District says this alleged assault is quite possibly the brutal end result of a feud between the suspect and the victims family. The Oakland Unified School district says a woman lured the 9yearold girl away from the playground at around 10 40 a. M. And took her into a restroom at lafayette elementary school. Once in the bathroom the adult proceeded to assault the student with a hammer. This was discovered by a teacher and a School Security officer. Reporter district spokesperson troy flint says the Security Guard detained the woman who also has a child at the school until Police Arrived placing her under arrest. Police are trying to charge her with assault with a Deadly Weapon other than a firearm and mayhem. The official charges will be determined when it goes to the d. A. Monday. Reporter flynn says the woman is well known on campus because she frequently volunteers at the school. However, in this case flint says she snuck onto campus with the hammer and viciously attacked the young girl who was rushed to the hospital. She was able to walk. She was conscious and communicating when she was transported to the hospital. She did sustain serious injuries, but shes an incredibly resilient little girl and she is expected to recover with medical attention, that the only small, small Silver Lining to a really heinous incident. Reporter flint adds that additional counselors will be made available for any students or teachers struggling with the incident. The school has sent a letter out to all parents letting them know about what happened. On monday the School District says two extra Security Guards will help monitor the campus. A man is accused of attacking a special needs 5th grader on a school bus in richmond. This happened early thursday morning. Police say 44yearold burnice heard talked his way onto that bus, walked past driver and hurt 5th grader calvin davis. The 11yearold guardian said he suffered a gash on his face, a cut on his ear. It appears the man was retaliating against a child for allegedly bullying his younger 2nd grade son. He said he grabbed me on the bus and when i saw that he did have a scratch on his face, i immediately called the guardian and the police. He told me he thought that the man was intoxicated. He also said that the guy choked him, hit him and threw him up against the window and it too, for someone else to grab him and it took for someone else to grab him off of him. The school said the bus driver did not immediately notify the principal and that might have cost him his job. No criminal charges filed in the deadly shooting last january of b. A. R. T. Officers went into the dublin apartment they knew the suspect was in jail, found the door unlocked and the sergeant told the others he heard noises coming from inside. For the District Attorneys final report it interviewed the officers involved that fatal day and determined they did the go over the layout of the apartment but they did shout police somewhere entering. They were only in about police before entering. They were only 10 seconds when one of the officers saw a shadowy figure with an upraised firearm. He is accused of handcuffing, punching and dumping that student out of his wheelchair in a hallway at oakland high earlier this month. The Security Guard has been fire. He faces a criminal assault charge. Reporter on friday afternoon the Oakland Unified School district said they are thoroughly removing this incident. So far only one Security Guard mitchell is accused of striking a student, but two other Security Guards were in the hallway at the time. The district is reviewing their actions, but again at this point only one guard, mitchell, is facing criminal charges. 23yearold former oakland high School Security guard Marcel Mitchell in the white shirt is facing a felony charge of inflicting corporal injury on a child after he struck wheelchairbound 17yearold francisco martinez. Mitchell was fired the same day and the School District has strongly condemned his actions. Were looking closely at everybody involved in this incident.
