Shellys disappearance jumped off the bay bridge himself killing himself. Late yesterday, about four hours before his death, we visited paul at his home to discuss efforts to find his wife. Meanwhile, the identity of the torso found sunday night in fremont near the bridge has not been confirmed by the coroner, but it could be shelly. Reporter well, the neighbors that i talked to say they were shocked to hear the news about pauls suicide. They were equally shocked to see that the family home was a crime scene. Lets check video and you can see officers from the Fremont Police department as well as the brisbane Police Department have been conducting an investigation all day long. I caught up with the next door neighbor, dee dee. She says that paul and shelly have been going through some rough times in their marriage. Yeah. I think they didnt have a great relationship, but a lot of people dont have great relationships. Its just concerning in a small town and weve always really taken a lot of pride in it being safe. Tonight, we have confirmed that paul killed himself by jumping off of the bay bridge. We have more of the interview that you have not yet seen. Reporter there were two things that struck me as odd about our interview. One, he did not cry and he also was not wearing his wedding ring. Paul agreed to meet me at his home to talk about his missing wife. He e mailed me several photos of her and their family before. Shelly was last seen on saturday, the 13th. He reported her missing on monday, the 15th. We did the interview in their backyard because he was hoping that shelly would see the interview and that seeing her yard would trigger her memories to come home. He told me he thought that she had suffered a stroke and that she was lost. As we reported last night, paul told me and he his wife of 20 plus years had gotten into a disagreement that saturday night and that she left upset saying that she was going to go stay with a friend. No friends ever admitted that shelly was with them and paul then became concerned he told me when she she was very social and friendly and had not contacted anyone including their two sons or her own parents. Here now paul answering my questions about his missing wife and what could have happened to her. How are you able to be so strong right now and keep it together . Well, you didnt see me the first couple days. I had a new experience that maybe parents have alt one point. He was explaining the experience of my sons of having to survive your parent passing away. I had a experience that i never had before of having one of my sons start taking care of me because i was trying to get organized. That was tuesday morning. He immediately came from north beach and came to help me. He recognized that i wasnt in good enough shape to do what we needed to do. Reporter what happens if she doesnt come home . Well, you know, thats going to be very difficult. Im trying to arm my sons for that. Thats a very difficult thing. Ive gone through that experience with them and shared with them how that feels and what to do to deal with it. Theres still hope, but i think theyll they wont have to have that experience, but ive tried to explain to them its part of life that everyone has to face that. Reporter can you think of anyone who would want to hurt her . No. Weve gone through her entire friend list and going back pretty deeply in the past. Its hard to see anyone in there that would have any cause to harm her. Paul was not named a suspect, but was a person of interest in the case and when we did the interview yesterday, we did not have the information about the torso that was found in fremont. Did i reach out to family members today. One of the sons told me theyre asking for privacy as the other family members said they are upset. Detectives temporarily halted their search for remains in fremont, but the investigators did find additional evidence under the under the bridge last night. Kron asked the Fremont Police department, she brings us up to speed on that part of the investigation. Reporter detectives have left the area under the bridge and are following up on leads. They did find additional evidence in that area yesterday evening, but police arent saying exactly what that is. They were searching the area both yesterday and today. Reporter crime scene investigators are processing the evidence. Shelly went missing a week and a half ago and a dismembered torso popped up in a marshland area under the bridge. Fishermen spotted it on sunday. To think someone just does that, thats a big shock. Reporter detectives have been searching for the head, arms, and legs. Thats horrific. Family members confirmed that was her boyfriend. Stacys body was recovered last weekend in a rural area of fremont. It had multiple gunshot wounds.
