spots after several homes catch fire in petaluma. leading to evacuations and the closure of a major bay area highway. >> steve:and another breaking story: the richmond san rafael bridge. finally back open. a fiery wreck had kept it closed since this morning. this is the aftermath of that crash. it is still a nightmare tonight for people trying to get to the north bay. >> steve: shutdown traffic contaminated construction soil slammed into a guardrail on the richmond site of the bridge and no other cars were involved but the chp says during the collision the diesel fuel tank was ruptured causing a spell that such a big rig and eventually a burning it to the ground. because of major delays and roadways the debris of fuel has been since cleaned up the chp says caltrans will keep an eye spots after several homes catch fire in petaluma. leading to evacuations and the closure of a major bay area highway. >> steve:and another breaking story: the richmond san rafael bridge. finally back open. a fiery wreck had kept it closed since this morning. this is the aftermath of that crash. it is still a nightmare tonight for people trying to get to the north bay. >> steve: shutdown traffic have reopened around 520 this evening less than an hour ago bringing much-needed relief to what has become a brutal evening commute. the trouble started around 8:00 when a truck driver hauling contaminated construction soil slammed into a guardrail on the richmond site of the bridge and no other cars were involved but the chp says during the collision the diesel fuel tank was ruptured causing a spell that such a big rig and eventually a burning it to the ground. because of major delays and roadways the debris of fuel has been since cleaned up the chp says caltrans will keep an eye on the bridge to determine if more repairs will be necessary. >> reporter: the driver was not seriously injured and chp also says at this time the driver has not been sighted the investigation into the crash is still open back and change down the road main thing is that these lines are back open traffic flowing freely about 2025 minutes ago cars were speeding past you can see it has crawled to a now back open to traffic all lanes are back open that is good news close for some time. to the homes that were affected for homes that are now uninhabitable a total of 12 homes were damaged and this was a very big fire. some other way and show you what it looks like in this neighborhood where this all happened often in the distance you can see some of the firefighters in the distance calling in acres tonight. and is only five - percent contained. as you just saw. firefighters are attacking it with everything they have. the fire is located in the santa cruz moutains about ten - miles south of
