Plan for tomorrow because the big story for us to those gusty wind conditions. Let me show you everything you need to know. So what you need to know right now is temperatures really arent that bad. Thats the good news. Were in the 60s for most part, dropping down slowly as we plan your day. But really its going to be tomorrow that were concerned about. So as we take a look at our live Camera Network in Half Moon Bay, have a check in with my friends on the coast. I didnt think temperatures were that chilly, but theyre saying it is kind of chilly today. Guests to each is own for a little bit. What i am watching on the coast in Half Moon Bay would be saturday for those breezy conditions. We can see those wind gusts up to 35 Miles Per Hour. So thats something were watching and really stormtracker 4 showing you that low pressure system and that High Pressure system coming together, bringing us those breezy conditions on friday. So what were really going to see is really a little bit warmer. But take a look at the north. You can see those wind gusts up to 16 Miles Per Hour as we fast forward. Maybe even 25 Miles Per Hour. The temperatures for tomorrow, like i said, can be just a tick warmer than today. You can see that 62 for San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, 60 even inland 68. So a tick above average for us. You can see our 7 day forecast again showing you friday. 67 bay, 66 coast, 58. But again, its going to be your breezy conditions go just a little bit warmer. But really you can see those wind, gusty conditions. So thats something continue to update you especially those driving conditions. The big question want to know going to be foggy on your way into work tomorrow . I have that answer. Coming up next. San francisco, Small Businesses that fell behind on their licensing fees during the pandemic can now apply for a payment plan. That will allow them to stay open with a valid license. And audit found more than 1000 businesses fell behind during the pandemic. The businesses. A combined 2. 6 million dollars. 2 sfdph and theyll more to the city. The businesses were previously required to pay their outstanding fee balance in full to keep their operating permits. Valid businesses must enter into payment a plane plan by april 30th of next year to continue operating with both valid permit. It. All right. Well, good to now. And looks like we might be on standby. We did mention that. Were going to have that interview with david mcewan. And it sounds like is he there is david with us. While were waiting on that political analyst and we are trying to House Speaker nancy pelosi is stepping her decision to a step down as a Democrat Party leader as House Speaker. So joining us now, as we mentioned, is the chair of the Political Science department at Sonoma State University professor david mcewan. Hi, good evening. Thanks for joining us. Thank you from so really big moment here. Of course. What could this mean now for the Democratic Party . Look, if you think about what happened last week and how well democrats did, we didnt get wet red way that all weve got a red truck and you think about where democrats are headed. A lot of that success is predicated on the gen the younger folks, right . We have the first member elected from that generation last week is 25 years old. And theres a real turning of the page, if you will. If you look at nancy pelosi, you look at steny hoyer and jim clyburn, the top 3 members for democrats for the last 16 years. Their average age is 83 and the folks that are coming in right hskeem jeffries, presumably to other members, massachusetts, california, putting californias pete aguilar, the average 51 and part of this is a reflection that theres a new type of voter. Theres a new type of member and congress is changing and then kind of pan back from this just a little bit. Speakr someone who believes that everyone is replaceable first. And secondarily, once you move past that this is a huge moment since the First Time Since 1955. That weve seen this type of transition for speaker. The modern congress had never seen this. So were entering into a place where you have donald trump in the background possibly running for president. You republicans with a slight lead. The bare majority to maintain the majority. And you have this triumvirate thats led democrats of all this experience while trying to bring forth this new group. This really is an interesting moment for both parties and certainly with a reflection of Speaker Pelosi and her ability to lead democrat says she has done twice a speaker now of the of the house. You mentioned a modern congress. David Governor Newsom today said there might not be anyone more effective and consequential in modern history. And you would expect that from a democrat like newsom. But Newt Gingrich said basically the same thing recently. What will pelosi is legacy be . Jagr and i think thats a good point. Look at in 1974, theres a new type of member thats elected to congress after the watergate scandal. A more a more urban, more photogenic, a kind of modernize, the current connor, the congress as an institution. 1994. Obviously gingrich does with with his contract with america and you have kind of this fast forward of of how you think about american politics. How much change the last 20 or 30 years in kind of that modern era, how its trying to keep up. And nancy pelosi legacy has been there as someone who has been 4th and move forward on all of the key pieces of legislation tart, what happened in the crash in 2007, 2008, 2009. You know, you think about whats happened in terms of of covid relief and key legislation, obama and after than republicans take in 2010 and all these moments where she has been part of huge pieces of legislation that have modernized the Democratic Party and what they try to do government and have place at shes also someone who has also that many people realize this worked across the aisle, particular when she was part of the intelligence community, a committee and working on and very interested and what was happening with china and particularly with china was doing in the world and where it was going relative to u. S. Interests and with taiwan. So she someone who has really been at the forefront of a lot of these key changes so are legacy, regardless of what do you think of her politics or legacy is huge and it borders on that or is right against that of giants that we see that have buildings named after is congress, you know, joe cannon, for example, a huge speakers in history who were real arm twisters and and backroom kind of dealers. And shes been someone who has been up front and push forward and has a really strong legacy, perhaps the strongest legacy of a modern speaker that weve seen in some time. So 2 decades of experience, a tough political negotiator. She is said to have been, im very are now looking at. He came jeffries from new york who has been a caucus chair for the last 4 years. But given all that experience, how tough is it going to really be to fill those heels . Oh, yeah. I mean, look at your. Youre talking about big shoes there to that. The bill. I mean, look, thats why you keep a Speaker Pelosi, nancy pelosi around. She cannot navigate that. She has Strategic Value for democrats, institutional a variety of ways in which to go after republicans. A lot republicans have the barest majority going and Kevin Mccarthy is going to have to hurt a lot of cats. He doesnt have one Freedom Caucus. Hes got 4 different Freedom Caucus is to deal with with that bare majority and you can call speaker vote any time from the floor of the house. So given these rules and someone who a wealth of experience and can help these democrats in waiting, if you will, these leaders in waiting like Hakeem Jeffries like pete aguilar to help them kind of navigate this new normal that were at while we enter into the politics of 2024, you cant beat that kind of experience. You know, this is this is the veteran ball player whos able to be there and speak and and everyone stops and listens and that sage wisdom is going to be just a an really absent democrats as they navigate what is likely to be another 3, 4, 5, 6 months here. Thats going to be really on even in congress. And before we let you go, i know theres so many Different Things happening at the same time in this particular time for her stepping down. You know, she did mention that theres a new generation that needs to step up and now lead. But she also hinted in an interview with Anderson Cooper that she might have had her decision impacted because of what happened to her husband that was targeted and attacked here in their San Francisco home. So now that thats been out there and the timing of this all could this and all sent a perilous president on violence against our politicians . Yeah, i there something to be said there. Look, shes going out on top and obviously our our politics are just and theyve gone bonkers and the attack on her husband, paul pelosi is tragic demeaning and just a house or if it does that is she also understands everyone being replaceable. You have to place politics and some perspective and timing is everything in politics. Like 90 of what goes on and the timing couldnt be better for her. Even though they lose the house, she with that wind at our back, if you will, because she can help democrats in the institution navigate forward. That will be hugely important, especially as democrats decide what the next 2 years look like or the next year or so as they move to 2024. So if youre going out on top in, clearly the attack had some Important Role determining which way she was going to go and win. Appreciate your time. David mcewan, were out of time. They say the company is abusing its market position and harming consumers. Democrats believe that there should be more options and better prices for concert tickets. Kron fours capitol correspondent basil john reports now and why some lawmakers say its time to end this monopoly. Im sure theres a lot of people who really want to buy tickets. They could buy tickets from social media to the halls of congress. The struggle for taylor swift fans to get tickets is creating bad blood for ticketmaster. Texas republican senator ted cruz agrees monopolies. Our problem. But those democrats need to focus on the ones really hurting americans like in big tech. Our weather time here thursday night, people are starting to think about the weekend as we take a look outside our studios across the street there at San Franciscos exploratorium. And were hearing its going to be a windy day tomorrow. We have our meteorologist Brittany Begley out here to let us know some more. Yeah. That was a beautiful shot. The big thing for us right now is hopefully going to be too foggy. Thats what were showing as we take a look at tonight. What were really watching is partly cloudy skies and those temperatures. Yeah, were going to stay in the bout the 60s tomorrow. Its going to be breezy. Thats going to the top story for us as we take a look at everything you need to know. Yes, its going to be breezy at lowes. Were looking at in the 30s to 40s. So the top story really, though its going to be this tomorrow sees that low pressure system. You see that High Pressure system when they come together. Thats when you get those breezy conditions. So were going to have warmer temperatures because of that. But really, its going to be this. Take a look at your screen. So to the north as we look at friday, a 45, maybe even into your way into work you can see in the teens, but some places could get up to 35 Miles Per Hour. You can see right there in the north. Were looking at 24 Miles Per Hour and just perspective. Thats when you start to see those large tree branches sway here whistling. So thats something watch for the next couple of days now to sacramento and tahoe. Were going to see wind gusts up to 35 Miles Per Hour course. Well still be watching for fire weather as well on your way into work. I think to the north youre going to see its not going to be too bad for you to the south. Were going to see some foggy conditions, especially in places like hayward. Thats going to be around the 7 oclock hour all the way to the 9 oclock hour.
