(pam) kron 4's charles clifford is live tonight in san mateo county .. where residents and mountain lions cross paths all to often. charles. . . well, so far this week there have been at least 6 sighting of mountain lions across san mateo county. fortunetly, no people or pets have been injured. this is surveillance video shot on thursday evening in the backyard of a los altos home. the residents there say they heard growling outside their house around 10 pm. police and animal services responded to the neighborhood but by then the big cat had disappeared.that sighting was just one of several that have occurred over the past week. on monday, a mountain lion was spotted in san mateo just after midnight. lions were also seen in emerald hills on september 10th and 12th. another was spotted in portola valley on the 13th and the most recent sighting was again in emerald hills around 630 friday morning. in all cases the mountain lions left the area without any problems. mountain lion sighting along the peninsula are nothing new. sotyou really can't blame them.leeann tourtillott grew up here and she says its just a reminder that humans and mountain lions live side by side.soti just sort of accept that if we are going to co habitate there's going to be some impact in both directions. in light of these sightings, the california fish and wildlife is making several safety recommendationspeople to trim back brush around homes in order to remove mountain lions might hide, they advise never leaving small pets or children unattended, and they recommend installing motion detecting lights around homes. (steve) stone's father has addressed the school board and says the staff about the incident. the school said in a statement they support the right of each student. the family says they are most likely leaving the school district. (pam) coming up... a bay area city is labeled among the worst in the nation for distracted driving... we'll show you where and how parents are responding.(steve) plus... thousands of animals are without a home after hurricane irma. hear how the warriors are lending a helping hand.(pam) and... there were nearly a dozen robberies in a span of just 24 hours in san francisco. we'll hear from a victim of one of the robberies after the break. been trying to prepare for this day... and i'm still not ready. the reason i'm telling you this is that there will be moments in your life that... you'll never be ready for. your little girl getting married being one of them. ♪ ♪ within 12-hours nearly a dozen people have been robbed of their belongings in the city of san francisco.(pam) many of the items were wallets and cell phones. authoritties also say, some of the robberies were at gun point.(pam) one of the victims, martin bloom, had his cell phone stolen around three this morning. he says he went outside of his home... on gonzales drive to smoke a cigarette. bloom says, that is when three men aproached him, one looked like he was carrying a gun. (pam) police say the robberies occurred between thursday afternon and early friday morning. all cases were spread throughpout the city. police say it is not uncommon to see a rise in robberies, and they are actively investigating all cases. (( steve )) mourners gathered at a west sacramento elementary school to honor the three children killed in what police are calling a domestic violence incident. police arrested the children's own father who is accused of the killings. sonseeahray tonsall reports on how friends and family are remembering the chilren tonight. nat sound:they gathered where little kelvin and julie should have come to learn and laugh today.nat sound:the same place where their baby brother, lucas, may have followed in their footsteps.but instead, southport elementary was a place of shared grief and gifts of comfort thursday ... ... as the west sacramento community tries to come to grips with three young lives taken, investigators say, by their own father.cristina alvarez:"my daughter, she walked home with them every day, and she says 'mom, they're not gonna walk home with me anymore.' that hit hard."missing her walking buddies, little aaliyah had her classmates help make a card for them.aaliyah alvarez: "they wrote hearts in the front. and then i wrote a note to them to say 'good luck.' i wish them good luck in heaven." family members spoke out on behalf of the children's mother, too devastated to attend tonight..mai menzis: "you fall into despair, and to come out here even in darkness there is light. you are the light that shines on this family."police say 33-year-old robert hodges is the one who left loved ones in need of light.arrested him on interstate 80 at west el camino about two and a half hours after the first 9-1-1 call alerted (steve) (steve) that was sonseeahray tonsall reporting. robert hodges is being held without bail ahead of a monday court appearance. prosecutors say charges against him will likely be announced then. (pam) the school says it is aware of the study... in response, school administrators have added more crosswalk guards on both sides of the campus. (steve) the columbus ohio police chief says she is "sad and embarrassed" over remarks made at the scene of a violent arrest. police say an officer was heard making the remarks on body camera video taken at the scene where a man was arrested. ted hart has more on what was said during the arrest.. the arrest of timothy davis was a very physical takedown. nats of body cam: "get your hands behind your back. stop resisting."officers punched, kicked, and tased davis before they were able to get him handcuffed. that use of force is under review.but it's the body camera footage from officer joseph bogard...and bogard's comments about the arrest that are now the subject of an internal affairs investigation....nats of body cam: "what did we tase him for? why didn't we just choke the fáááing life out of him. i think they did for a while. good! they were really throwing punches. good!"bogard was one of a number of patrol officers who responded to the call of an officer in trouble. he's one of a number of officers watching as davis complains that he can't breathe...nats of body cam: "get up. i can't breathe. you can breathe, you're talking. i can't breathe sir."officer bogard's comments suggest he was openly enjoying the scene..."i'm a little aroused at this davis. just so you know.
