right by turk street park. police say just before 9.30, last night, 2 people were shot. one is expected to survive. the other suffered life-threatening injuries. witnesses reported seeing a sedan leave the scene. but suspect has not been identified. a shooting earlier this morning happened in west oakland and injured one person. it happened as officers were investigating another shooting from minutes earlier. >> officers responded to the first scene just after midnight on union street, a block away from the west grand avenue while officers were investigating that shooting, a second shooting was detected on union street 2 blocks away. oakland police responded to that scene and found a victim who had been injured and they were taken to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition to the south bay. now, a police swat unit to use to raid in alleged underground gambling casino in a residential neighborhood. but a person who lives in the home denies the accusation. our as 5 will now be able to receive a booster shot for the omicron variant of covid-19 starting this week on monday, santa clara county received its first doses of the new bivalent booster shot, the boosters available for children 6 and up. health officials say that across santa clara county, only 11% of the people eligible for the new boosters have actually gotten the shots with a number of death of an innocent bystander. oakland police held a press conference this afternoon to talk about the death. this is citizen video from the scene this morning. police chief leronne armstrong says the suspect. 23 year-old jonathan hernandez was wanted for felony threats and hit and run sammy from an incident last friday. officers located her and hernandez around 7 o'clock this morning. and then he immediately fled, prompting a police pursuit that pursuit ended on san leandro boulevard near the coliseum bart station when hernandez crashed into a pickup truck. >> fortunately, the driver of that pickup. 43 or 44 year-old resident oakland died on the scene. his name is not being released pending notification to next of kin. >> officers arrested hernandez at the scene. armstrong says that the department plans on filing vehicular manslaughter and homicide charges against him. now to the north bay, where some sonoma county deputy is on paid administrative leave right now after a gunfight with the suspect during a suspected break-in. >> deputies got a call that a man was trying to damage cars in the shopping center parking lot right near downtown sonoma. it was on west nap and second streets. that's right near the historic snow. the square plaza when they arrived. police say that the suspect started shooting at them and santa rosa police now explain. deputies then told the man to drop the gun. >> the suspect refused and shot at least one time at the deputy did not hit the we believe the deputy hit him at least one time. the suspect then fled further into that parking lot, popped out with the gun. still in his hand, approaching deputies and a second deputy shot him. >> the suspect is from the sonoma valley and police say they're going to release more information about the shooting, including the suspect and the deputies names later on this week. well, there's been a development in the kristin smart murder trial. a jury has reached a verdict against ruben flores. >> the father of the man accused of killing smart following a college party back in 1996. ruben flores is accused of helping his son cover up the alleged crime. the verdict will not be ready until a separate jury deliberating the fate of his son, paul floors reaches its decision. it is not known when that might the panel is continuing its deliberations. the jury for ruben flores had to restart discussions just this past friday after juror was replaced. >> kron 4 is your local election headquarters and with ballots now out, messaging is wrapping up in key races and ballot measures. that includes proposition 30. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace spoke with the measure's supporters and opponents and shares what the measure would do if passed. >> well, i finally got my ballot and you can see prop 30 right here. supporters say will provide funding to reduce air pollution and prevent wildfires. while opponents argue it's all part of a scheme from a major rideshare corporation. bad air quality. it's a problem that impacts much of california. but supporters behind the ballot measure known as prop 30 safe. the proposition passes. it will help bring pollution down. proposition 30 is by far a vote for clean air will barrel with the american lung association is fully behind the measure. if passed by voters, prop 30 would create a 1.7 5% tax increase on californians who earn more than 2 million dollars per year. >> supporters say the revenue generated from the tax would go toward subsidies for 0 emission vehicles, infrastructure for more charging stations and resources to it. executive director of the bay area council economic institute. jeff belisario predicts the facility closure is likely a way to prepare for what's to come in 2023, i think companies now are thinking recession. hello, fresh isn't alone. other companies like gap, oracle and docu sign have also announced layoffs in recent months. belisario says the good thing is that most employees are able to find other job opportunities relatively quickly. some companies action are viewing this as an opportunity as some of those larger pare back. >> smaller companies going to jump on that talent as it becomes available. some of the biggest companies are making changes even in tech sales for sending contracts with nearly 100 temporary recruiters during a limited hiring period. we're seeing some slowdowns. we're seeing some hiring freezes. we are seeing some cutbacks. president of tech knowledge. research bob o'donnell says even with the changes, most tech companies have upskilling programs
