her alleged kidnapper 19-year- old fernando castro. the search for rural spans from northern california down south. in santa barbara county shortly after an amber alert was issued on her behalf thursday, castro was killed in a gun battle with police in the city of solving. >> they're doing everything they can to bring her home. >> reporter: acting on tips investigators then shifted their focus on the sonoma county town of jenner. a day after the kidnapping the sheriff's office says castro's car had been spotted by surveillance cameras in nearby marin county. search and rescue crews then spent 2 days exploring bushes in nearby waterways. but saturday afternoon that search was suspended indefinitely. >> i believe she is somewhere close. i will not stop until she is found. >> reporter: right now it's unclear what brought investigators to jenner in the meantime her family says they will continue to search for her here in vallejo. >> you can track the timeline of pearls cliff. this happened on grizzly peak boulevard near fish ranch road. witnesses say the driver lost control of the ford escape that was traveling east on the line road. the car barreled through a wooden log and fell hundreds of feet into a ravine. the tow truck had use 450 feet of cable to reach the car. the 2 teenagers in the car were airlifted to the hospital. rescuers said the teenagers suffered cuts and bruises and broken bones but they are lucky to be alive. you are looking at the car they were in. it is not clear what happened right before the car went over the cliff. today a boater found the body of a missing 1-year-old girl in the sacramento river about 1/2 mile from where her dad thought -- her dad's body was found. >> the 2 had been boating and missing for about 1 week. certainly a tough one to 4 hours for family members and friends. >> we are talking about walnut grove. that is where the bodies were found about 30 miles northeast of antioch. the fodder and daughter -- father daughter disappeared on monday. >> i cannot breathe right because my baby. she's my baby. >> it has been blow after blow for this family. after a week of searching, the bodies of the 2 have been found. saturday evening the fathers body was found in the river. and the baby was found. >> there's a lot that could been done. >> jackson family says the father and daughter left from antioch last monday and disappeared. it was likely they took highway 160 which runs along the sacramento river. >> if we had information earlier there was a car that ran in the river we would've started immediately. >> there ford torres is still missing. the family held out hope after the father's body was recovered. that the daughter could be alive. >> today near the river they got the news she was dead. no one could say why. >> i hope no one else experiences coffee a diehard has. >> spokesman for the sheriff's department speculated the father fell asleep at the wheel or crashed for some other reason. until they can find the car they cannot say what actually happened. back to you. a 3rd person is still nowhere to be found tonight. wanted in connection with a high school student. now with what police are saying about the search for that suspect. >> a candlelight vigil that was planned for today was canceled of security concerns. the family was just not ready we are told. this after a student died in a shooting last week. the marin county sheriff's office identified the student as edward ramirez and another teen was also hurt and needed surgery. the attack happened around 5:30 at the trail at the end of fairway drive. 2 of the 3 shooting suspects, all of them high school students from the volatile have been taken into custody. on thursday one suspect, a 17- year-old male was taken into custody after a raid. a 2nd suspect, a 16-year-old was taken into custody on leaf would drive. investigators say they are close to locating the 3rd person connected to the case. counseling will be available to the students and staff on tuesday when classes resume. a traveling war memorial honoring following -- fallen troops will be on display in hayward. this is video from recovery mission. >> now with more details. >> memorial day weekend is basically the start of boating season. the sheriff's department says it has been packed with families in this afternoon the department shared these photos of the search you can see the dive team using sonar to look for the 15-year-old boys who disappeared in the water. the teenagers were from oakland. a group of about 5 or 6 people jumped into the water with the boys when they all got back in the boat the teens were nowhere to be found. the father of one of the boys was simply without words. >> they play football and basketball, he is an athlete. i don't understand. >> the 15-year-old boys were cousins. one of the dad said his son is a straight a student. the family was camping for the weekend. basically just heartbreaking news for the family. they stay there over the weekend of a search went on. the sheriff's department is saying they recommend wearing life jackets. >> thank you. we are now less than 24 rally in front of oakland city hall at 4 pm. the pastor of a well-known church in the east bay is celebrating a milestone birthday. over the last 4 decades he brought the church 77 members to several and fighting inside the bay. tomorrow a beautiful memorial day. mostly sunny skies with warmer temperatures all around. but keeping a fairly cool toward the coastline. for the week ahead it will be hot in the valley. 35 cooler with the seabreeze toward the beaches. temperatures now 83 in antioch. 61 in san mateo. a cool 50s out toward the coastline with fog moving onshore. the seabreeze is strengthening this evening. and then it will start to calm down. we have the storms over the sierra nevada. those will start to go away and a ridge of high pressure building in and the temperature will heat up. 80s and 90s in parts of the south bay by tomorrow afternoon. as you head to the east bay temperatures up to the 70s and 80s. tomorrow afternoon you're looking at a lot of 90s. possibly as high as 96 in antioch. as you head along the coastline, it's much cooler. 60 toward the beaches. north bay will enjoy lots of sunshine. hot one. 80 and even low 90s. the next couple of days we'll crank up the temperatures. cooling slightly on wednesday and thursday. possible triple digits on friday. the cool along the coast. back to you. a mexican soccer star has been kidnapped. we will mexico and border state. police say he was kidnapped after he had left a party. witnesses say 6 masked men took the soccer star. federal and state police have mounted an operation to track him down. still ahead, who is coming to the defense of actor johnny depp after his wife accused him of hitting her. 2 police officers were shot and one man is dead. what happened at an auto body shop in texas. accusations of abuse inside and antioch special education school. the school has been under scrutiny ever since this video surfaced. >> tonight and in-depth report reveals the schools are being paid millions of dollars from publicly funded school districts. >> reporter: the a buttes -- abuse happened in antioch. a boy being slapped and manhandle. by a teacher's aide. tobin world documents turned over to kron4 from the state department of education show that during the 2014/2015 school year students were being bused in from all over the east bay. in addition to the antioch unified school district they were coming from all over. usually because the home districts don't have enough trained personnel to provide a monitoring that severely emotionally or intellectually disabled students require. according to the school, the nonprofit writing nearly $15 million in revenue. the executive director seen here at a photo is their highest- paid employee. making $350,000 per year. a farmer -- a far cry from what the former ones me. >> $9 per hour. >> the former aides say they only needed a high school diploma. one said before she left she saw disturbing trend among newer incoming employees. >> employees that were one, 2, or 3 years older than the students they were in charge of. we asked -- >> reporter: she released a written statement saying tobin world staff are acquired to complete specialized education training before they are allowed in our classroom. in addition staff members are retrained periodically. our public's record request turned up dozens of agreements. the basic asked -- cost for education was just over $28,000. the price tag could be much higher. that is because some kids need more specialized care than others. like counseling or physical therapy. add to the cost of busing them in from far-off locations. according to the contracts some districts agreed to pay tobinworld 60, 70 and in one case $90,000. just like public school if the student does not show up the school does not get paid. former employees say when they worked their the administration would pay students to come to school. >> when i was there, $10 that each student would get at the end of the month if they were there the whole month. >> they will do everything in their power to make sure kids are there because the more kids that are there more money they get. it's lining their pockets more than concerned about the children. >> reporter: we sorted through the data turned over by the state we found the majority of students are from the antioch unified school district. tobinworld 2 relocated antioch 10 years later. tobinworld 3 opened in 2014. 3 more branches of tobinworld opened on antioch elementary campuses. all 3 in the summer of 2015. the livermore unified school district is not paying tobinworld as much as it used to. in 2013 a program specialist with the district filed this suspected child abuse report. a 13-year-old girl sold herself while being restrained. that caused the district to send in their own staff. based on the observations of the staff and feedback district suggested that parents looking to alternative basement for their kids. the livermore unified school district still has students attending tobinworld if the parents chose to keep the children there. the district has stopped placing new students there. they don't believe the actions that instigated the report was an isolated incident. >> tonight at 10 pm she continues her investigation and talks with an advocacy group for the disabled that says the abuse you saw and the viral video the triggered investigations is a problem that goes well beyond tobinworld. tonight on kron4 news at 10 pm. this just in. we're learning a woman was killed in a crash with another car this afternoon. this happened near levi stadium in santa clara. one of the cars is blocking a vta train but a bus bridge has been set up. police are telling us that the car will have to stay on the track until the investigation wraps up. in national news 2 people are dead, 8 injured in a shooting rampage in houston texas. it began this morning when a gunman and into an auto detail shop and started shooting. a well-known customer of the shop was killed, the gunman later killed by a swat officer. one police car was shot 21 times. a police helicopter was hit 5 times. the other victim killed was found dead in the car with a gunshot wound to the head. for others are in the hospital. no word on what is behind the rampage. johnny depp's daughter is defending him this evening. his wife raised allegations of domestic abuse. 17-year-old lily took the social media to write about her famous father. she didn't directly reference the allegations but calls her dad "the sweetest loving person i know". and says he has been the best parent ever. depp's wife is divorcing the star. a judge granted a temporary straining order. the 30-year-old actress reportedly submitted a photo of herself with what appears to be a bruise on her right eye. still ahead, terror in the water. a shark attack on the coast. money is bringing the rain and wind to south carolina. where the storm is moving next. tropical storm bonnie has stalled. rescue groups are using boats to pull out stranded people. this used to be tropical storm bonnie and it has dumped 6 inches of rain that it has shut down and interstate. the hurricane center is saying bonnie is going to move up the coast and more flooding is possible along with rip currents. now we see the video, we are very lucky. >> think of all the people who made plans there. >> the beach. >> we have sunshine here. in that part of the country they are dealing with bonnie. they will continue to do so. it looks like it has thinned out but it has pumped in all that tropical moisture. by tomorrow afternoon you get a little heat in the atmosphere and before you know it they are talking about more heavy rainfall. the storm system is slowly pandering in and making its way all the way up the carolina and toward the atlantic. lots of heavy rain and the potential for more flooding. we are enjoying this. here you see some patchy fog below. a beautiful sunset tonight. we are hoping for more of those in the coming days. i think it will be hot in spots. out the door we are cooling things down especially near the coastline. 61 in san francisco. 73 in concorde. 63 in santa rosa. still a few thunderstorms popping up over the sierra nevada. that will come down in the next couple of days. the big dome of high pressure will build in overhead. that will heat up the temperatures. tomorrow morning we start out with 50 and 60s early on. quickly the colors turn yellow and orange is. eventually we get to the red by the afternoon. most temperatures in the 90s. it will be hot in spots tomorrow afternoon. especially away from the coastline. a couple low 90s. as you make your way inside the bay it will be sunny and 71 in oakland. 85 in fremont. into the east bay as high as 90. 92 in livermore. along the coastline still some patchy fog early on. 60s in a little sunshine in the afternoon. much cooler weather there. and the north bay 80s and 90s, mostly sunny skies in the next few days. you'll see these temperatures warm-up through tuesday. cooldown on wednesday. then into friday a chance of triple digit heat. nearly half the southern california beach was evacuated and one person is in a critical condition. from what appears to be a shark attack. around 4 pm rescue officials in newport beach picked up and injured woman whose wounds were consistent with signs of a shark attack. authorities are waiting for official confirmation that it was in fact the bite of a shark. beachgoers were moved out of the water and no one else was harmed. coming up, a yearbook photo that has upset he southern california student. why she was given plastic guns to hold in a photo. an incredible commute to school with children climbing cliffs. and new video of the young boy who fell into a gorilla exhibit at the cincinnati zoo. mommy's right here. >> that is a mother screaming in the frantic moments after her 4-year-old boy slipped into a real enclosure. the gorilla named harambe was shot and killed one day after turning 17 years old. and the boy was released from the hospital last night. >> tonight there is new video. and the growing outrage over the death of the gorilla. part of the scene captured on camera. >> reporter: a day of panic and desperation at the cincinnati zoo. a 4-year-old boy slips into the zoo's gorilla habitat. and over -- and over a moat wall. and suddenly turned 25 a 400 pound gorilla approaches the boy. his mother watches in horror at what happens next. >> mommy's right here. >> reporter: the young boy screams, the urgent calls to 911 can be heard on this bystander video. the family tried desperately to keep him calm as takes them out of sight. he drags the boy around a moat and up a letter. as the zoo's dangerous animal response team anxiously decides what to do next. >> the little boy had been talking about wanting to go in and get in the water. his mother said no you're not. i don't know if the screaming did it or to meet people hanging on the edge, if he thought we were coming in, but then he pulled the boy further from the group. >> 32. the gorilla has the child. and is dragging him around the pen. >> reporter: officials considered the incident so threatening, decidingmust be taken down immediately. >> the reason that tranquilizing was not chosen is because in an agitated situation which was, it may take quite a while for a tranquilizer to take effect. but certainly the instance he would be hit he would have a dramatic the fonts. -- response. all sorts of things could happen. he certainly was at risk. >> reporter: they say their only option was a rifle. >> get the kid out of here. >> reporter: harambe was shot and killed. the child was taken to the hospital with non-life- threatening injuries. >> it is a sad day all the way around. the right choice was made. it was a difficult choice. >> reporter: he was a critically endangered species gorilla. the zoo had hoped he would eventually father other gorillas. >> we love the zoo. it is friendly and beautiful. but when you see something like that, you have disappointment because what do you say to your grandchildren? >> the incident is sparking outrage. some suggesting the boy's parents should face criminal charges. an online petition has more than 50,000 signatures in less than 24 hours. >> that is terrible. >> you see the gorilla, really spectacular looking at all. but when you see him and drag around a little boy you think they had to have done something at that point. you don't see the boy at that point. you don't know what is going to happen. >> it is hard to watch as a parent. to think if that was your child and what the right decision would be. i would think they are experts. >> a lot of people brought up the use of a tranquilizer gun. the talk out there is that that might have scared him. that might have been more dragging. it might have kicked in right away. ute of had to wait and who knows what happens. >> we talked about this last week but the man who jumped into the lion enclosure, that is the same reason they did not use tranquilizers darts. it takes too long. >> in that case he was mauled. a tough story. >> a lot of the tension -- a lot of attention on facebook. a student was voted 8 teachers worst nightmare. little did she know the real nightmare was going to happen on social media. after the yearbook photo was posted. beth gonzalez showed up to take the picture for that yearbook on her that she was given and she was given some prompts by a teacher. the student was given plastic bombs, knives and guns. and since the teacher was the one in charge, they did not question or think anything about it until the picture was put online. and brought home for parents to see. >> great. this is just great. this depicts a minority culture, you have a young black man with a gun, and a young hispanic girl with a knife. and what exactly what i saw was racial profiling. >> comments online were extremely negative saying the students were racist and said things about isis. the family did reach out to the school but they say they did not get a response. they are now worried for their daughter's safety and her future. her parents saying they will not at this get swept under the rug. we are now less than 24 hours away from the big game. >>
