Happened just this past summer. Having queer people at the table in position of power to advocate for the community in ways that frankly oftentimes is the life of the officials that they can do can change the trajectory and save a lot of people not only hospital times, but potentially their lives. Reporter this year 1,000 lgbtq people are running for office. Here if california a record 10 of the state legislature is expected to be made up of lgbtq elected officials. They have so many queer people on so many ballots across the country. Ballots in every single state is really remarkable. Here in San Francisco again, we were really at the forefront of achieving that sort of represen still feels special here. And standing in milks old camera shop, these Record Number is incredible. The more people see themselves represented in government, the more they feel like there is space for them to sort of step up and run for office themselves and make that impact. Alameda county is trying to put the conspiracies to rest by putting the work of their ballot counters on full display. The county launched three web cams on its elections web page. They show workers opening ballots, verifying signatures. The county registrar says steps like this are important to fight misinformation. We see whats happening nationally with peoples concerns about running a fair election. This is another way for us to provide transparency to the process that we do here at alameda county. The people are not feeling their vote is equally being protected that it will lose the competence of their ability for people to participate in a democratic process. The cameras are now live. More will be added tomorrow night after the polls close. The link is on acvotes. Org. They will send election monitors to the polls at 64 election sites in two dozen states tomorrow. Making sure they will comply with federal Voting Rights laws. A practice to support the voters who will trace back to the 1965 Voting Rights acts. Along with Los Angeles County are the two california locations where federal election monitors are being sent. In sonoma county, they are hoping people will get to the polls for free tomorrow. Petaluma transit and the city bus and transit will be letting passengers ride for free all day. Experts believe this year will set voter turnout records. We explain what is driving the surge. Their messaging is pivoting to republican threats of handling their Social Security and medicare. For portland student, he feels after the january 6 attack, democracy saw the ballot. We cant really fix the client change. We cant really help the healthcare system. We cant bring relief to students across the country until we have faith in democracy. Reporter they say when all the votes are counted, the most important issue will be brought in for voters. For democracy to work, there has to be trust that election systems can produce accurate and honest outcomes. Voters should expect delays because of vote counting that will take time. Some of those heavier downpours will be with us for tuesday and again plan on some extra time and extra patience as well. Then were down to that off and on shower by midday. Maybe a third of an inch on the low end to 3 inches of rain on the high end. Just over an inch range for total rainfall. A closer look at that burn scar outlined in red. Well show you how much rain will fall there. Its been a couple of years since they fired in 2020 and still something we need to watch for in case of debris flow issues. They are not likely to be heavy enough to cause any significant issues, and there will be snow along with the wind advisory tomorrow. The winds will be gusting up to around 45 miles an hour along the coast. And that is what they have picked up, very challenging travel conditions on i80. And the temperatures right now mostly in the 50s, dropping down to the upper 40s tomorrow morning. And not warming up too far from there. Well be stuck in the 50s for the daytime highs on tuesday. These numbers are a good 10 to 15 degrees above average. And temperatures will warm up over the weekend in the low to mid50s by saturday and sunday. What is the last of the showers to wind down by midday wednesday. It looks like were in for a stretch of dry weather on thursday and from time friday. The property caught fire shortly after several witnesses described a bright ball of light falling from the sky. Its quiet here in this secluded area of nevada county.
