that's only hazard, the back edge, and he fell for it. peter: matt jones has just 98 yards. nick: 90 really. it has to skip forward. couple yards right of the flag. peter: bringing this in low. nick: the biggest event -- divot we have seen this week. peter: it wasn't really a factor in playing the shot. nick: it exploded on him, that one. peter: aaron wise, two yards closer, 96. nick: without -- this is straightforward. if he gets this in super close and pops it in, that would be the cushion, i would have thought. peter: i would be highly surprised if he gets this hole high. maybe out to the right, but not dead at it. that's just the play. a little bit more cushion on the right side. playing some very intelligent golf. bill: to 18. grace has this for par. ian: it will move a touch right to left, falls toward the back. bill: this for 62. ian: straight in. bill: nice sunday work for that man. finishes up with 62, 31 and 31. and that ties that career best that he shot across the pond. ian: slightly more famous, the first 62 of the major. that's why he has 62 on the back of his cap. bill: this was earlier. nice roll. that was awfully well done. charles howell iii. in with 66. back now to 15. gary: boy, this is really difficult. it's a downhill lie, just near a sprinkler. probably has to go a good six feet up in the air to get to the green. ian: he is going to land it may be in that last yard of fairway, then skidded on -- skip it on? peter: he will try to land it and one-hop it to the green. you miss your spot, you will pay dearly. nick: keep your eyes on that. jammed it for safety. well, he will be kicking himself there. he needs to finish now to beat branden grace in the clubhouse at 19. bill: keith mitchell is there as well as he plays the 17th. nick: he has a chance to get to 20 or better. that's about it now, really. a three horse race. peter: every stroke is really going to help matt jones with fedexcup points, money, status. nick: he wants to finish 10th. he is 10th right now, tied with about four. he would really love one more birdie to jump up to tied eighth. peter: this should turn left most of the way. bill: leishman trying to stay at 20 under. nick: one pull with a relatively straightforward pitch shot, wedge shot in towards this 15th. bill: aaron wise now with a four-shot lead. bogey for leishman. races in with -- grace is in with 62. peter: this one wouldn't surprise me, nick. nick: he has read a little bit of break in this. couple percent right to left. oh, gee, that was a late-term. -- late turn. finishes behind the hole. bill: 17. ian: j.j. spaun from l.a. just snaps there. so quick at the start of that putt. began as a walk-on at san diego state. his coach, ryan donovan, said he has the best hands he has ever seen. thought he was like a young lee trevino. a real good stick. we will see a lot more of him. had a second-place already this year. back to matt jones. bill: 15. par for matt. remains 2 under for the final round. aaron wise, the lead is 4, and we will be back at the at&t byron nelson in just a moment. nick: back at 17, dottie. dottie: 6-iron. could not be any common -- calmer. ian: average score today of 68. dottie: this was the night that mom would fix dinner early and he would say, dad, we still have room for six or seven holes, let's go again. ian: not bad. that finds its way down to about 12 feet. dottie: same club here, ian. 6. ian: 198. jack left hole. you have to get -- back left hole. you have to get it over that wave. don't leave it short. dottie: 193 all the way to the valley at the bottom of the wave. ian: coming off birdie, birdie at 15, 16. dottie: that's not a bad leave. ian: it should feed down a little. dottie: it should. ian: pretty straight putt across from there. just over 20 feet. two chances. mitchell can get to 20. blaum can get to 18. a lot of fedexcup points and some dollars to spend. finishing high up, that's good to see. aaron wise out. peter: 270 out in that big fairway. i tell you what, he has typed it off the tee today -- has piped it off the tee today. gary: a lot of fairways and greens involved with his game today. peter: policeman going with the fairway -- leishman going with the fairway wood now. dottie: that's absolutely perfect also. -- gary: that's absolutely perfect also. and let's go down now to amanda. amanda: here with branden grace on his 30th birthday. is there a better way to celebrate than with time your career low round? >> going home to see the wife and the little ones. it was fun. obviously a great day. things didn't look too good at the start of the day, maybe not even thinking of playing. then a couple hours later, coming in with nine under is pretty special. it was a great birthday. peter: what is it -- amanda: what is it about the layout that you love so much? branden: you get more like the links golf course than a normal golf course. it was a bit of fresh air. it was fun. i think that everyone involved did a great job with the venue. it's only going to get better with time. whenever thing settles, it will be a proper test -- when everything settles, it will be a proper test. amanda: all right. see you at memorial. gary: go, go. good putt from down there. he just drove it a little too far to the right, next to the bunker. he chose to just hit it to the left of the bunker. you see it at the top of your picture. tried to run out. it didn't do it. got to have a plan, though. if he cap this one in, he will remain -- if he taps this one in, he will remain at 16 under, three under par for the day, which is about par according to all the scores. i would like to see what the number is for the field score here today. let's go to 17. ian: this was just moments ago with kevin tway. dottie: this was one less club, 7-iron, way up in the air. ian: 126 feet of apex. it's a beauty. this will feedback as well. -- feed back as well. one of them will give the other a read. oh, there you go. dottie: kevin tway is the beneficiary. ian: these guys will get finished, gary. gary: they are. we have about 45 minutes. the last couple of minutes might be a little iffy. about 45 minutes to total darkness out here. and he still has his sunglasses on. shades. the future is so bright, he has to wear shades, doesn't he? those are dark mirrored ones, too. he looks like he is playing at about 3:00 in the morning. they could do that telecast of him playing at this time of the morning. it's -- to read putts, he is a good putter. you have to have light to see the breaks. ian: can see his scorecard -- cannot see his scorecard. nick: i can't read anything with my sunglasses on either. i'm glad i'm not the only one. peter: he doesn't take them off. nick: ryan blaum. it has been a good week. the miss here, dottie, across from that side of the green has been a little short and a little too much break. dottie: a little on the short side. it would be slower than you would think, yes. ian: three-time all-american out of duke. two-time acc player of the year. dottie: good call on the putt. ian: they just don't see it. it's just that little bit more. a tough hole location today. it looks innocuous, but it is tricky. best finish so far this season is t10 at sony. let's go to the last. bill: j.j. ian: perfect. just land it on about seven or eight yards, get the downslope, feed it to the corner. bill: nicely done. 7 under for the final round. 17. ian: this to get to nine under par. and 20 under total. dottie: he is trying to make it very interesting for young mr. wise, but not quite there. ian: just an impossible putt to make from their. they haven't even gotten close from this side, dottie. just really breaks early, quickly early. speed is not so hard, but still a good week for him. dottie: think about last week. he wasn't even in the players. got it when paul casey was hurt. ian: that's right. dottie: this is going to set the tone for the remaining part of the season for him. this is a pretty strong performance. ian: just trying to get those four rounds together, that's the key. 79th in the fedexcup. back to 16. peter: a little doublecross for 119 yards. that's the first swing that we've seen thatoo iffy. and it was from 119. this one from just 95. dottie: trying to hole it. peter: he almost did. gary: it was dancing all around it. it looked good from his angle. i think his eyes got a little big when he saw that second shot of our leader, kevin tway. ian: let's see if kevin can learn from keith. even having seen keith mitchell's putt. man, that breaks quickly. all pars there in that second to last group coming up to the 17th tee. this young fellow leads the way by four. shoes, customer needs & he's got wide feet. & with edge-to-edge intelligence you've got near real time inventory updates. & he'll find the same shoes in your store that he found online he'll be one happy, very forgetful wide footed customer. at&t provides edge to edge intelligence. it can do so much for your business, the list goes on and on. that's the power of &. & if your customer also forgets socks! & you could send him a coupon for that item. bill: at the 18th, keith mitchell, 19 under, but four back. ian: and on -- hang on. this man's got an amazing bucket list. i like this one, he wants to win a tournament, likes the ocean, and he wants to own a restaurant. we're going for surf and turf. bill: perfect. 16. gary: well, peter, after that terrible, terrible shot, just the worst shot we've seen from him all day, he has 35 feet here for a birdie. peter: down the slope. getting it there should not be an issue. just get it started on line. gary: both thumbs right down the shaft. everything he does is buy the book. -- by the book. that the speed right. makes sure he doesn't short side the wedge shot. you get the idea. fun to watch. you think you've seen the young guys out here. you think you have named them all. all of a sudden, aaron wise shows up. how is he doing? he is blitzing the field. peter: he has two important shots left, the tee shot at 17 and 18. those are the only two that can get him in a heap of trouble. gary: when was the last time he missed dead center fairway? once. matt jones,, no, no. it's going to the right. it's getting dark out here. matt remains at 15 under par. well, peter, this could be entertaining. birdie, birdie, birdie. that gets me to 22. do you like 22? peter: you know, it's really easy on this golf course to have a two-shot swing on any given hole. gary: worm cam. perfect. 20 under. excuse me. yeah, there we go. to 18. bill: spaun. ian: tied third. bill: 19 under. ian: free swinging stroke. it went in. bill: beautiful from the beginning. 63. quite a day. 32 and 31, taking advantage of these outstanding scoring conditions. trinity forest. ryan blaum back on the at&t, whips it left. ian: we have a sand dune left an d a bit of hay. oh, not a good option to go for the hay. bill: a couple of our colleagues are celebrating some milestones soon. mark gibbs, his son evan graduating from bard college in new york. our friend jim's daughter avery 's graduating from high school and heading to usc. congratulations to both of those gentlemen. heading off to be a usc trojan. they are playing the university of texas september 15 in austin. that's one of the big early-season matchup. at&t byron nelson, the final round winding down. bill: we are back at the 18th. here is sung kang. ian: this was just a second ago. he misses the putt. in anger gives it up. he has made it legal. -- illegal. he'll get rid of that one again. bill: taken out of play. ian: give that a throw. go and grab a bit of loft, maybe a wedge to finish out. how about that? and his foot is going -- oh, why did you do that? he'll have to limp his way back to the clubhouse. bill: could not have been pleasant. at least had the mindfulness to go back and replace the club. this is where the tee shot ended up. ian: there's only one bad spot on this whole -- hole left, and there it is. a little shank-a-doodle. dottie: don't mind us. we are right here. he had nothing. ian: that fairway is nearly 40 yards wide and he hit it in the only unplayable spot. moving on. bill: aaron wise waiting on the tee back at the 17th. again, tremendous composure from this young man, as we said earlier. we talked to his coach at the university of oregon where he won an individual national championship and part of a team national championship. casey martin, the coach, said he is impressive, mature, cerebral, intelligent, emotionally stable. this would be the 500th win by former web.com tour players. aaron wise, who really won at every level, the ncaa's, the mackenzie tour canada, then the web.com tour last year, con a couple weeks agotended -- cont ended a couple weeks ago. runner-up at wells fargo. peter: i can tell you he has fist bumped every kid who put a fist out there. bill: that's great. just wonderful composure from this young man. dottie: 186 left for ryan. bill: after the unfortunate spot off the tee. third shot. ian: this will be a tough shot for him. he is a drawer of the golf ball and the flag is in the right corner and you don't want to go right. dottie: that was compounded by being on a pitcher's mound, feet underneath the golf ball. bill: six under his final round. shot 67 in very challenging conditions yesterday. dottie: only a pitching wedge left for keith mitchell. a little adrenaline, i have to believe. ian: you can't really go at the flag. middle of the green, get a good kick. you can't go at that flag from that angle. there is a huge downslope. how far did he carry that wedge, dottie? dottie: crazy. it was, in his defense, it was a flyer. bill: 17. nick: jimmy walker had a good tee shot here. this for birdie to get to 17 under. continues his good play after a second place finish last week. and, yes! big draws here from the texan crowd at 17. take route on top of the hill -- big crowd on top of the hill. it's amazing how many people have stayed out so late, so long after a really cold, wet morning. really good fans, golf fans, sport fans in dallas-fort worth. brian gay missed the green to the left. he has had to chip down. has a par putt. kevin na was over on the right side of the green and has had to chip up. na at 16 under. jimmy walker just made birdie to get to 17. brian gay at 15 under. i mentioned it before, 68 is the average score today, 3 under par. this one left for the par for brian gay. and the final grouping are back on the 17th tee. finally got the sunglasses off. [laughter] it is getting dark. of course, the camera operators here have the iris opene more -- opened more. the more the darkness encroaches and engulfs us, the more light we have to let in and it doesn't look as dark to you on the screens, but it is getting quite dark. by the time they get to the 18th green, that is about as far as it can go. the sun is setting. we have three suns? we're all guessing when we first came on air at 2:00 on cbs if we would get this in. a long golf course, a long way around, playing in groups of three. but it looks like we are going to do it. ian: sun will be down at 8:21. they need 12 minutes or so to play the 17th. bill: well, it has been a long day for that young man, for the entire field, the whole crew at cbs sports. after a four-hour weather delay pushed things back in the final round, trying to get it complete. ian: bogey three, billy. bill: before full darkness sets. kevin makes par at the 17th. ian: birdie and an eagle. gary:
