Kron 4 meteorologist bree throughout rig as watching the radar for us to see how things are shaping up. Said, hey there, no, well, yes, certainly drying off along the coast. But for those of you in our valleys. Enjoy those light to moderate showers. Now, remember, this is the peak of our fire season. So this rain storm is going to be our saving grace, not going to completely put an end to fire season, but at least its going to keep it in check and delay it for as long as we can until the month of october passes. So lets take a look at radar for because we are noticing very dry conditions along the coast. But as you make your way inland, thats where were finally starting to see the bulk of the wet weather as that storm track has now shifted to our south and east and just to the east of fairfield are tracking some moderate rain there, but drying out for most of our north bay valleys. Now those of you in the east and south bay certainly getting the bulk of that moisture. San ramon starting to dry out light scattered showers there. But fremont big bulls eye over you. We are tracking moderate rain out there. So please drive safely, though. Those of you commuting along watch out for those slick roads because we are going to notice those gusty winds and even some heavy downpours at times in that area. But as we shift southward, that some are going to see santa clear, widespread light scattered showers and those of you in san jose, that rain is just knocking on your door once again. I know youve been noticing some on again off again, hit or miss showers. And thats when were really going to see for most of our valleys. In addition to that, gusty winds, especially along the coast, thats going to be the big weather story for bay area coastline as we start to dry out with gusts upwards of 45 Miles Per Hour or less through monday morning, winds out of the southsoutheast. Thats what were going to see throughout most of your monday until we notice calmer conditions, 20 mile per hour. Wind gusts by your monday afternoon. So it is going to be a very breezy night. So dont be surprised if there are any more down trees or downed power lines, make sure to keep that umbrella. And even those flashlights handy just in case rain totals, though, very impressive for the bay area. Those of you in Sonoma County at the airport there, almost 3 quarters of an inch of rain in downtown San Francisco. Slightly less than a 3rd of an inch of rain. The last time we saw rain amounts in one day alone was back in january. So, yeah, its been a fairly dry pattern up until now. We are going to notice some possible popup thunderstorms because of daytime heating sunday afternoon, monday afternoon through your monday night. So just keep that in mind with about a 3rd of an inch of rain or less highest amounts for those of you in santa rosa. But im tracking your full work week forecast. A lot to heavy rains and gusty winds also bringing down some trees in parts of the bay area in the north bay, the National Park service and point rays snapping a picture of this fallen tree injures hill. The nps reported wind gusts of up to 45 Miles Per Hour and south winds up to 30 Miles Per Hour. And viewer brian maalik sending us this picture of a pretty big branch down in downtown san jose near highway 87. He says this tree came down around 11. 45 this morning . Well, theres a wind advisory for the coast and also the coastal hills in the bay area. National Weather Service says it will be in effect until 04 00am those wind gusts could get up to 45 Miles Per Hour and could lead to more downed trees. And even some possible power outages. Kron fours amanda hari joining us live tonight at Rockaway Beach in pacifica. Amanda, still looking a little windy out there. Yeah, its been windy year all afternoon and into the evening. And when those wind gusts really pick up, you can feel some sand and debris. But the most impressive part of being out here has been the water right behind me here. You can see all of the waves coming in. And i spoke to some people who told me they came out here just to see the tight. This doesnt look like a good place to swim. Doesnt know. Now while many people were spending their sunday inside to avoid the rain and wind, others decided to come out to Rockaway Beach to see how the weather is impacting the tights. Got a right now. Little bit of rain earlier when the waves are coming in. Pretty nice out. John barnum works at stanford. He says when theres stormy weather, he always comes by Rockaway Beach to take pictures and video of that high. He says hes especially grateful for the rain. My whole family lives of their imports. Riedel says she didnt expect this type of weather. Its been very crazy today. Every place we went, we got soaked, but we made the best of it. And yet, they plan to drive the Pacific Coast highway down to san diego. Theyre stopping along the way to see the sites, including Rockaway Beach, the waves. Whats your favorite part of the when it crashed into the rocks . I spoke with the national Weather Service forecaster. He told me there could be some lightning strikes. All right, amanda, thanks a lot. The light rain and windy weather prompting Service Disruptions on the San Francisco bay ferry today. The agency took to twitter shortly before one this afternoon to announce those disruptions saying, quote, were experiencing some Service Disruptions and cancellations due to dodgy conditions in the bay. But it looks like those ferries were able to resume service around 3. 30, this afternoon. Bart also dealt with some Service Disruptions earlier due to the weather, the Transit Agency reporting several trains became disabled between embarcadero and lake merritt. That happened around 11 00am 2 of those trains were on the oakland side forcing eastbound trains to turn back to San Francisco. Luckily ac transit did offer some free rides across the bay for those bart riders. Things were able to get back to normal, though train started moving again about 2 hours later. Weve got a developing story tonight out of the city. An explosion in San Franciscos tenderloin neighborhood. Shattering several windows. This is video from the citizen app that showing the aftermath. This happened just before 4 oclock this afternoon near the intersection of Willow Street and polk street. Police say no one was injured in this explosion, but a parked vehicle was damaged. No arrests have been made. Anyone who has any information about what caused this to happen is asked to give sfpd a call. A 29 yearold man injured in a shooting in valais last wednesday has died. Police say the shooting happened in the 2600 block of springs road around 3 in the afternoon. The man was rushed to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound. He died from his injuries today. No word on a suspect at this time. Investigators now trying to determine a motive as well. If you have any Information Contact the Vallejo Police department, this is the citys 19th homicide of the year. Fire also breaking out in vallejo this morning at a mobile home park. This is video that was sent to us by a kron. 4 viewer showing that fire smart king sparking this morning at the tall trees, mobile home park. Thats on broadway street. You can see a large plume of smoke. Theyre rising up into the sky so far, no reports of any injuries. Some more developing news tonight that were following. The Alameda County Sheriffs Office is investigating a shooting death in san lorenzo as a case of possible road rage. Deputies responding to the intersection of the sperry and boulevard and lewelling boulevard just before 4. 30, this afternoon they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics immediately responded and pronounced him dead at the scene. That intersection has been closed ever sense for that investigation. And it has remained closed. Deputies say the suspect involved took off from the scene towards i80. Sheriffs office is asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened or has any video of what happened to give them a call. In the east bay, one person had to be rescued after a car flipped over in oakland. Police say it happened on 35th avenue and jordan road just before 2 this afternoon. This is video from the citizen app. Opd receiving several calls reporting someone being trapped inside. Oakland fire were able to safely remove that person from the vehicle. They were uninjured. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Santa rosa police break up a huge side show friday night. They say around 200 people were blocking the intersection. And west avenue in sebastopol road. Police on scene made more than 50 traffic stops in issued nearly 20 citations. Officers also told 6 vehicles and arrested 4 people. Well, this week is the start of National Child passenger safety week. The national Highway Traffic Safety Administration says nearly half of car seats. 46 1 are being misused. State law says all children under the age of 2 are required to ride in a rearfacing car seat unless that child is 40 pounds or 40 inches tall or more children, 8 and older or at least 4 foot, 9 inches in height may ride in the back seat of a vehicle and a properly fitted safety belt. A fatal Drug Overdose numbers are on the rise. Its an ongoing problem plaguing the city of San Francisco since january 2020 17,000 san franciscans have died from Drug Overdose. Thats nearly double the number of those killed from covid19 in the same time frame this month. A group of San Francisco supervisors released a new strategy to confront this problem its called San Francisco recovers. The resolution proposing using 100 Million Dollars the city earned from litigation settlements with drugmakers to power. The program. I think this is really an important moment to make sure that were spending this money prudently on a plan to make sure that were maximizing the funding we already have in public health, criminal justice and all the other things that we need to do. San Francisco City supervisors will hold a meeting next month to begin a conversation with Department Heads and continue the push. Take a look at this. Santa clara county firefighters rescuing an owl that was trapped inside of a basketball hoop stand. It happened overnight in los altos hills. Firefighters had to get creative to get this young owl out. Crews lowering a 12 foot pike pole down the medal stand. The bird latched on and before that and then was gently and slowly to safety. Those firefighters say the al was unharmed and actually remain pretty calm for this yeah, it was then returned back into the wild. Very cool. Getting a little bit of rain will a little more than a little hang out. There it is. I love when the city gets a nice little washed by mother appreciates the rodriguez joining us now with though, where the rain is still falling. Yeah. And for those of you in our valleys, you definitely have the bragging rights tonight because were starting to dry out for the most part along the coast, even in the east bay shoreline. But our north bay and east bay valleys, finally getting the bulk of that moisture that most of us along the coast. Were definitely enjoying this morning into early afternoon. So lets take a look right now at radar for because we are noticing fremont light scattered showers with the bulk of the wet weather. Now shifting to the north and east into pleasanton heading towards and also we are tracking some pretty moderate downpours there and widespread light scattered showers, concord drying out for the most part. And for those of you in our north bay valleys in for fairfield and vacaville, those showers starting to exit as that storm track shifts to the east and for our south bay palo alto light, scattered showers. Theyre very hit and miss in nature there. So not very uniform, but still rain nonetheless. Everyones excited tonight with campbell tracking some light scattered rain and san jose currently in between these lines of showers. But youre about to see another soaking of some widespread light rain within the next couple of minutes. And as you can see, the main event out of the pacific and now shifting east into the east bay. But still keep your umbrella handy, especially for those of you in our north bay and east bay valleys because we are still going to see some light scattered hit or miss showers for those of you near santa rosa, you could actually see a cell as early as monday afternoon because of daytime heating. We could still see popup thunderstorms that the slight chance of thunder and lightning. So pretty active weather that can give us quick. Heavy downpours and gusty winds, vacaville as well. You could see some popup thunderstorms with the cell possibly forming shortly before 8 oclock in the evening after the sun has set. That is certainly one the atmosphere gets a little bit more active anytime we get that daytime heating it really an stabilizes our atmosphere. But by tuesday morning, drying out and clearing out. So were expecting to see really just about a 3rd of an inch of rain or less traces amounts for downtown San Francisco into san jose. Santa rosa, though, you could pick up an additional 3rd of an inch of rain. So fingers crossed that pans out because we certainly need it. We are seeing right now very crisp, calm night out there in the bay area noticing and feeling a lot drier and clearer and also cleaner for the most part. Temperatures out there right now low to mid 60s. So were just tracking about a 5 degree spread from our coolest coastal city and our warmest inland valley. Usually its in that 22 30 degree range for bay area summers. But overnight lows tonight, very little change. The temperatures right now upper 50s to low 60s for most of the bay area. And were going to hold steady with low to mid 70s for warmest inland valleys. So about 5 to 10 degrees below average downtown San Francisco and oakland, very seasonal temperatures in the low 70s with Half Moon Bay. 65 degrees. Exactly where you should be for this time of year. And were not really going to warm up until thursday. Thats when we begin fall back in the 80s. And then temperatures slowly rebounding by next weekend. Very seasonal forecast going to get very boring after monday you like that, though, because, yeah, we definitely with these drought conditions. This is much needed. Usually see a storm like this. Yeah. In october, right around halloween time. So its really great that in september were getting this nice treat them. Well, its pushing back any chance of of fires popping up here in the bay area. So thats really what we need to do yeah, i think lawrence really worried about our chief meteorologist were like, okay, this is the peak of fire season. Yeah, were usually really nancy around this time. But this is like finally a breath, a sigh of relief. So really awesome for us. Thanks for everything. Skies. All right.
