family of an unarmed barber who was shot to death by oakland police is now suing the city. it is a $10 million civil lawsuit filed by the family of 37 year-old derek jones. they claim the officers used excessive force when they opened fire on jones back in november. the officers said that jones reached for what they believed was a gun but was determined to be a small silver >> craig skalar is reporting with more on the violence in east palo alto. >> police are investigating three homicides, that is 5 for the year more than the four that occurred in all of last year. police say hugo chavez died after receiving gunshot wounds to his chest and torso. this was 24 hours after another shooting where jabari branford was shot several times. he died at the scene. in each case police are not saying it was gang-related. how another woman was shot while sitting in a car talking to someone. in 1992 there were 42 murders alone in palo alto and it was referred to as the murder capital. in east palo also, craig skalar, kron 4 news. >> we have more news about the three people swept over a waterfall in the yosemite national park. here are their foes. -- photos. yosemite officials say that all three are presumed dead horse after they slipped over a waterfall on tuesday. they climbed over a metal barricade to take pictures when the woman slipped and lost her footing and her to friends tried to save her. they were all swept over 300 ft. crashing down below. a vigil was held for them last night at the church where they were a part of the user group. the youth group leader says the community has not lost hope. >> we are still hopeful that they are home safe because they have not found them. we do not presume that they are dead. >> it was actually the park officials that told us that are presumed dead because they say there have been many accidents and no one has ever survived falling 300 ft. over a waterfall. they've looked at this as an operation to recover the bodies. >> santa clara county sheriff's deputies and state authorities seized at least part $30 million of marijuana plants in a garden in the mount madonna county park. here are some pictures to show you what they found. they found the plant yesterday using a helicopter. they found a legal gross sites in deep world areas. two of the sites were located within the park, another to sites on private property. streetcars may be getting a new look. the transportation agency wants to completely cover up to 57 buses and streetcars with ads including wrapping them around the windows. the increase as will generate $5,000 more a year that could help to avoid service cuts. right now, muni allows ads on up to 20 percent of their vehicles with no ads over the windows. the transit agency is facing a $22 million deficit. >> seatbelts will now be installed on all you see hsn shuttle buses following that fatal crash happened last week. the goal is to alpha the entire fleet with seatbelts in kevin mack
