( pam ) another big story we are following tonight... two deputies are in serious condition ... following a shoot-out in northern california. the shooting happened this morning in yuba county... that's about an hour north of sacramento. deputies were called to a rastafarian church... where they were told a disgruntled employee was pulling out the plants. when the deputies arrived... the suspect opened fire, shooting both of them. the man was able to get away... but was later found dead inside a home. the deputies were airlifted to a hospital .. and have undergone surgery. the suspect's name has not been released. (grant) prosecutors have filed felony vehicular manslaughter charges against a california bus driver... in connection with a wreck that killed four people. the incident happened last august in merced county... the bus was heading to washington state when it struck a large highway post - head on. it practically sliced the bus in half. four people where killed - and nearly 20 others were injured. the driver, mario vasquez is now facing four felony counts of vehicular manslaughter...he was also charged with five misdemeanors. a chp investigation found vasquez slept about 6 and a half hours - the previous day. investigators also say he violated laws relating to maximum driving time for commerical drivers. (pam) a woman, blinded by a bleach attack in san francisco's tenderloin.... is left to suffer for nearly 15 minutes before help arrives. police say... just after seven-sunday evening, the suspect... an adult male... told the woman to leave the area. and when she didn't... the suspect came back with a cup of bleach... which he threw in her face. in the video, the victim can be seen with her head lowered occasionally ... wiping her eyes. one man can be seen checking on her, but many walk right on by. eventually someone appears to call for help ... and paramedics arrive on scene. (sot) police say, noone has been arrested and the motive for the attack is still under investigation. (pam) kron four's rob fladeboe reports .... the windows were rolled up and the temperature ..well over 90 degrees. it was just before 5 o'clock monday when a freeway service provider tow truck stopped to check out what he thought was a disabled vehicle here on highway 17 near 280. he found the female driver was passed out and her 2-month old daughter was in the passenger seat.officer ross lee/chp "....the windows were rolled up and the temperatures outside was ovr 90 degrees so the temperature inside the vehicle was much higher. the child appeared to be asleep but she was panting...." 26-year old arianna rolling of san pablo was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence the baby was taken to valley medical center and is listed in good condition. babies and children are especially vulnerable in such cases says vmc trauma surgeon dr. adella garland.dr. adella garland/valley medical center "....we tend to associate this with high temperatures but the truth is even with an outdoor temperature of 60 degrees, within 10-15 minutes the temperature can reach a level that is dangerous. dr garland says babies and children have less ability to control their own body temperatures so they can overheat three to five times faster than adults. the chp says both mother and her child were at risk in this case.(officer ross lee/chp "....we're very grateful to the tow truck driver because any longer in that car and the outcome might have been a lot worse...."it might not have made a difference for arianna rolling, who is also facing charges of obstructing justice and child endangerment, but in general, dr. garland says extra caution is a must when children are riding in cars in hot weather.dr. adella garland/valle medical centerin san jsoe rob fladeboe kron 4 news (pam) a reminder for all dog owners... you never want to leave you pet in a car... especially in this hot weather. (take vo) a novato costco customer is paying for making that mistake. a shopper noticed a dog locked in a hot car for more than an hour and notified the police and the humane society. the windows are slightly rolled down, but the dog was noticeably distressed and panting heavily. the dog owner was cited for leaving the pet in the car. a representative with the humane society says - owners may not realize how quickly it gets hot in the summer sun. (pam) the southern california man charged in the murder of his son has changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. aramazd andressian senior was arrested earlier this summer on suspicion of killing his five-year-old son. the boy-- aramazd andressian junior-- had been missing since april when the two went on a trip to disneyland. the father later told authorities .. he buried the boy's body in a remote part of santa barbara county. (craig hum/deputy district attorney): "it is our position that the evidence clearly supports the fact that this was planned, it was premeditated, it was deliberate. he had this in mind before he actually committed the murder." prosecutors believe the motive was to get back at his ex- wife. andressian senior is scheduled for sentencing in late august. he is facing 25 -years to life in prison. (grant) bill cosby is on the hunt for new lawyers. cosby's lead defense lawyer brian mcmonagle filed the paperwork today to withdrawl as cosby's counsel. he wants off the case before a cosby's retrial that's scheduled to begin in november. cosby's sex assault trial ended in a deadlocked jury in june... a judge declared a mistrial. mcmonagle says cosby is in the process of securing new lawyers. (grant) still no verdict in the fraud trial of former biotech ceo martin shkreli (shkrel'-ee). prosecutors say shkreli looted his drug company to pay back investors in two failed hedge funds he ran. the defense says investors got their original investments back and even made hefty profits. shkreli is best known for hiking up the price of a life-saving drug... and then for trolling his critics on social media. shkreli could face up to 20 years in prison... but will likely receive far shorter sentence. jurors will continue delibarting tomorrow. (pam) are the seats on commercial airplanes getting so small and so crowded ... that passengers are in danger?
