In the possible elder abuse investigation at a Castro ValleyResidential Care home. On saturday deputies says they were called in to help rescue 14 elderly patients. After most of the staff had left. Thats after the facility had its license temporarily revoked by the state. There are now allegations that the family running the facility also left another group of seniors at an oakland home called eden manor. That was earlier this year. Eden manor is now under new management. But an employee says before the transition. She and six other staffers were left to care for patients for about 16 hours a day. The state is trying to bar the owners of valley manor from operating or working in a california Residential Care facility again. Their lawyer is disputing the claims that residents were not properly cared for. Keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill in california is proving more difficult than it should be. A recent audit found that a large number of courts across the state arent reporting the mentally ill to state justice officials.
