Investigators in florida are trying to figure out just how a woman was accidentally shot to death by a Police Officer during a class about police procedures. Punta gorda is about 100 miles south of tampa. The police chief calls the accident unimaginable. Mary knowlton was one of about 35 attending the Citizens Police academy exercise. Two participants were randomly selected to put in a shoot, dont shoot scenario in which they were would make decisions on using simulated lethal force in a live play. Knowlton was shot with a live round. The officer who was involved has been put on administrative leave. Reporter this is the pseudomonas bacteria that was found in this maryland hospital Neonatal Unit at prince georges hospital. The babies have been moved to another hospital. This is out of abundance of concern for safety. Reporter doctors say all three babies are all clinically asymptomatic and may not be infected. Pathologists are investigating the recent death of other babies in the ncu but have yet to find a direct link. There have been no clear deaths associated with these in fact,tions. Reporter according to the centers for Disease Control and prevention, 51,000 people in Health Care Settings get infected with this pseudomonas bacteria each year and 13 are multidrug resistant to this bacteria and 400 people die each year. Patients in the hospital who get this particular infect are already very, very ill. Reporter hospitals believe the bacteria came from water pipes leading into the hospital. They stopped using that water in the ncu several days ago. On wednesday, they will begin the process of disinfecting the plumbing.
