entire eastern seaboard stretching down to miami, florida we saw very active weather, heavy rain, heavy snow, but all of that has drifted out to sea so that storm now back in the atlantic. we're still dealing with a little bit of snow in the boston area, western pennsylvania in places like detroit, but that's really the extent of it. we're not talking the active weather that we were experiencing for the past couple of days. now it's still cold, very chilly conditions for everyone heading to that macy's thanksgiving day parade. as of right now here in the bay area, temperatures are in the 30s, 40s and 50s, san francisco 51 degrees right now, we're seeing mostly cloudy conditions, with san jose you're out the door to 47. as we head into the afternoon future cast 4 shows mainly 60s by lunch time, we'll gain a few degrees approaching the afternoon highs and then by later on tonight expect cloudy conditions and temperatures back in the mid to upper 50s. let's talk afternoon highs, mid to upper 60s today in the south bay so it's a pretty nice day we're talking seasonal weather with scattered clouds, partly sunny conditions, 66 degrees your high today in san jose. as we focus on the eastbay you'll see really not much difference in those temperatures either. concord hitting a high of 65, 67 degrees in pittsburgh. downtown san francisco will remain in the low 60s, expect temperatures to be a few degrees warmer along the eastbay shoreline. north of the golden gate bridge it looks like we mix out in the low to mid 60s. satellite and radar shows the high clouds that continue to work their way into the bay area. we were tracking a weak system that could have potentially brought us some showers but any moisture we do see will be closer to the monterey county coastline, so really just scattered clouds to overcast conditions as we approach your thanksgiving meal. your seven day forecast shows temperatures won't budge by much as we head into the weekend but next week we will experience a cool down, in fact tuesday and wednesday not only are we talking a 20% chance for showers but your warmest spots actually struggle to make it into the mid 50s. 5:23 is those black friday deals. its become something of a competitive sport hasn't it with some of the best deals in the bay area coming actually one day earlier on thanksgiving day. traditionally black friday began with those door buster sales early in the morning following thanksgiving, however we've got more and more stores offering thanksgiving day sales in the evening of thanksgiving so we've got some stores like kmart opening before turkeys even out of the oven, they open their doors for nearly two straight days, best buy will be opening their stores at 6:00 tonight, wal-mart as well, target will be opening up at 8:00 p.m. with extra hours until black friday arrives, bart is also offering passengers an alternative to crowded roadways on black friday, they are having longer trains for you, operating throughout the system on friday, starting at 6:00 a.m., to help you with all of your shopping, they even have cancelled scheduled track maintenance on the pittsburgh bay point line in anticipation of a busy holiday shopping weekend and we've got kron4 standing by live and visiting at a best buy in marin where folks are literally camping out. the tents are up. here is another fun fact for you on this thanksgiving day. have it your way. if ben franklin did, the turkey would be our national bird, maybe you've heard of this. an eagle he wrote in a letter to his daughter had, "bad moral character" a turkey on the other hand, he said, was a much more respectable bird. we are back, it is 5:30. it is thanksgiving and of course, it is a scene that we've seen quite a bit over the last few years, shoppers already lined up to grab a hold of those black friday sales a day early. kronjackie sissealso de best buy in marin. >> reporter: you said i'm really excited about that. you know it used to be that black friday was the day a lot of retailers would say that's when they went into the black, they started to make their profit on that day and now it's starting to be pushed obviously into thanksgiving, already out here at the best buy in marin, there are about oh, probably a dozen or so people in line. the first person in line got here at 8:30 yesterday. not 8:30 last night. 8:30 yesterday morning, so by the time the doors open here at 6:00, those people will be in line well mower than 24 hours obviously and it's being repeated across the country, more and more retailers are starting to open their doors on thanksgiving day as opposed to black friday, people continue to stand in line waiting to get those good deals, or what they perceive to be a good deal. i had a chance to talk to the first person in line. i said it earlier this morning. this guy happens to be my neighbor. his name is kevin. he and his wife make it a tradition. they do it every year, sit out in these long lines waiting to get the good deal and i ask them two important questions. how much are you saving, what are you getting and why do it? >> we're picking up a couple flat screen tv's, new bluray that's half price, we're picking up some dvds, we're picking up some wi-fi devises, we're getting new tablets and even a new laptop for a friend of ours. >> one other question. why on thanksgiving day? >> that's the bummer. this year, everybody is that one week of less shopping they moved everything up and we're goes to miss thanksgiving dinner this year. the family is meeting and we wouldn't be able to get back here in time. >> you can see people are starting to either wake up or arriving. i can tell you, james it's in the mid 40s out here right now, obviously not like being on the east coast where it's probably well below those temperatures, but still, thanksgiving day, it's cold, it's dark, i could think of a lot more places i'd rather be on thanksgiving day than waiting in line to get a tv but these people do it every year. they wait in line and hope they get the big deal. the thing about best buy this year, james is they are actually separating their doorbuster deals. they are opening the doors at 6:00 and then at midnight they have another doorbuster deal and then they do it again on friday at 10:00 a.m. so they are splitting it up a little bit but still a lot of people waiting to get those good deals. >> i like that idea of staggering out their supply so you don't have to be the first in line before everything is sold out. i was hoping we could look through the glass and see that maybe behind the scenes preparing, but yeah, they've got the metal doors down. they aren't taking any chances. >> they aren't open yet. >> right. >> there's not anybody in there. in fact i talked to the people in line and they said the store people we're here until about 1:00 a.m. last night setting up the store. they don't open until 6:00 p.m. tonight so it's a little later obviously. >> but boy up late getting everything ready. i'm sure they are out positioning all of the product and we saw video jackie in a story earlier about how some stores were putting like directions on the floors, repositioning the product so that you didn't have to go hunting through the store, it's right in front for you to grab. i bet they got this like a well oiled machine best buy does. >> they do actually. they have tape on the floor, when you go into the store you immediately know and the thing is, james they start handing out the doorbuster deals about two hours beforehand and you start plotting out your stov they tell you where everything is in the store, what deal you might want to get and then when those doors open, the people that are waiting in line know exactly where they need to be in the store. some of them team up, teams of two, three, four, five people and they split the store up into different quadrants if you will, one heads to the laptops, the other heads to the tv's. they know exactly what they are doing. these people, this is not their first rodeo, james. >> this is the professional black friday shoppers. >> absolutely. >> jackie thank you much. always a fun angle to thanksgiving to be out there taking a look and talking to the people in line. well, bay area law enforcement officials are also asking to be responsible of the afternoon, so we will experience cloud cover but no rain drops, not even for the south bay, it's actually shaping up to be a pretty nice thanksgiving. temperatures in the mid 60s by your afternoon
