>>reporter:joe and madison there are 23 precincts under that one roof, and from our things went pretty smoothly. a crowd in a long line at a 5 o'clock start, folks like joe came releasing they were excited to vote. >> mr. trump is going to be the man. he's a new yorker, i'm a new yorker. we understand each other. he's right here. >>reporter: the line moved quickly it took just 15-20 minutes to get checked in, get their ballot to vote. the only hiccup, if you could call it that, happened to a handful of folks i kevin heitman, he moved here from california, and ceci register to vote with the dmv, but his name was out of the last. >> i did register already, there's a lot of glitches in the system. trying to find brother or not on the list. if it's a dmv area -- error or something. >>reporter:there were no provisional ballots on sides and he has been waiting for more than an hour for someone to bring those ballots here. in addition to voting there were also precinct meetings candidates, issues, and platform >> we have a small business owner in our precinct she was really concerned about paying her employees insurance and keeping her people employed at her company >> everyone came with a pretty strong opinion. they were very, very interested in what's going on >>reporter:counting happened right after the caucus close at a 30. >> trump. trump. ted cruz. >>reporter:for the most part, an era that error that was quickly resolved, the voting count also seemed to go very smoothly. that is a lot different than what happened in the last presidential election back in 2012. it took three days to verify the votes statewide. the republican official that i spoke with tonight, jason chung, says that the turnout was heavier than expected up here in the north, probably in the south, too. he thinks the preparation >> thanks so much for that. now we are going to send things out to news 4's travertine she is live at the washoe county republican headquarters tonight were party leaders are awaiting those final numbers. >>reporter: turnout at tonight's nevada republican caucus exceeding expectations for to give you an idea back in 2012 about 33,000 people came out to vote, and that's only about 8% of registered republican voters in this state, now gibbering in washoe county chairman of the republican party, this year completely different for you guys? >> we had a great turnout. we are looking about 15-20% in most precincts are reporting to us, voter turnout, which is more than double what we had in the last caucus. we receive little to no reports of extreme chaos. of course there is the typical confusion with the caucuses are this is only the third time having one. all in all it was a great evening for washoe county. >>reporter:excellent. little bit differently this year >> one of the big is q's -- one of the big issues we had it was chaotic in 2012. it was hectic, there's a lot of the first thing we did is we decided we needed a lot more we are 28 locations this time. the really cause people to have less of a mess, and allowed more people to get in there and cast their ballots. >>reporter:we have heard a lot -- a lot of reports of chaotic caucus sites down in clark county, why do you think washoe county differed? >> i think the team appear working they work so hard, the team that was assemble -- the team that was assembled at an unbelievable job. we had 28 site coordinators trained for each one of those sites. they know exactly what to do for they were trained multiple times. it's not something where we were cramming the day before the caucus. we were stressing the six months ago. we will -- we were well prepared initial tonight. have some dinner, go to bed. >>reporter:congratulations! >> thank you so much. >>reporter:all right, there you have it. turnout exceeding expectations and washoe county and in the state. at the washoe county republican party, van tieu trying to. while things ran smoothie in washoe county the republican national committee is concerned over reports of double voting nevada. rnc spokesman confirms there were reports of double voting and not enough ballots at a high school site in las vegas. there are also reports of people being turned away, or being directed to other locations for the double voting problem appears to be limited to one part of a caucus site where different precincts were combined. compare the number of paper ballots to the sign in sheets. a concerned kennison -- citizen donna hawthorne. mark akers says he showed up to vote around 6:20 tonight. the door was opened by these appalling workers were turning >> when i went in there, there were two-four people that were walking away say they did not get to vote. and then there was people standing outside saying hey, the voting closed. i asked how come? >>reporter:it depends on who media who was visiting a lot of these precincts are reporting back, they were calling it at times "chaotic", i did speak to the chair here in nevada who said they are being overstated, there were some issues, we ran out of ballots but we had runners really quickly replace them and got them to the precincts just in time. not a big issue, he says, not like you went to the fist two cuffs that you saw in 2012 that were actually physical skirmishes because of the controversies. they are downplaying it here, although they will look into those measures. the big story is here at the media center in las vegas is the fact that donald trump has one. important to note you cannot overstate that this is someone who has never held political office who has won three of the first for state political contest. he's poised to do very well and super tuesday. you look at the polling is up double digits in many of these, but in almost every state has a lead and at least one pole. he now believes he has got the possibly pick up maybe eight-10 are up for grabs. that would be a huge considering that a lot of those states are winner take all delegates. that's where you pile up those numbers, that is were donald trump could take this race to the next level. very difficult for someone like john kasich or doctor carson to stay in the race, marco rubio and ted cruz we heard from them they plan on sticking this out as long as possible. and now we are going to focus in on those washoe county numbers, last checked the associated press has 26% of precincts reporting, trump with nearly 46% and more than 2300 votes, again, these numbers are specific to washoe county. marco rubio with 27%, and about 1300 votes, ted cruz, john kasich, and ben carson with all the less than 20%. if you notice tonight, while county, rand paul, carly fio -- fiorina, chris christie all receive less than 1% of the vote. i received they have dropped out of the race but they were represented on the ballot tonight and some voters wanted to make their voices heard. happening next, the republicans have another debate following the nevada caucuses it's happening this thursday at the university of houston in texas. it will air on cnn and telemundo. as always trying to will be covering the debate and we will have a presence in houston to bring you the latest and reaction.
