the state's water experts brainstorming today on how to fix california's extreme discuss drought. rain is headed to the bay area. what to expect in the coming days. developing story of san jose where overnight there was a deadly house fire it happened at around 12-15 near downtown san jose. kron 4's will tran is on the scene to tell us what happened. everybody apparently the firefighters said a lot of people in this neighborhood called the dead. they put out within it hour. but initially they did not think anyone was inside the home for it with a chance to talk to the fire capt. here's what he had to say about the discovery. >>: heavy fire conditions. fortunately they were able to contain even though it was used, there were able to contain the fire just to the cottage. minimal damage to the front house as well as maybe the windows got a little bit charged but that is about it. no injuries to anyone else except the victim of this fire. back to you darya. >>: developing news out of the south bay. one person was killed in an overnight fire in san jose. the fire was reported at 12- 15 this morning at willard ave and douglas street. this is a picture of that fire from the san jose fire department. when firefighters arrived on scene, they found a structure burning behind a home. after firefighters put out the fire, they entered the structure and found a body. on other person was injured in the fire. arson investigators were called out to the scene. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. a large fire in san francisco. destroyed a building. and created huge smoke plumes which could be seen for miles. this cell phone video was taken just across the street from the luxor cab service garage. it happened in the bayview district just before noon yesterday. you can see the fire burning through the roof. and thick pit the sky. some employees at nearby businesses were forced to evacuate. no one was injured. ♪ [ mom ] time for breakfast. but still a hot spot for your ride. the adults who were supposed to take care of napa toddler kayleigh slusher.will instead be in court to answer for her death. ryan scott warner.and kayleigh's mother sara krueger are both accused in the little girl's murder. police found her body in a napa apartment last month. and coroners say at one point.kayleigh's body had been kept in suitcase inside a freezer. also happening this morning.the teen accused of setting setting 16 year old sasha fleischman on fire on an a-c transit bus.is back in court.this time in adult court. fleischman was badly burned when police say richard thomas set fire to his skirt. detectives say thomas confessed to setting the fire.because he's homophobic. fleichman doe not identify with any gender. last month a judge decided thomas will be tried as an adult. in sacramento today, the state's water experts are joining officials with nasa to try and come up with ways to respond to california's drought crisis. joining us live is michael gunson, he's the program manager for nasa's jet propulsion lab, good morning. coming up on the kron four residents in another bay area community expected to conserve their water. we'll tell you where. plus, a bay area family impacted by the frightening polio-like illness. what this family is having to go through coming up. a frightening *polio-like illness is affecting children here in california. including a four-year old girl from berkeley. symptoms include weakness and even paralysis. oscarover the past 18 - months doctors in california have as many as 20 cases of a rare polio- like illness which is paralyzing the arms or legs of children. doctors acknowledge there is still a lot they don't know about this illness. something similar has been seen in asia and australia. but there remains no treatment. they want physicians and parents to be aware of what is happening so the symptoms can be spotted early. and more information on the little girl affected by this illness in berkeley. four year old sofia jarvis is now paralyzed in her left arm from polio. a year and a half ago, little sofia started wheezing so her pediatrician treated her for asthma. but the treatment did not work and she eventually was admitted to the i-c-u. and even in the hospital, doctors still could not figure out what was on, and at this point it was too late, paralysis has started to set in. but sofia's parents didn't give up and took her to see a neurologists at lucile packard children's hospital stanford. that was when she was diagnoised with polio like symptoms. sofia's parents refuse to accept the paralysis as a permanent thing. she has been doing physical and occupational therapy on a weekly basis. they hope this will help her nerves recover, and use her arm again. a bubbly 4 year old with all the personality in the world is now dealing with a setback.her left arm is paralyzeda year and a half ago, little sofia started wheezing. her pediatrician treated her for asthma. on the way home she started vomiting. there had been a stomach bug going around so we thought that was what she was possibly experiencing. sofia jarvis was eventually admitted to the i-c-u. the difficulty in breathing just wouldn't go away. for days she was treated for asthma. before leaving the hospital her pediatrician gave her a shot of anti- biotics for fear she may have pneumonia. doctor's couldn't pin point her symptoms - they had no idea what they were looking for. by then paralysis had already started kicking in. for days she couldn't use her left arm. didn't realize she had a spinal cord inflammation and that her arm would be permanently paralyzed. after a number of different treatments that didn't work, sofia's parents sought out neurologists at lucile packard children's hospital stanford. they identified the rare disease that shares some of the same characteristics as polio. what it was that specifically happened i don't think we're ever gonna know. i think we missed the opportunity to figure out what happened, because if it was a virus or a bacteria or really needed to pick it up right away reporting in palo alto we have a special section on kron 4-dot-com for the upcoming storm. happening today: sonoma county supervisors are expected to declare a "drought emergency". it would make the county eligible for state and federal aid. several jurisdictions within the county have already proclaimed states of emergency. or similar responses to the drought. healdsburg is under a mandatory 20-percent water cut. and santa rosa is under hoss and a news conference will be held today for wednesday's nationwide "hoodie's up day." tomorrow marks the two-year anniversary of the killing of trayvon martin by neighborhood watchman george zimmerman. the news conference will be at noon at the fruitvale plaza in oakland. a new governemnt should be in place by thursday in ukraine. ukraine's interim leader has previously said the new government could be formed by today. turchinov was named interim leader after president viktor yanukovych fled the capital after signing a peace deal with opposition leaders to end violent clashes between police and protesters and kiev. law enforcement agencies have issued an arrest warrant for yanukovych over the killing of 82 people, mainly protesters. yanukovych's whereabouts are unknown. he was last reportedly seen in the crimea, a pro-russia area. an u-s-a olympics team member has really brought home quite the souvenirs from sochi. saint louis blues player david backes and his wife rescued two of the hundreds of stray dogs that were all around sochi. backes says these two dogs hoss sochi junior and sochi jake and, did picking ahead kept on showing up at the resort where the players' families were staying. so the backes decided to go through all the red tape to try to bring these dogs home to saint louis. the backeses are animal lovers. in fact they run a foundation called athletes for animals. backes says all the stray animals in sochi and the killed or euthanized, touched him. a star saint louis blues player who was part of team u-s-a in the olympics brought back much more from sochi than just memories of playing on olympic ice. david backes and his wife rescued two of the hundreds of stray dogs that were all around sochi. the breakfast business. tarbell is getting into the breakfast the business. the company made an announcing saying it's rolling out a new breakfast menu nationwide, beginning march 27-th. the fast-food chain has already been testing out breakfast at restaurants in california, nebraska and tennessee. the menu features traditional items with a taco bell twist. they include: the waffle taco -- a warm waffle wrapped around a sausage was turning onto lopes road, from canyon hills drive when an infinity smashed into his mazda sunday evening. witnesses tell police, the driver of a black, toyota tundra managed to avoid the wreckage and kept on going. the driver of the infinity is now in the hospital with life- threatening injuries. he has not been arrested at this point. police are trying to figure out exactly what happened. in
