Fleetwood was the bands manager as well as it was very hard, because i wasnt the classic dude, the manager penny pincher. I just wanted to see everyone happy, including myself. Nicks and buckingham were breaking up. The mcvies headed for divorce, and fleetwood as well, just as they began working on their second album, rumors. Were there lots of problems . Yes. A lot of people around us, our Record Company and people around us were going, okay, mick, when arekygf going to break up because i dont get how youre pulling this off . All of us. It was the music. They have injuries, the healing process, and then their rediscovery of purpose. Thats the story were trying to tell here. Reporter the story of soldiers like bob dole who came back from world war ii to became a senator and run for president. It gives you the strength to endure. Faith that wont allow you to give up. Faith in a ferocious determination to take the next step. The one that everyone else says is impossible. And the stories of disabled veterans you never heard of. Up on the wall right along with bob dole. It doesnt matter if youre famous. Its what youve been through. You probably earned it as much as bob dole did. Thats humbling, because ive always seen myself as just like a normal average joe. Reporter joe was shot by a sniper in iraq in 2007. Have you seen the picture that they put up there of you . Iveve seen it when i was in a wheelchair. Reporter when was that taken . At my purple heart ceremony at walter reid. Average joe is now a junior at columbia university. I was never really ambitious. Reporter here you are getting an education at a top college in new york. Yeah. After i was wounded i saw that as a Second Chance. I wanted to make the most out of it, especially for my friends sacrifices. I wanted to be the best i could be until i die. Reporter the stories told here gives a line to George Washingtons words that nothing can be for mur distressing sight than to behold those who lost their blood or limbs in service to their country.
