your actual numbers in the north bay, close to the freezing mark, 28 plus in livermore, 29 antioch. that is a different story. things are in the 40s right now, 39 oakland, 34 hayward. this is a little colder than where we were yesterday. like yesterday, we have statements going on here for you. these dark pink is the freeze warning. until nine this morning. the lighter pink, that is the frost advisory, san francisco downtown area the only exception that is not in this is the heat island effect and temperatures are noticeably higher there. coverage up to the north bay and coast without frost advisory with us until 9 a.m. coming up, and a little bit, we will let you know about a little chance of rain that enters our 70 forecast. back to you. >> you can always check the weather anytime with the kron4 mobile news app it is available on the app store and google play. happening now, a search for a murder suspect on the peninsula. police believe a a man stabbed his girlfriend to death, at her home, in san mateo. this happened saturday afternoon along south beast street near fifth avenue. tranone's kate cagle brings us the very latest on the search efforts. >>reporter: police are calming san mateo county looking for this man. anthony [ name inaudible ] >> it is very tragic. >>reporter: police first got the call at about noon. i the time they got to this home on north b street, the 34- year-old woman was dying of stabbings. she died here, and police began the manhunt for her 32-year-old boyfriend. his car was spotted in a parking garage on industrial avenue in san carlos. just 3 miles away from the crime scene. sheriff's deputies searchedsheriff's deputies searched the area, evacuating this nearby urgent care center. officers thought the suspect might be hiding in the building. the boyfriend was nowhere to be found. by about 5:15, the building was clear, industrial avenue was back open and deputies widen their search. san mateo police say this is most likely an example of domestic violence turned deadly. >> this particular area is not generally known for this type, for homicide such as this. >>reporter: kate cagle kron4 news. "breaking news" overnight, a suspect shot and killed a police officer in pennsylvania. veteran officer, boyd reed was killed after responding to a domestic violence call in new florence about 60 miles east of pittsburgh. the shooting led to a six hour manhunt. police were eventually able to track the suspect down, he is being identified this morning as ray shetler, he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. so far, he has not been charged with any crime. a possible motive in the planned parenthood shooting in colorado springs we are looking at the suspected gunman, robert l. dear, according to our network partner, cnn the suspect mentioned baby parts and expressed anti- abortion and antigovernment views to investigators. police are not yet commenting on why robert l. dear is accused of killing three people, including the police officer. community members gathered to honor the fallen officer at the university of colorado, in colorado springs, garrett swasey was a campus police officer and he rushed to help fellow officers at the planned parenthood clinic where he was shot and killed. tranone's nationalkron4's national correspondent, mark meredith is in colorado springs for us this morning with the very latest on the investigation. >>reporter: in custody since friday, there is little police are saying about 57-year-old transix, he 57-year-old robert l. dear, he is accused of killing three people, including a police officer at this planned parenthood clinic in colorado. >> when i came out, there was an officer that came running over and said get back inside. there's an active shooter. >>reporter: nick polinsky is one of several people in shock over friday's attack. this weekend, nick, along with others including the town's mayor our pain there is -- their respect to those killed among them police officer garrett swasey who was killed while trying to rescue others. >> this was not his jurisdiction. he did not have to respond. but, he did, and he lost his life in the process. >>reporter: police are not expected to release any details until monday. people who once knew the suspect to tell us, they are not entirely surprised. >> i can tell you he was not stable. just in conversation, things were not cohesive. >>reporter: nine other people who were hurt in the attack are expected to make a full recovery. meanwhile, the intention remains on what if anything could have been done to stop friday's brutal assault. this morning, all flocks in colorado have been required to be at half staff until further notice by order of the state governor. we do expect to learn a little bit more on monday from investigators, but this area, where we where we are expected to remain shut down until further notice. reporting this morning in colorado springs, i am mark ardith, media general television group. >> this morning we are learning more about the suspected shooter, robert l. dear. he moved to colorado in 2014 and neighbors say he and a woman living at the same house, kept to themselves. according to the washington post, robert l. dear had several run-ins with the law before he moved to colorado. robert l. dear had previously been arrested in north carolina accused of cruelty to animals, and accused of being a peeping tom. he was not convicted in either case. other big news this morning, those warriors are now 18-zero and proving their nba record for the most went to start the season. golden state beat the sacramento kings last night, seth curry led the team in scoring with 19 points, and he only played 30 minutes. the warriors win by a final of 120 -101. they have now 118 in a row to start the season and they will try now to make that 19 in a row on monday with a jazz. they play the jazz in utah. go warriors. hours spent in line at stores, two more time online. the website, shopper tracker, claims sales at retail stores on black friday fell 10% to $10.4 billion this year. that is down from $11 billion last year. thanksgiving sales also dropped by the same percentage, many retailers are offering bargain deals long before thanksgiving. limiting the impact of black friday deal specials. however, adobe says online sales jumped over 14% on friday compared to last year. a california farma california farm is recalling a vegetable mix believed to be the source of an e. coli outbreak that has sickened 19 people in seven states. the fda says taylor farms pacific avenue tracy has recalled a mix of celery and onions used in the costco chicken salad. cosco says it uses one supplier for these vegetables. the cdc is saying the number of people sickened by the outbreak will likely grow over the next few weeks. even though the product has been removed. coming up, now that the rains have arrived, you know holidays. you can see the presence there, there will also be some live reindeer. this is happening on treasure island from ten-4 p.m., admission is $3 for adults and the event is pet friendly. 14 deaths are now being blamed on a storm in mid- america. take a look at the flooding in texas, there's so much water on the street. right now it is moving eastward out of texas but it keeps coding some states to the north with ice making for dangerous road conditions. this is coming on a very busy holiday travel day. look at that car there. almost covered in water. a lot of people heading back, after the thanksgiving weekend, what does the weather have in store if you plan to be traveling today across the country. dave spahr is here with a look at the forecast. it is cold here. >> that is true. it's not cold and the rest of the country. the country to the east is a little bit mild. here is the pattern now, 42 downtown san francisco right now. twentys up to the north bay, as you see to the far east bay as well. twenty-eight -- 27 livermore, antioch 32. to reiterate our point here, we have a freeze and frost advisory, the freeze warning is what you see in the dark pink here, the light pink that is the frost advisory going on. downtown san francisco is deliberately not in there, not in the clear, quite cold still. future cast here for the afternoon, here's the nice little warm-up to get in the 50s, couple of pockets of 40 thing in a row. by 6 p.m., we get the 40s all over the place. by tomorrow morning, at seven am, you see the progress going on here. at least along the coast in the bay shoreline here that is where things are little bit more mild comparatively speaking. it looks like for tomorrow, not quite as cold as it is this morning. but plenty cold still, it looks like. a look at what happens in the afternoon, we get the daytime heating, temperatures do not do a whole lot in the forecast. . let's check this out for our temperatures, or rather what's going on upstream. we did talk about a front that was out to see, and the threat for some scattered showers. that was on monday, early part of the week. it does not look like it is materializing. we will see clouds developing on monday and perhaps tuesday, by the latter portion of the week wednesday and for that is when things come together for some scattered showers that were. that's check out your temperatures for the east bay shoreline, mid to upper 50s, further east bay shoreline and that is where you see them, we have lower 50s up north as you can see to the far east antioch 54, pittsburgh at 52. for the all-important seven-day forecast, we have numbers like this. it is pretty much upper 50s, but i want to draw your attention to wednesday, thursday and into friday. well, at least thursday, some scattered showers are starting to develop and everything you see so far, the models continue to agree, agree, hey, we're going to get scattered showers out of all of that there. back to you. with rain in the forecast, it is an portent -- it is important to remember when the highways get wet, the number of crashes go up. many crashes are avoidable if drivers would follow a few simple rules. kron4 looks at those rules in this addition of people behaving badly. >>reporter: when it rains, it is important to slow down, and yes, you can get a ticket for speeding, even if you are not expedient -- exceeding the maximum speed limit. driving on interstate 280 and the rain is interesting. i'm driving between 55-60 because of the low visibility and the slickness on the highway. you will see drivers packing -- passing me up at dangerous speeds. not dangerous if they the roads are dry, but as you can see they are wet. speed is one of the main causes of rain related crashes. often following too close in wet conditions. i'm using a camera that has a wide angle lens, it may be hard to judge distance in the video, this suv that just cut me off was too close for comfort. something else important to know, the driver had no lights on. when visibility is less than 1,000 feet, you are required by law to turn on your headlights. or, if you are using your -- whichever comes first. this tour buses bus is not using light while driving in the rain, however it inevitably drawn for a few miles. blinkers do not count as lights in this case. there are a lot of drivers with no lights on, you can tell because their taillights are dark. remember, safety first when using the roads, because a life you save could be your own. you might think that california highway patrol has bigger fish to fry than to pull over someone for not using the headlights. they do, they will. let's say you crash, during a rainstorm, and it is determined that you did not have your lights fully on, you could be held partially at fault for the crash. when it rains, make it a habit to turn on your headlights, even if you have automatic lights. that way it becomes habit- forming. just saying. stanley a blanket. it was believed she was only 36- 48 hours old when she was found. police say charges could be filed against the person who abandoned the newborn baby. >> that hold their -- there were rocks on top of it, which you took the stuff off, she found a newborn baby. >> right now, the charges are attempted murder and child endangerment. >> the baby's vital signs baby's vital signs were checked, creek. i have three pairs of socks on, just to keep warm, and i can tell you it feels as though i am wearing a t-shirt and shorts, it is that cold out here. the cold will penetrate anything you are wearing. i have a water bottle here that i plan to see if it would freeze, 34 degrees is freezing, so hopefully, by the end of our show it will have shown some signs of freezing. i had a cup of coffee that i wanted to show you guys to show the steam rising off the coffee, but i could not hold out, i had to drink it because it is that cold out here. hopefully we will be able to talk to some people out here. i see some bikers coming up in the distance, looks like they are wearing full ski masks to protect themselves from the cold. that is another way to protect yourself if you have to come out kind of a chilly spot. no surprise that this, it has been restated and reissued the frost advisory, freeze warning. this is with us until 9 a.m. the dark pinks that you see there, that is for the freeze warning it extends all the way up through wine country, concord, concord, livermore and then right around the bay, the perimeter of the bay that is where the frost advisory is and covering the north bay, you see there as well. downtown san francisco, deliberately is not enough. upstream, what in the period of stream, what is going on? we are talking about the induction of some cloud cover maybe tomorrow, not so much tonight, but some are. the thought was perhaps earlier that this frontal boundary might bring us some showers, let's call that a chance of a sprinkle. beyond that., it is kind of quiet with some moderation until we get to the middle of the week and ultimately it looks like we will get scattered showers in here by wednesday into thursday. the breakdown for you going on in san jose. fifty-six by 2 o'clock, 55 at 4 p.m. that is comparatively speaking mild and back down to business with the lower 50s 45 by happening at 8 p.m. this evening. what you can expect for with this front bringing some showers, you saw texas and along the plane states on the cold stuff out west, we are as well, we are waiting a little bit in the way of moderation. 50s, upper 50s, half moon bay 57, palo 57, palo alto matching that, san mateo up to 56 today after chilly start of the lower 30s here. san francisco 56. for the self- pay you can expect readings mostly in the upper 50s, one of the warmer numbers we have, at least for today. there are 60s in the seven-day, we will get to that in just a bit. justine. happening now, part of a knees bay road is still close, as crews worked to repair a water main break in lafayette. the break sent water rushing down the streets. we have the latest on repair efforts. >> oh, my gosh. >>reporter: this is the scene from carl front and side yards on friday. hundreds, if not thousands of gallons of water gushing through the fence, after east bay sends the 66-year-old cast iron pipe burst. >> i heard this rumbling, it's like like a scene out of the movie. he was interesting. >>reporter: deep underground, this is what caused the mess and splintered 15-foot section of damaged pipe, possibly busted open by cold weather. >> luckily, the break is far enough away from the house, that it missed a part of the house. if it was another hundred feet up, it would probably have flooded this entire house. >>reporter: the broken main reported just before 5 o'clock friday afternoon. since then, crews working nonstop to replace the damaged section with pvc piping. strong plastic that will serve as a permanent replacement. aren't you glad you are out of water for a little while,. >> yeah. and, of course. >>reporter: his neighbor lives directly in front, just above the damage. how are you making do? >> my mom had to go get some water from safeway. just, you know, living like the amish way, i guess. we have to make do. >>reporter: down the road, he may have to seek some financial restitution for the harm done to his yard. >> luckily, i have relatives close by. we just came back from taking a shower, and feeding our kids. >>reporter: in lafayette, trying to. >> east bay mud says once water is resorted to be a few more days you for that road is reopened. the "breaking news" we have been telling about this morning, severe weather is wreaking havoc on parts of the south and midwest. flooding and winter he precipitated is blamed for more deaths in texas and kansas. icy conditions in oklahoma snarled traffic and caused widespread power outages. jonathan cooper reports. >> it's been crazy, i've been waiting for to come falling down down. like completely. >>reporter: businesses near 15 15th and santa fe and edmund were in for quite a surprise saturday morning. >> it came crashing down, exploded and that we lost lost power for a good three hours afterwards. >>reporter: this power pole, and its lines collapsed. the poll buried -- barely hanging on knockdown power to surrounding buildings including this liquor store per the collapse is one of many problems caused by the okc metro this weekend. early this morning, this ups truck flipped along i to 40. other cars spun out hitting black ice on bridges and overpasses. the big problem, for many, are scenes like this. accumulating ice bringing down trees, and in some cases, blocky roadways. the ice also wreaking havoc on power lines leaving thousands in happening today, the national security agency is expected to and it's weaving collection of americans phone records. the controversial program began 14 years ago under president george w. bush and was kept secret until edward snowden leaked its existence in 2013. in june, president obama signed a reform measure that took away the agency's authority to collect of the record. under the new law, the nsa the nsa must now get a warrant, or court order to collect phone data from telecommunications companies. facebook is extending parental leave for its employees across the world. all new parents in france, or anywhere have there been negotiations quite like these. starting monday, 195 countries will gather at a purpose filled the conference center north of paris. to try to find agreements on worldwide limitations on greenhouse gases. the complex negotiations were nearly overshadowed either vicious terrorist attacks in paris two weeks ago, which at first seemed as if they might endanger the meetings here. in fact, some people felt the climate talks should be called off. >> i am not convinced about the necessity at this moment to organize this event. i think we have other priorities today, even if the environment is very important. >>reporter: foremost, those worldwide issues trumpet even terrorist concerns. in a way, the paris conference is just too big to call off. everyone from the pope on down has emphasized how important it is for the planet to concentrate on the climate issues. pres. francois hollande said the best response to the terrorist attacks is to carry on with the climate summit. protecting the nearly 150 heads of state and 40,000 delegates who are expected will be a real challenge for french security forces. 2800 police and army will patrol the site itself, a thousand more reinforce the french borders. in all, 120,000 security personnel will be mobilized across the country. the leaders will only attend the first two days of the conference, but miles of roads will have to be closed off to get them to and from the conference site. something that is expected to show normally impossible french traffic into chaos. with popular demonstrations, serious negotiations, the climate conference will go on. it is something the world leaders feel simply cannot be postponed any longer. jim bitterman cnn, paris. donald trump faced protesters, again this weekend in florida, but this time he tried a more polite approach to injecting the person who interrupted him. the republican presidential candidate held a rally in sarasota on saturday. what a protester started shouting, trump asked the crowd not to hurt him, and to nicely escort the personnel. this comes after trump supporters punched and kicked a black lives matter protester who interrupted a rally in alabama. trump later suggested that the black lives matter protester should have been roughed up. >> of the last rally, we had one person, we have 15,000 people, we had one person who was really, really being bad. really being bad. and it was horrible. it was horrible. we said get him out, get him out, a little bit rough, and i got criticize. today, you are my witness, could i have been nicer? >> trumps' campaign rally is scheduled for monday in georgia. president obama and his daughters did their part to help celebrate small business saturday. the president along with his daughters visited a bookstore in washington. at that local bookstore they stopped to buy some books, they also got some frozen treats at a nearby dc popsicle shop. small business saturday is an american shopping holiday the day after black friday to celebrate and support local businesses. i definitely took part in that yesterday. i will take part in any shopping day, let's be honest. the statements that are all enforced, we will get to that in just a second. still hanging in the 20s, that is pretty much mirrored off to the far east bay. typically not as cold, we're looking at 27 livermore, pleasanton 28, 28 concord, 32 antioch. when you go around the perimeter of the bay, most readings are in the 30s, sunnyvale 32, san jose pair of threes, san mateo at 13 -- 31. along the peninsula, a moderate trend here in the 40s, at least, that seems balmy compared to our neighbors separate the frost advisory freeze affect and -- until 9 a.m. this point. what's going to help us all out with this? ultimately we have scattered clouds in here, we may not notice it so much for tonight, by monday night the trend will start to build. we will have some moderation, still look for some chile starts for us. let's see what happens for today. a little warm up we have in the afternoon. macymay see some 60s pop out here and there, for the most part we're going to call it the 50s. cold and chilly 40s hanging around those valleys off towards the east. tonight, by 6 p.m. we have everybody sought by the 40s with pockets of 30s here and there in the valleys. tonight they take over, just about everywhere except along the perimeter of the bay itself. peninsula, and parts of marin county as you see. then comes the warm-up for monday afternoon, and then into monday night we go back down again. a little bit moderate each step in monday we are talking about low chances of rain developing, we will mention a sprinkler with all of that. that may be a player for that, what we can get most out of this in the short term. is some scattered clouds into monday night. that will aid in terms of our cooling affects overnight to the radiation of cooling we sometimes cooling we sometimes talk about. upstream later on there is more moisture coming in from the pacific and the time he now maybe starting as early as wednesday night. into thursday. that is the next day we want to put our cards on to see some scattered showers. fiftys across the board, you can see mid to upper 50s around the bay perimeter antioch 54, 52 livermore, north bay upper to middle 50s. on the east bay shoreline, mid to upper 50s that work for the ultimate high today. fifty-six alameda, 56 richmond with berkeley at 57. fremont, as well, 56. in the far east bay, little bit cooler numbers in the lower 50s this go around. we will get more highs as we go forward, prior to the rain getting here which it happened by the end of the week. again, maybe a sprinkle, then we get to the latter portion of the forecast. notice how temperatures go back down a little bit to the lower 60s here. and even in the coastal regions we see that as well. justine. big news, we continue to follow people in colorado springs who are still trying to pick up the pieces after the tragic events inside a planned parenthood. the community held a vigil on saturday to support one another in this time of tragedy. reporter greg shows north bay is the cold spot with readings already in the lower 20s, still remaining in the 20s. we have 28 going on in nevada. peninsula is the modern trend here we see in the lower 40s. around the bay parameters pretty much in the 30s, it appears some of these numbers, we do have a couple of numbers that stand out. san mateo 3133 san jose, i think it was lower than that that it was yesterday. off to oakland at 39, concord 31 with pleasanton at 28. everyone is uniformly very cold this month to get things started. and then, we will see, our nightly lows will moderate because of the induction of some cloud cover that is in the forecast. we do have a frost advisory, and freeze warning until 9 o'clock. in the dark pink that you see here. that is the freeze warning. you can see it is away from the ocean, we from the coast come away from water. as that is where numbers tend to tumble just as the summer months, these are the spots that tend to be the warmest because they are not cooled by the ocean. water does not move around temperature wise as much is air does. we see downtown san francisco not in any of this as a technicality. outside the cold temperatures, which was they are moderating. monday, some scattered cloud cover will come, technically let's keep a sprinkle in there for insurance purposes. out to sea, more moisture coming our way, the timing of this next batch wednesday into thursday. scattered showers are part of the big day to put your cars on his thursday. maybe lingering a little into friday. another way that may hit us into the weekend. there is more golden state can pull off the victory, they will improve to 19-zero. tipoff is at 6 p.m. monday, themonday, the man accused of the planned parenthood shooting in colorado springs will make his first court appearance. robert l. dear is accused of shooting and killing three people including a police officer on friday morning. on monday, we are also hoping to learn more about the motive the shooting. the first trial for one of the six officers involved in the death of freddie gray take place on monday. gray died while in police custody in baltimore. his death led to protest that erected into looting and are separate officer, william porter, will be the first of six officers to go on trial for gray's death. each officer will be tried separately in consecutive trials. and the charges against these officers range from second- degree murder to miss contact in office -- misconduct in office. we are always tracking the forecast, very cold forecast, very cold temperatures to start but we will barely get into the 60s today. and we are expecting rain later on. david will have a closer look at the forecast coming up at the top of the next hour. for the second time in eight weeks, several people have fallen ill after ingesting a synthetic marijuana drug called spice, this is happening now in san diego. more than one dozen people were hospitalized on saturday. authorities say they had varying symptoms. last weekend several people were also hospitalized after overdosing on a bad batch of spice. right now, police are still trying to track down the drugs, and its makers. for the weekend, it is day to of the xc holiday emporium in san francisco. shop and support over 180 local local -- this is happening up here 35 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. i saw some post on facebook, it freezing mark and you have liquid water, in theory now, it will not freeze. if you have ice, at 32, in theory, it will not freeze, because you are right at the freezing mark. but, if you are below that is when you get freezing, and above you get melting. frost advisory and freeze warning, the dark pink you see here, that is where the freeze warning is, and then for the lighter pink that is where the frost advisory is with the exception of san francisco downtown, they are not seeing any of this. this is pretty much of the story we had from yesterday, the time periods were looking at 9 o'clock for this 9 o'clock for this all to change. and for change to happen, this frontal boundary here, the big solution with it, some scattered clouds maybe a little bit tonight, but more important forward tonight into early next week as we have a different weather pattern way out to sea there. mid-level moisture arriving on thursday and get some scattered showers in here. it looks like a shopper rain. highs today for oakland 57 by 2 p.m. 4 p.m. 56 down 47 as you can see by eights, and the breakdown for you buy new, we are talking 55 at the coast, 53 at the bay, 48 inland and at 5 p.m. app it's available on the app store, and google placer. happening now, a search for a murder suspect on a murder suspect on the peninsula, police believe a man stabbed his girlfriend to death at her home in san mateo. this happened saturday afternoon along b street near fifth avenue. tranone'skron4's kate cagle brings us the very latest on the search efforts. >>reporter: police are coming san mateo county for this man. anthony [ name inaudible ] >> it is very tragic. >>reporter: police first got the call at about noon. by the time they got to this home on north b street look 34-year-old woman was dying of stabbings. she died here, as police began the manhunt for her 22-year-old boyfriend. thirty30 minutes later, his car was spotted in a parking garage on industrial avenue in san carlos. just 3 miles away from the crime scene. sheriff's deputies searched the area, evacuating a nearby urgent care center. officers thought the suspect might be hiding in the building. the boyfriend was nowhere to be found. by about 5:15, the building was clear, industrial avenue was back open and deputies widened their search. san mateo police say this is most likely an example of domestic violence, turn to deadly. >> this particular area is not generally known for this type -- homicide touches -- such as this this. >>reporter: kate cagle tried to. "breaking news" overnight a police officer a police officer shot and killed, a veteran officer, lloyd reed was killed after responding to a domestic violence call in new florence. florence. this is about 60 miles east of pittsburgh. that shooting led to a six hour manhunt. police were eventually able to track down the suspect. he is now being identified as ray [ name inaudible ] and being treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder. a possible motive into the shooting at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado springs. we are looking here at the suspected gunman, robert l. dear. according to our network partner, cnn, the suspect mentioned ab parts, and expressed antiabortion, antigovernment views to investigators. police are not yet commenting though on a motive. robert l. dear is accused of killing three people, including a police officer. community members gathered to honor the fallen officer at the university of colorado in colorado springs. garrett swasey was a campus police a campus police officer, and he rushed to help fellow officers at that planned parenthood clinic where he was shot and killed. kron4 national correspondent mark meredith is in colorado springs with the very latest on the investigation this morning. >>reporter: in custody since friday, still, there is little put -- police are saying about transects -- robert l. dear. >> when i came out, there is enough so that came running over and said get back inside, there is inside, there's an active shooter. >>reporter: nick is one of several people still in shock over friday's attack. this weekend, nick, along with others including the town's mayor are paying their respects to those killed, among them police officer garrett swasey who was killed while trying to rescue others. this was not his jurisdiction. he did not have to respond. but, he did, and he's lost his life in the process. >>reporter: police are not expected to release any details until monday per people who. people who once knew the suspect tell us, they are not entirely surprised. >> you tell he was not stable -- just in conversation things were not cohesive. >>reporter: nine other people who were hurt in the attack, are expected to make a full recovery. a full recovery. meanwhile, the attention remains on what, if anything could have been done to stop friday's brutal assault. this morning, all flags in colorado have been required to be at half staff until further notice by order of the state governor. we do expect to learn a little bit more on monday, from investigators, this area where we are is expected to remain shut down until further notice. reporting this morning in colorado springs, i am mark meredith, media general television group. >> this morning we are learning more about the suspected shooter, robert l. dear, he moved to colorado in 2014 and neighbors say he and a woman living together kept to themselves, and according to the washington post, robert l. dear had several run-ins with the law before he moved to colorado. the newspaper is reporting that robert l. dear had been arrested in north carolina accused of cruelty to animals, and accused of being a peeping tom. he was not convicted in either case. other big news this morning, the warriors 18-zero improving their nba record for the most went to start the season. golden state beat the sacramento kings last night. seth curry led the team scoring 19 points and he only played for 30 minutes. the warriors one by a final of 120-101. they have now 118 in a row to start the season. season. the warriors will try to make it 19 in a row on monday, they take on the jazz in utah. for your money, here's a look at some of the latest business news release this week. black friday shoppers are shifting from hours spent in line at stores, two more time online. the website, shop tracker, claims that sales at retail stores on black friday, sold -- fell 10% to $10.4 billion that is down from 11 billion last year. sent -- thanksgiving sales drop by the same percentage. many retailers offering those bargain deals long before thanksgiving limiting the impact of the black friday special. however, adobe says online sales jumped over 14% on friday compared to last year. we have not even hit cyber monday yet. a. a california farm is recalling a vegetable mix believed to be the source of the e. coli outbreak that has sickened 19 people in seven states. the fda says taylor farms pacifico tracy has recalled a mix of celery and onions used in the costco chicken salad. costco says it uses one supplier for those vegetables are the cdc says it expects the number of people second by the outbreak to grow over the next few weeks. even though the product has been removed from store shelves. sheriff's deputies found a newborn baby buried alive under asphalt in southern california. deputies discover the baby girl crying on a bike path in compton friday. she was found wrapped in a blanket. it was believed she was only 36- 48 hours old when she was found. police say charges could be filed against the person who abandoned the newborn baby. >> that hold their -- i believe that was a whole and had pieces of wood on top of it. which you took the stuff off, she found a newborn baby. >> right now the charges are attempted murder, and child endangerment. >> the baby's vital babies vital signs were checked, information in the next addition of people behaving badly. we are back with tranfour, 14 deaths "breaking news", 14 deaths are being blamed on a storm in mid-america. take a look at this flooding in texas. right now, it is moving eastward out of texas, but it keeps coding some states, in the north, and ice making for some really dangerous driving conditions. this is coming at a very, very busy travel day. the sunday after thanksgiving. that car there, almost practically covered in floodwaters. dave spahr is here with a look at the forecast across the country. you are already seeing some airport delays? >> you are talking about that stormy action in the middle of the country, that is the eastern part of the storm that moved through our area just recently. we are having airport delays out of philadelphia, and out of newark, and new york airports as far as they are concerned, that they are running 45 minutes or so, hopefully that will not cause too much of a domino effect here on a big busy travel day. you never know. that is the latest we have those two east coast airports. a good portion of the country pulling off. the front is outlined here, you can see here, you can see ahead of it temperatures mild. but stormy weather along with the front still cold up in the north bay. napa 31, 28 for novato, 26 santa rosa, 40s along the peninsula for the most part. chilly territory, subfreezing as you can see from pleasanton. i do have a frost advisory, freeze warning, the darker pink is from the freeze warning. lighter pink going off into the frost advisory this morning. san francisco deliberately not in that. two pm p.m. we do have chilly spots hanging in the 40s and some of those inland valleys. then, they return, everybody gets into the 40s by 6 p.m. and there comes a really cold stuff this more morning -- tomorrow morning. tomorrow afternoon, temperatures warm up a little bit and then going forward into tomorrow night, cloud cover maybe not as cold as we have experienced. again, this system out towards the west, it might bring us some sprinkles early next week. still maybe that possibility here, it is going to throw some cloud cover a little bit for tomorrow night. upstream there is more moisture to watch out for to bring us some scattered showers. that will happen by the latter portion of the week. along the peninsula today, coastal white, 50s along the bay shoreline, 56 san mateo, redwood city 56, 57 palo alto. upper 50s to the south as you can see most readings there just shy of the 60-degree mark. i did mention the rain word. thursday seems to be the big day for that to arrive. lingering a little bit into friday, another system for next weekend. you can always track that on kron4.com with the radar, and let you know what is happening as you walk out the door. with rain in the forecast, it is important to remember when bay area highways gets wet, the number of crashes go up and the chp says many of these crashes are avoidable if drivers would just follow a few simple rules. kron4's stanley roberts looks at some of those rules in this addition of people behaving badly. speeone with rain, it is important to slow down. down. and yes, you can get a ticket for speeding even if you are not exceeding the maximum speed limit. driving on interstate 280 in the rain is interesting. i am actually driving between 55-60 because of low visibility and the slickness of the highway. if you want, you will see drivers passing me up at dangerous speeds. not dangerous of the road were dry, as you can see, it is not. speed is one of the leading causes of rain related crashes. often following too close for the conditions, not leaving enough stopping distance is also a major cause for crashes. i have a -- cam who has allied allied -- wide angle lens. this suv who just cut me off was too close for comfort. something else important to know, the driver had no lights on. inclement and clement weather when visibility is less than 1000 feet you are required, by law, to required, by law, to turn on your headlights. if you are using your wipers in continuous use, whichever comes first. this tour buses bus is not using lights while driving in the rain, however, he did have his signal on for a few miles. they do not count as lights in this case. a lot of drivers with no lights on, you can tell because their taillights are dark. remember, safety first, because a life you save could be your own. you might think that california highway patrol has bigger fish to fry. then to pull over someone for not using your headlights. they do, and they will. keep this in mind, say you crash during a rainstorm, and it is determined that you do not have your lights on. you could be held partially at fault for the crash. when it there. good morning, avery, how are you staying warm? >>reporter: i am standing i am standing in the sun, that is the only way to stay warm out here in downtown walnut creek. it is a creek. it is a very chilly 34 degrees. i don't know if you guys can re- decide behind me here at the bay, it's a chilly 34 degrees. i have been out here all morning, it is very cold and the cold air penetrates whatever you are wearing. i am wearing quite a few layers and i have gloves on, and a hat, a scarf, i had three pairs of socks all in an effort to stay warm particularly hard to. it's really hard to do that out here. i talked to one man out here, he said he describes the cold as god being bad at us, because he says it is that cold out. he has never experienced this kind of cold here in the bay area. not many people out here this morning in downtown walnut creek. if you have to bear the cold, cold, i suggest that you dress in layers as well it is very cold out here. i know it is going to rain we will take. for the second time in a week, several people have fallen ill after ingesting the synthetic marijuana drug called spice. it is happening in san diego. more than one dozen people were hospitalized on saturday. authorities say they had varying symptoms. several people were also hospitalized after overdosing on a bad batch of spice. police are trying to track down the drug and its makers. world leaders will meet this monday to try to iron out a new global agreement on climate change. the change. the meeting comes in paris, a little over two weeks after the deadly terrorist quite like these. starting monday, 195 countries will gather at a purpose about conference center north of paris. trying to find an agreement on worldwide limitations on greenhouse gases. with the complex negotiations were nearly overshadowed by the vicious terrorist attacks in paris two weeks ago, which ago, which at first seemed as if they might endanger the meetings here. in fact, some people felt the climate talks should be called off. >> i am not convincedi am not convinced about the necessity, at this moment, to organize this event. i think we have other priorities to date, even if the environment is very important. >>reporter: for most, those worldwide issues trump even terrorist concerns. in a way, the paris conference is too big to call off. everyone from the pope on down has emphasized how important it is for the planet to concentrate on the climate issue. just a few days ago, the best response to the terrorist attacks is to carry on with the climate summit. protecting the nearly 150 heads of state and 40,000 delegates who are expected will be a real challenge for french security forces. 2800 police and army will patrol the site itself, 8,000 more will reinforce the french borders and all 120,000 security personnel will be mobilized across the country. the leaders will only attend for the first two days of the conference, miles of roads will have to be closed off to get them to and from the conference site. something that is expected to throw normally impossible french traffic into chaos. with popular demonstrations, and serious negotiations, the climate conference will go on. it is something the world leaders feel cannot be construed -- postpone any longer. jim bitterman cnn, paris. this just in to the kron4 news into the kron4 news room, the paris police chief is saying about 100 people have not been arrested after a protest seeking a climate change deal. that protest recently turned violent and protest have been banned in paris after those paris attacks are banning large groups. the police chief is saying they have identified 200- 300 people who have violated that band. much more on the story later on here on kron4 news. as we frost advisories that have expired but it's still really chilly out there. good morning and thank you so much for joining us. i'm justine waldman. our meteorologist is tracking those low temperatures and he's live on the weather deck. how does it feel dave? we've got you out of the comforts in the studio and put you in the elements. >> it was so warm in that cold studio i miss it already. i don't have any gloves. avery harper is out because you have to have the gloves today. even in the peninsula, throw them on for a couple of hours, she's right it does warm you up. our protographer here, norbert, he doesn't have any gloves on either so i guess he can move more freely without them so you're off to a cold start. one other note i was fumbling around the chap stick. make sure you have that on hand too. helps out a little bit. how cold is it current numbers on the board. still chilly in the north bay although proved santa rosa up to a pair of threes so we are post freezing perhaps past the freezing era if you will, 44 downtown san francisco. look at that oakland up to 46 nice improvement. san mateo still working on it 31 and the far east bay temperatures quite chilly as you'll notice although livermore is getting progress at 39. what's the break down? i think we're checking san jose and the warm up brings us into mid 50s range for the early afternoon hours 4:00 or so about 55. 50 for about 6:00 p.m. about 8:00 we're talking about 45, there is the cool down as we go. look at high temperatures today this is the bet effort we're going to do. not a big improvement but upper 50s at work even though the sun is out there it gives you a cosmetic feel that it is warmer than it really is. don't have much in the way of a breeze working against us but mid to upper 50s is what you can expect and coming up later on i'll let you know about how the temperatures will be cooling off again for tonight to see if that frost advisory is still with us but you definitely want to have play store and it's free. happening now a search for a murder suspect on the peninsula. police believe a man stabbed his girlfriend to death at her home in san matteo. this happened saturday afternoon along b street near fifth avenue. kron 4 kate kagle brings us the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: police are combing san mateo county looking for this man. anthony kurinski it's very tragic. >> police first got the call at about noon. by the time they got to this home on north b street the 34 year old woman was dying of stab wounds. she died here and police began the manhunt for her 22 year old boyfriend. just 30 minutes later his car was spotted in a parking garage on industrial avenue in san carlos. just three miles away from the crime scene. sheriffs deputies searched the area evacuating this nearby urgent care center. officers thought the suspect might be hiding in the building but the boyfriend was know where to be found. by about 5:15 the building was clear, industrial avenue was back open and deputies widened their search. san mateo police say this is most likely an example of domestic violence turned deadly. >> this particular area is not generally known for this type of homicides such as this. >> kate kagle, kron 4 news. new this morning a possible motive in the shooting at a planned parenthood clinic in colorado springs you're looking now at the suspected gunman, robert deer. according to our network partners cnn, the suspect mentioned baby parts and expressed anti-abortion, anti- government views to investigators. police are not yet commenting on the motive. he is acused of killing three people including a police officer. community members gather to honor that fallen officer at the university of colorado and colorado springs. he was a campus police officer, he rushed to help fellowofficers at the planned parenthood clinic where he was shot and killed. kron 4 national correspondent mark meredith is in colorado springs with latest on the investigation. >> reporter: in custody since friday, still there's little police are saying about 57 year old robert lewis deer accused of killing three people including a police officer at this planned parenthood clinic in colorado. >> when i came out there was an officer that came over and said get back inside there's an active shooter. >> nick is one of several people still in shock over friday's attack. this weekend nick along with others including the town's mayor are paying their respects to those killed among them police officer garrett swaseehad killed while trying to rescue others. >> this wasn't his jurisdiction. he didn't have to respond but he did and he lost his life in the process. >> police aren't expected to release many if any details until monday but people who once knew the suspect tell us they aren't entirely surprised. >> you could tell he wasn't stable. he didn't have that conversation and things weren't cohesive. >> nine other people hurt in the attack are expected to make a full recovery. meanwhile the intention remains on what anything could have been done to stop friday' brutal assault. this morning all flags in colorado have been required to be at half staff until further notice by order of the state's governor. we do expect to learn a little bit more monday from investigators but this area where we are is expected to remain shutdown. reporting this morning in colorado springs i'm mark meredith for the media general television group. we are learning more about the suspect the shooter robert lewis deer. deer moved to colorado in 2014 and neighbors say he and a woman living there kept to themselves and according to the washington post deer had several run ins with the law before he moved to colorado. the newspaper is reporting that deer had previously been arrested in north carolina, accused of cruelty to animals and accused of being a peeping tom. he was not convicted in either case. big news now, this morning those warriors are 18 and 0, improving their nba record for the most wins to start the season. golden state beat the sacramento kings last night. seth curry lead the team in scoring with 19 points and he did so when he only played for 30 minutes. the warriors won by 120-101 and have won 18 in a row to start the season and they will try to make it 19 in a row on monday when they take on the jazz in bring your pets we'll be right back. breaking news overnight a police officer was shot and killed. veteran officer lloyd reed was killed after responding to a domestic violence call in new florence, that is about 60 miles east of pittsburgh in pennsylvania. the shooting lead to a six hour manhunt. police were able to eventually track down the suspect and he is being identified as ray shetler and is being treated for a gun shot wound to the shoulder. coming up, now that the rains have arrived you know that wet stuff where drivers panic when it falls on the ground? let's brush up on driving in atlanta 68, 83 going on for miami meanwhile there's the cold air behind the stormy action that you just saw there moving through and now the appalachian mountains looks like. temperatures were graduated up to the 30s in the north bay 44 san francisco around the perimeter of the bay it's upper 30s to lower 40s at work and the far east bay it's 30s pleasanton 33, and livermore at 39. good news they're moving rapidly now with dry air and you do tend to see that happen early in the day, so we'll be by the noon hour get those temperatures moving a little bit. futurecast for today here is the warming process although in a couple spots still a little cool and those higher elevations particularly in the far east bay and the hills know it will be a little chillier 40s to some of the valleys meanwhile so it's kind of the mid zone that we'll see things happen and here is the cool down again tonight. already by 6:00, there is the progress of the 40s rather now the 30s you can see showing up there in that kind of purple color, by the way the frost advisory and freeze warning has now also expired for us but this maybe enough to reinstate it at least for tomorrow morning but by 7:00 a.m. there you'll see the progress of the 30s, the 40s to the south bay peninsula and portions of the southern marin county and into tomorrow now the thinking as we get into monday and monday night particularly more high clouds building with the system out to sea maybe that will support our temperatures overnight a little bit. now as far as the rain producer for us we'll mention a couple sprinkles but beyond that point don't expect much out of that except the induction of cloud cover. for the peninsula it's upper 50s for a high, quite chilly still today along the bay shoreline the same process as well mid 50s will do it. maybe we'll graduate to upper 50s happening for the south bay and in the seven day forecast we're mentioning again a few sprinkles on monday. the bigger feature will be the induction of the cloud cover for monday night helping to support the temperatures overnight. there's enough to keep us out of frost and freezing advisory and thursday is the big day to lock for scattered showers as yet a new system comes our way, unlike its predecessors this won't be a cold core low so it won't be quite the low snow levels but still snow. >> thank you, dave. with rain in the forecast it is important to remember when bay area highways get wet the number of crashes goes up. and the chp says many crashes are avoidable as drivers would just follow a few simple rules, so kron 4 tammy roberts has a look at some of those rules in this edition of people behaving badly. >> reporter: when it rains it's important to slowdown and yes, you can get a ticket for speeding even if you aren't exceeding maximum speed limit. driving on interstate 280 in the rain is interesting. i'm actually driving between 55 and 60 because of the low visibility and the slickness of the highway so if you watch you'll see drivers passing me up at dangerous speeds and probably not dangerous if the road were dry as you can see it is not. speed is one of the leading causes of rain related crashes. caution following too close for the conditions and not leaving enough stopping distance is also a major cause for crashes. a hidden dashcam has a wide angle lens so it may be hard to judge distance in the video but this suvhad that just cut me off was too close for comfort and something else important to note the driver had no lights on and inclement weather when visibility is less than a thousand fire you're required by law to turn on your headlights or if you're using your wipers in a continuous use whichever comes first. this tour bus is not using lights while driving in the rain. however it did have it on for a few miles and the blinkers don't count as lights on this case. there are a lot of drivers with no lights on. you can tell because their taillights are dark. remember safety first when hitting the road because awe life you save could be your own now you may think california highway patrol had the bigger picture than to pull over someone for not using their headlights but they do and they will. keep this in mind. let's say you crash during a rain storm, as determined that you didn't have your lights fully on. you could be held partially at fault for the crash so when it rains make it a habit to turn on your headlights even if you have automatic lights. that way it becomes habit forming. just saying. one peninsula, kron 4 news. an elderly man in washington state is alive this morning thanks to four good samaritans. they got him to safety after his car got stuck on train tracks right before a freight train came faced with a man who just drove this car on to train tracks right in front of their auburn home, confused not knowing how he got there. >> i was trying to get to auburn. >> you're in auburn and you black friday fell 10% to $10.4 billion this year but that is down from 11 billion last year. thanksgiving sales also dropped by the same percentage. many retailers began offering those bargain deals long before thanksgiving, limiting the impact of black friday specials; however adobe says online sales jumped 14% on friday compared to last year. and as most of you know online shopping requires an quickly a lot of people are in air travel if you are headed to the east coast, laguardia is down a little bit due to volume traffic issues laguardia airport, jfk and newark seem to be okay and dfw, a lot of people go through that if you're on aa, going through dfw, a slight delay. our temperatures have improved if you will up in the north bay particularly we're at 30s on the board and 45, that's pretty pressed of already the same as downtown san francisco 49 up to richmond heading further to the east okay they drop off but recovered nicely there what we had this morning earlier, antioch 39 and livermore and 35 for pleasant on around the perimeter of the bay, temperatures in the 30-40- degree range, 33 san mateo still needs recovery there. a break down for you in san jose down to the in downtown walnut creek and the sign behind me reads a chilly 34 degrees if it has for the past couple of hours and people i've seen here walking downtown walnut creek are taking heed to the advice overed earlier. bundle up you want to wear layers and i have on a few layers myself and a few people out here braving those chilly temperatures this morning take a lessen to what they have to say. >> layered all the way through, four layers. i'd never do this but i have the gloves on this morning and a little bit of the ears. >> growing up in the bay area in the oakland area, it gets pretty cold. this cold and this is like god's mad at us cold but it could be worse do you know what i mean? >> and that is the consensus i'm getting from people here that it's cold but yes it could be worse. again lafayette. the break sent water rushing down the streets, kron 4 has the latest on repair efforts. >> reporter: this the scene from front and side yard friday. hundreds if not thousands of gallons of water gushing through the fence after eastbay mud says a 66 year old cast iron pipe burst on relief station road. >> heard this rumbling and it's like a scene out of a movie that was interesting. >> though deep underground this is what caused the mess, a splintered 15-foot section of damaged pipe, possibly busted open by cold weather. >> luckily the break is far enough away from the house that it missed part of the house. if it was another hundred feet up, it would probably flood the entire house. >> the broken main reported just before 5:00 friday afternoon, since then crews working non-stop to replace the damaged section with pvc piping. strong plastic that will serve as a permanent replacement. >> aren't you glad you're out of water for a little while and not heat? >> oh, well yeah. of course. of course yes. >> a neighbor lives directly in front and just above the damage. >> how are you making do? >> my mom had to go get some water from a safeway. just kind of living like the amish way i guess. >> so is down the road he may have to seek financial restitution from eastbay mud for the harm done to his yard. >> luckily we have relatives close by so we just came back from taking a shower and feeding the kids. >> in lafayette, kron 4 news. >> eastbay mud says once water is restored it could still be a few more days before that road is reopened. also this morning a newborn baby was found buried alive under asphalt in southern california. deputies discovered the baby girl crying on a bike path in compton on friday. she was found wrapped in a blanket. it is believed she was only 36- 48 hours old when she was found. police say charges could be filed against the person who abandoned this newborn baby girl. >> and that hole i believe that's the hole and it had pieces of wood on top of it with rocks on top of it and when she took the stuff off she found a newborn baby. >> right now the charges are attempted murder and child endangerment of the newborn. >> the baby's vital signs were checked and she was taken to the hospital. she is currently listed in stable condition and will remain under hospital observation. coming up on kron 4 news weekend more protests at donald trump rallies in florida after this break we will hear from the republican presidential candidate and his message to the latest protester. a live look outside right now at san francisco international airport on this busy travel day sunday. for the weekend is the last day of the san francisco international auto show. dozens of car makers are showing off their newest models, the 2016 ones, this is happening from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and it costs $10 to get in. in decision 2016 news donald trump faced protesters once again this weekend in florida but this time, he tried a different approach to eject the person who interrupted him. the republican presidential candidate held a rally in sarasota on saturday. when a protester started shouting, trump asked the crowd not to hurt him and to nicely escort the person out. this comes after trump supporters punched and kicked a black lives matter protester who interrupted a rally in alabama. trump later suggested that that protester should have been "roughed up." >> at the last rally we had one person, we had 15,000 people, we had one person who was really really being bad. really being bad. and it was horrible. it was horrible and we said get them out get them out. we were a little bit rough and i got criticized so today, you're my witness. could i have been nicer than that? >> [applause] >> trump's next rally is on monday in georgia. president obama and his daughters did their part to help celebrate small business saturday. the president along with his daughters visited a local bookstore in washington. after the bookstore and where they did browsing and buying, they stopped for some frozen treats at a nearby d.c. pop sickle shop. small business saturday is an american shopping day held the day after black friday to celebrate and support local businesses. a live look outside right now at the san mateo bridge, beautiful day out there today but very chilly and there is rain in the forecast. dave sparr will have a look at the temperatures coming up. for the weekend it is day two of the etsy holiday emporium in san francisco. there will be 180 local artisans selling their goods at pier 35 from 11:00 a.m. until 5. it was very busy yesterday. admission is free. for the weekend a look now at four things that will be happening this week across the bay area. we will start with the warriors. they won last night taking their record to 18 & 0 and on monday they will try to extend their winning streak the warriors will take on the jazz in utah. golden state if they can pull off the victory they will improve to 19 & 0, tip off for monday's game is set for 6:00. also on monday, the man accused in the planned parenthood shooting in colorado will make this first court appearance. robert lewis deer is acused of shooting and killing three people including a police officer on friday. on monday we are hoping to learn more about the motive behind that deadly shooting. and the first trial for one of the six officers involved in the death of freddie gray will take place on monday. gray died while in police custody in baltimore. his death lead to protests that erupted into arson. officer william porter will be the first of the six officers to go on trial for gay's death. each officer will be tried separately in consecutive trials and the charges against these officers range from second degree murder to misconduct in office. and as always we are tracking the weather forecast here for you on kron 4. there is rain expected later on this week. chilly temperatures is what we are feeling this morning. meteorologist dave sparr will have a look at the forecast. >> good morning everybody and we did have frost advisories and the freeze warning that was posted earlier, we're past 9:00 so that's now since expire and a nice recovery on the board here look at some of these temperatures, 33 santa rosa 46 novato, may not seem like much right now but just a few hours we still have 20s going on, 40s in the peninsula hasn't changed too much although half moon bay at 55 and around the bay perimeter talking about 30s and 40s so still quite chilly at san mateo at 33 oakland 46 and richmond at 50 and far east bay need some improvement still in 30s territory. so having said all that how do we stand with everything here? well in futurecast i want to go forward in terms of the cloud cover business i'm talking about on monday, we go forward today and it's lovely. tonight 4:00 a.m. to start your day tomorrow maybe high clouds in there but on balance for tomorrow we'll call it variable clouds, i'd say that but between us kids here maybe a sprinkle or two is about all we'll expect. on balance kind of a variable cloudy story for monday and then go through the rest of the day to get back to mostly clear bite time we get to tuesday. what we're waiting for is a system by the middle of the week and latter portion of the week you'll see that on the seven day forecast. futurecast for the temperatures here is the warm up that happens by 2:00 p.m. as you can see tonight, at 6:00 p.m. there is the coverage of the 40s returning and back to the 30s we go. now that's about the time that that cloud cover starts to build so it doesn't allow us to warm up as well tomorrow afternoon, a little bit more muted as you can see in the warm up but still moderation, and into monday night. that's the thing you need to take a wait how are temperatures across the bay? eastbay shoreline mid 50s at work for an ultimate high more muted for the far east bay where these numbers will be in the lower 50s, walnut creek at 54, avery is and 52 for brentwood, livermore at 52. here is the seven day forecast we are talking about. thursday is where the scattered showers start to work their magic there and the mid latitude moisture plume here and meaning the snow levels probably won't be pushed down to 2000 feet like its predecessor before but still mountain snow as you can plan on, the entire drama at kron 4.com on our weather section to let you know what's going on. back to breaking news we've been telling you out this morning. severe weather is wreaking havoc on parts of the south and midwest. flooding is being blamed for more than a dozen deaths in texas and kansas while icy conditions in oklahoma snarled traffic and caused widespread power outages. reporter jonathan cooper shows us the damage. >> its been crazy. i've honestly been waiting for it to come falling down like completely. >> reporter: businesses near 15th and santa fe in edmond were in for quite the surprise saturday morning. >> it came crashing down exploded and then we lost power for a good three hours afterwards. >> this power pole in its lines the pole barely hanging on along the base knocked out power to surrounding buildings including this liquor store. the collapse is just one of many problems caused by ice in the metro this weekend. early this morning this ups truck flipped along i240. other cars spun out hitting black ice on bridges and overpasses. but the big problem for many are scenes like this. accumulating ice bringing down trees and in some cases blocking roadways. the ice also wreaking haver orange on power lines leaving thousands in the dark. this early season storm already leaving some ready for warmer weather. >> i love and miss my summers. >> that was jonathan cooper reporting for us this morning. a total of 14 deaths are being blamed on that storm. happening today, the national security agency is expected to end its sweeping collection of americans phone records. the controversial program began 14 years ago under president george w. bush and was kept secret until edward snowden leaked its existence in 2013. in june, president obama signed a reform measure that took away the agency's authority to collect those records. under the new law, the nsa must get a warrant or a court order to collect phone data from telecommunications companies. facebook has extended its parental leave for its employees worldwide. now, all new parents will receive four months of paid baby leave no matter of their gender. the policy comes just days after facebook ceo mark zuckerberg announced he will take two months of paternity leave when his daughter is born. zuckerberg shared in a facebook post studies show that when working parents take time to be with their for a minute about what they do will i make the crosses. >> reporter: arianna nichols sent more than 6300 crosses to 96 departments in 33 states and she started making them in september. she makes them out of beads and sends them topless and firefighters to carry with them. >> put them in their pockets. >> they come in many different colors. if she knows a department has recently lost an officer she will send extra blue and black crosses. >> to keep the memory of the officers that fall. >> the police department got a bag of 160 crosses earlier this month along with a handwritten note. arianna writes she hopes her gifts will inspire people to pray and she hopes they will protect the people carrying them. several members of the department took pictures to send back to the girls, and sargent jim was one of those and he can look up and see it. >> that's very nice. it made may day. >> it's a nice gesture during a time when there's so much criticism of law enforcement. >> without public support the police department doesn't function and it's nice to hear someone so young that she would take the time to make the little crosses. >> they do get some of the support from time to time and they are always appreciated. >> there's all sorts of bad news in this world that you hear every day but when you have the innocence of a child that's willing to reach out and say that i care about you and i made this for you i think that's pretty special. >> she sometimes spends two hours a day working on the crosses to working hard for a good cause. >> i make the crosses the sooner it
