They said that he had been wielding a knife and called 911 from his home and the 600 block of force avenue about 9 15 pm on friday. Police say that he apparently had been waiting for them and charged at officers with a knife outside the home. Two officers fired, and he later died at the hospital. The officers were not injured. Reporter according to pg e come early sunday morning there was a problematic as facility that concerns the Discovery Bay area. 6200 customers like Emanuel Garcia lost gas service at their home. He says he noticed the problem while making breakfast for his family. No gas and no fire. Reporter by midafternoon, the house and water heater had gone cold. He called pg e but they were unable to say when service will be restored and the red cross set up two Warming Centers for customers who needed to get out of the cold but he chose to take his family out of town. We went to fremont. Reporter pg e has not said what went wrong at the gas facility but they have been able to start restoring service. Crews need to go door to door to fix the problem and it is not a matter of flipping a switch. This is a doortodoor thing and requires that the residents be home in order to do the work. We need access to the home. Reporter as of monday monday evening, pg e restored gas service to 3000 customers. They could not however say when service would be restored to all of the homes. We just hope to get this done quickly and it certainly will be done safely. Reporter Discovery Bay, Charles Clifford, kron 4 news. We got word moments ago from pg e that they have in fact managed to restore power to all of the homes which have been affected. New at 8 00 pm, a train crashed into a hillside in santa cruz county, happened on roaring camp railroads this afternoon. The train throttle got stuck during a point in the trip near bear mountain. The train switched over to head back in reverse. Three passengers were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
