after at least two police cars were vandalized, business windows shattered and gunshots were heard in the streets. and a number of large fires set. protesters overran a barricade and taunted police. throwing rocks and bottles at them. and unrest in ferguson missouri. protests broke out with brown's supporters demanding justice. crowds gathered outside a liquor store.in ferguson. and looters were seen carrying items out of the store. 20-minutes south of ferguson c-n-n's chris welch has the latest from ferguson. violence broke out-- reports of fires, tear gas and vandalism in ferguson. they determined that no probable cause existed file any charges against officer wilson officers responded by firing what authorities said was smoke and pepper spray into the crowd. st. louis county police later confirmed tear gas also was used. hurting others or destroying property is not the answer the streets in ferguson, missouri are tense tonight. as emotions run high in the wake of the grand jury announcement. st. louis county police say officers have used tear gas to disperse crowds near the ferguson police department. this is video from earlier this evening of the crowds running moments after smoke bombs were fired. police used a bullhorn to tell the crowd to disperse, saying it had become an unlawful assembly some protesters smashed the windows of a police car and threw rocks and other items at authorities. police cars were vandalized and several gunshots were heard monday night as crowds erupted in anger after the announcement that officer darren wilson will not be indicted in the shooting death of 18-year-old michael brown. there have been acts of vandalism. in this aerial video. you can see a police car on fire. at least two police cars have been set ablaze. protestors are scattered throughout town. confronting a heavy police presence. also -- smoke and fire was seen billowing from a building. there are reports -- some in the crowd reportedly tried to stop others from taking part in vandalism and other violence. some pulled firefighters were fought off from the fires by four protesters brandishing arms back here in the bay area -- oakland police say hundreds of protestors ran up the freeway onramp near trader joes. near lakeshore avenue. chp is diverting traffic, and there have been reports of fireworks in the area. authorities say there have been two reports of vandalism. one police car was spray-painted with graffiti at 7th street/jackson, and a chase bank window at 20th street and webster was broken. police have made multiple arrests. officers in oakland were being pelted by rocks and bottles while attempting to keep protesters off the freeway. oakland police tweeted out a picture of some of the rocks thrown at law enforcenet. tensions are high. the protestors out on the street in the bay area tonight are not the only ones reacting to the. ferguson decision. we also heard from bay area civic leaders and activists . familiar with these described the process and it certainly sounded to me that it was thorough the attorneys on both sides seem to agree on the legal particulars of the case but some time writing wrong there brooded in ferguson where we can see all of these cars on fire there also a number of building fires going on so many that the fire crews have not been able to keep up in fact some of them have been fired at we have not heard of any injuries at this point in fergus and no war at home in the bay area but nonetheless a very dangerous area in both locations a 5- year old pacifica girl has drowned. the disturbing part. is that the incident happened at home, in her bathtub. her 3 children moved in to this house just last week. within days of them settling in, tragedy struck. witnesses say the child was in the bathtub saturday morning, and at some point a family member walked in and found her submerged and unresponsive. julian millare /sot - it's crazy that all of a sudden they lose their daughter like that a passerby performed cpr until emergency services showed up. the 5 year old was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. police say circumstances leading to
