So today we have jordan and japan in this torturous waiting period, and now for the first time we have the hostages wife making a plea. An emotional plea from the wife of japanese journalist kenji goto has so far gone unanswered. On thursday she issued her first Public Statement to a group that helps families of freelance journalists through crisis. Envelope it she reveals that she received several emails from isis after the group took her husband hostage. She pressed the japanese and jordanian governments to save kenji and the pilot muath al kaseasbeh. I pray. The fate of both men are in your hands. The comments came on the same day they said they were to release him and the pilot. Al kaseasbeh was captured when. Very remains in prison for her role in failed bomb attempt in 2005. Well, the fbi added a former virginia taxi driver to its list of most wanted terrorists. Authorities say 29yearold liban haji mohamed was a recruiter for the Al Shabaab Terror Group in somalia. He is a naturalized u. S. Citizen. The fbi said his knowledge of the nations capitol could help terrorists plot an attack. Three American Contractors have been shot and killed in afghanistan. The taliban claimed responsibility for the attack thursday. It took place in a military section of the kabul airport. An afghan official said the gunman wore an Afghan Police uniform. And a group with ties to isis said its responsible for the deadly attacks on egypts security forces. Militants launched a series of coordinated strikes thursday on more than a dozen targets in the sinai peninsula. In one attack they set off a car bomb at a military base while simultaneously firing mortars. The violence claimed at least 26 military and police officers. And the nationwide Measles Outbreak is spreading this morning along with pressure on those who are not immunized. There are at least 98 cases in 14 states, most of them in california. The centers for Disease Control is urging americans to get the vaccine, which it says is 97 effective. Marlie hall shows us the steps schools are taking to contain the threat. Reporter School Officials in south dakota are on a race against time. Theyre going over student records to see which students were vaccinated against the measles and which were not. If one of our students were to be diagnosed with a case of measles, wed need to act pretty quickly. Reporter after 14 cases were reported the state Health Department sent this letter to parents saying that if measles is diagnosed at a school, unvaccinated students will be excluded until 21 days after the onset of rash in the last case. Measles is a highly contagious disease. The cdc said this month alone 84 people were diagnosed with the measles. Most of them are linked to disney theme parks in california. This california doctor posted on facebook that he would not be accepting new patients who decided not to vaccinate their children. Some parents choose not to vaccinate their children because of personal beliefs. Other children cant get the vaccine because their immune systems are compromised like 6yearold rhett cruwett who has battled leukemia. His parents are urging other moms and dads to vaccinate their kids. We rely on the people that can be immunized to be immunized to protect the rest of the population. Reporter 51yearold dirk kaufman was riding his bike last march when he was hit by a car. He wound up in the emergency room at bellevue hospital. What was the first thing you thought when you woke up . What the hell happened. Reporter what happened was a concussion and memory loss and confusion. In kaufmans case the injury did not show up on the cat scan. Less obvious cases are harder to diagnose. Concussion has 43 definitions and thats part of the problem is that nobody knows how to define it, diagnose it or count the incidence of it. Reporter she and her group are finding a way to diagnose concussion by looking at how eyes track a moving image. 97 of healthy move their eyes together at a very predictable rate. They found that those with a concussion had problems with eye tracking even when cat scans showed no evidence of brain injury. The study also found the more severe the symptoms, the more abnormal the tracking. One problem is injured athletes can downplay symptoms in order to keep playing. I think this is really important, that theres an objective measure. You cant fake whether your eyes move together. When somebody has brain injury, youre going to be able to detect it.
