Just south of the runway of welcome to the 161st 850 members, eight planes and a global mission. This group is arizona proud. We are here to protect our state and our nation. Our octave is to provide inflight refueling anywhere in the world. Reporter for 70 years, the 161st refiling wing right here in phoenix has engaged in just situation involving the united states. Korea, vietnam, berlin. For years now, activities in the middle east. Reporter a gas station in the sky. This unit provides fuel to other aircraft midair. Just the same as you would stop in a gas station on a road trip pushing through. That is what we are able to do in the sky. Reporter it allows other aircraft to continue their missions. Just watch your head. Reporter from the ground. It is very exciting. For the 161st, this is just another day at the office. You are up in the middle of the sky. The windows open up. The boom drops and you have aircraft coming up from underneath you. Waiting for gas. Reporter it is a mission most civilians never get to see. It looks almost unreal. Reporter supporting operations here at home, and across the world. Planes in the sky means less boots on the ground. See the big gray airplanes reporter the 161st deploys airmen throughout the year in fact. Just a couple of weeks ago, they deployed 70 members on two planes to the middle east. Dozens of people complaining but no one from the Water District talking until tonight. The director not only answering questioning, but, showing us a printout from one of the customers that complained. In the desert, water is liquid gold. And in buckeye, some people believe they are paying for 24 carat h20. Jeff hancock is one of tuesday. Somebody needs to step up to the plate. It is getting ridiculous. Reporter so today, we went looking for answers. A crew did go out there. Reporter dave is the Water Resources director. This is a print out of hancocks water usage. You are using it. On this day, you used 2500 gallons. Reporter every day for a month after that one day when the usage spiked it levels off. But why is unclear. If you have a leak that is one 16th of an inch. About the thickness of a dime, you could lose eight to ten gallons a month. Reporter it ballooned to 424. 12news received complaints from dozens of customers. So could meters in buckeye be faulty . The driver had a medical condition sending him crashing into the water near akatillo and alma school. We need the public to help us and help themselves. This guy is the personification of that. They found severed goats heads hanging inside the walkin cooler here at the oasis cafe in tempe. Goats heads. Freezer wrapped in plastic bags. Which isnt even the violation. The cafe didnt have receipts for the goats and couldnt prove where they cam from. I have seen quite a few things over the years so i get surprised sometimes, but not as much as i used to obviously. Reporter for nearly two decades, tim hurst has inspected restaurants. We are a very visible agency here with what we do. And, im a customer in this as well. And, you know, i would like to know how my facilities are doing. Reporter thats exactly the service he and his team are providing. Maricopa county does not require restaurants to post their Health Inspection grades on the front window like many counties and states so it is up to you to know new china buffet had 13 of the countys most severe violations this year alone. Employees using a water bucket to rinse hands in between breading raw chicken. And mice droppings in the kitchen. The zips on warner road and gilbert failed two inspections and was cited for nine priority violations defined by the county as things known to make people sick. Violations like soiled pans. Nine day old ground beef still being stored and soft, warm cheese. 17 restaurants in Maricopa County have had their permits something hurst and his team hate doing, but sometimes have no choice. Many people have died due to food born illness outbreaks. So, us conducting inspections can help prevent them. I wanted to do something at night because i wanted to continue to work out during the day. My mom suggested ups. When did you sleep . I would nap during the day. Or after i got off, three hours. Work out, come back, nap a little bit. Then, be up. Reporter chris never complained and never stopped training and all the work finally paid off.
