest, band the nestlings with a unique identifier band on their legs. Anytime we see that bird again, well know the lineage, how old it is, how long its been in the area. This will lead to many more bald eagles in the state for many more generations of people to enjoy. Last year, where we had a really good productivity year, that means five years from now, we are going to have a lot more adults ready to start breeding, and that gives our population a chance to really grow. Removed from the federal list of threatened and endangered species.
