Ella you spoke with the mans uncle . Yes its been a difficult week for the family since the inctment. Al haggagis uncle tells me the accusations against his nephew came as a shock to the family whove never seen evidence of radicalization. 22yearold Amer Alhaggagi was charged by a federal grand jury for allegedly trying to support the terror group isis. The fbi arrested him last november after prosecutors claim alhaggagi told an undercover agent he planned to attack various bay area locations like Berkeley High school where he himself graduated in 2013, uc berkeley, along with the mission and castro districts in san francisco. An attorney read what they say are al haggagis own words aloud in the courtroom last friday. Sot i live close to san francisco, thats like the gay capital of the world. Distrought by the allegations al haggagis uncle met with kron 4 news to defend his innocence saying the charges took their family by surprise. Sot hashem awnallah, uncle of course they were shocked. Naturally. They were not aware of what was going on. They were not aware there was any trouble. Al haggagi grew up in the east bay and most recently lived in west oakland. His uncle says he is a charitable person who helped those around him which contradicts the charges filed against him. Totally not violent or radicalized. grant fire investigators in Contra Costa County say an arsonist was at work in broad daylight athree times thursday. pam those fires were very small, but they are the latest in a string of intentionally set fires which could all be related. Spencer this blackened area between homes and an outofservice Railroad Track is where firefighters responded yesterday around noon. The 30 year old woman was riding a bus on kearny and Market Street last. Thats when police say a group started harassing her. When she pulled out her phone to call police they started beating her. The victim then dropped her phone. The attackers grabbed it then ran off. Some riders say the violence has them on edge. Doing a protest against muni myself, and walking to work. Terisa you feel that strongly . Rider yes vicki we recently told you about another attack on muni where a group of teens violently assaulted a boy. It happened back in may. The boys outraged mother shared this video with us. In response to the attacks police they have increased patrols. And muni says despite these high profile cases crime is actually going down. pam bart police are cracking down on cellphone thefts. The department has launched a Public Awareness campaign. To help prevent these thefts. In the most recent incident, a juvenile was arrested after grabbing a victims phone and attempting to run away. A bart officer was able to locate and arrest the suspect in that incident. This arrest comes, as bart has seen a recent decrease in phone thefts following a sharp spike. At the beginning of the year. The deputy chief has some advice for people riding bart with electronics. There have there have been approximately 240 electornic device thefts on bart this year. Deputy chief haight says, bart is working to increase its visible presence to deter these crimes. pam a fremont man is facing multiple charges for alleged Sexual Assault of a developmentally challenged woman. grant the suspect in this case was also apparently caught in the act by alert neighbors who detained him until police arrived. Kron 4s Charles Clifford has details. The Fremont Police departments say that 77 year old cheuk li of fremont was arrested last week on multiple charges including Sexual Battery. Li was taken into custody following an incident on july 21st where a developmentally challenged adult female was reported missing near this mcdonalds on grimmer boulevard. When officers arrived on scene to investigate, they found several neighbors restraining li in the parking lot. Upon further investigation, they learned that li and the missing woman had been found in the back of lis Subaru Outback with the windows rolled up and the doors locked. Police also say that the adult female may have been a victim of Sexual Battery. Upon speaking with witnesses, obtaining a statement from li and reviewing Surveillance Video Police Arrested li and he is now facing charges of kidnapping, Sexual Battery and dependent adult abuse. Cheuk li does have a criminal background that includes a 2001 conviction for Sexual Battery. He is also registered as a sex offender but in 2013, li was arrested by Fremont Police for failing to comply with his sex offender registration requirements.
