back to kron4 news weekend. we started with a lot of cloud cover fog this morning. and a lot of it is starting to burn o it's fog -- off. it's foggy -- foggy at golden gate bridge. temperatures right now slowly starting to climb. a lot of 50s and 60s. san francisco very mild at 61. and 56 leaving the shows house in santa rowa -- santa rosa. but the cloud cover will burn off 70s approaching lunchtime and at 3 it looks like we could see a few pockets of will 0s -- 80s. temperatures trending well bob where we should be this time year. 70s in today's forecast. temperatures about 7 or 8 degrees warmer than usual. fremont 5. 81 for ever green. similar conditions in the east bay. 76 in concord and temperatures pretty much with 10 degrees of each other today. we will see low 70s for downtown san francisco. and oakland a high of 74 and 76 in santa rosa. still dry around the bay area. that will continue on into early next week. we have the strong ridge of high pressure again not only bringing warm weather to us but the entire state of california. you will notice some moisture well to the north affecting the pacific northwest. this ridge is going to move eastward into the middle of the woke allowing for the opportunity for rain to develop. so we are tracking a system dropping down from the gulf of alaska that could bring rain as far south as santa cruz and the storm will arrive late wednesday and nine into thursday. marty. >> erica thanks. the midterm election changed the landscape in congress gop winning a majority in the senate to go along with the majority in the house. >> president obama and democratslike g -- licking their wounds and look ahead to 2016. michael joins to us talk about the fallout obama on friday meeting with congressional leaders in both parties and having a lunch on friday i think the headline was obama and gop lawmakers break bread but not ice. >> and no heads were broken at that meeting. but clearly what's going on right now is a showdown in the next few weeks. president obama made it clear he wants this congress this house of representatives to pass the senate immigration bill which was a bipartisan bill passed a year ago through senate. he said if they don't do that he is going to enact immigration can reform through executive order through a combination of amnesty and path to citizenship 2, 4, 5, 7 million undocumented people living here today. john boehner said basically don't poise opt waters or -- poison the waters or it could cause terrible precautions and -- repee -- represent percussion and you have a setup for confrontation at the end of the year. if he does it and if congress doesn't enact it and i don't anticipate the house of representatives taking a vote and doing it, i think that the president is in a box and he has to do it. if he fails to do it he will do serious damage not just to its presidency but to the democrats in 2016. he is probably going to do it and then you will see what war breaks out afterwards. how much retaliation takes place and what consequences for a potential you know another government shutdown. >> yeah. we heard last week mixed messages on the one hand everybody is talking nice and saying that the american people want us to work together. >> right. >> on the other hand the president is saying well if you don't do what i want i am going to go over your head anyway. >> i think part of the problem of this election was the president never really made that point in the runup to the election there were things that could have been done that should have been done that weren't getting done and now to do it after the election will probably look like spoiled sour grapes but to the president it's his warning shot to say are we going to work together or not if you are telling me we are not on this specific thing of immigration we have a problem. and the irony of this is that if the republicans thought about this, they would want the president to do it. to take it off them so they can scream and ranting and rake andget it over with and move on. because this is a issue that if they decide to make a war, will do damage to them in 2016. no matter which way they try to talk about it. >> good point. >> so part of it is could be a little facade and faux rebillion that once it happens it will go away and they can focus on repealing obamacare but if they were smart it would be something where they would make some fuss and let it go away let the president take the heat for it. and move on. >> and incoming senate majority leader mitch mcconnell the kentucky republican, he talked about focusing on the epa and reigning them in. >> and what does that mean? environmental protection agency put out a rule last year that drastically restricts the amount of carbon that coal producing plants power plants would put out. and the only way to combat that would be either with two-ways congress can deal with it one is legislation overturn the directive which could probably be vetoed by the president the second would be to put in a line in a spending bill forebidding them from spending money tone force it which would make it tougher. because then it's combined inside spending for a lot of other things and medicare obama care and you name it and are you going veto a bill on those grounds because one particular section? those are the inside politics you will be seeing in the next year or six months or so as pub way and how far they can push the president and get their agenda done because the president still has the veto power. and i think rand paul is making jokes about the president getting tired of veto no president gets tired of the word veto it's their ultimate power against the congress. and the democrats know that they have more than 40 senators in the senate and enough to prevent a. >> an override. >> enough to not just to block a veto but prevent bills from getting to the floor by doing mitch mcconnell did to the democrats in filibustering them. >> so are we looking at more of the same here? >>i think the possibility is extremely high of more of the same. which is bad for the republicans and good for hillary clinton in 2016. >> uh-huh. >> and that's what you will see a lot of people people like chris christie scott walker and others trying to take pot shotsat hillary clinton and talk about their record as governors because they don't want to ruin themselves. >> separate they will selves from connor. >> how has john boehner's he approach will change. >> i think that bane nor. ner will have to -- boehner will have to find out how much they will give him and i think democrats are going to be a major stumbling block in the senate. >> okay. it's going to be interesting as always. >> yes. >> thanks michael. we will be right back. turning to bay area sports it was a ballet of unbeaten teams last night in the nba as the warriors took on rockets in houston. it was a close game but at one
