The suspect is the childrens father said to be going through a difficult divorce. He surrendered late last night. Police were called to the home in the northern houston suburb of spring yesterday evening. There they found two adults and three children dead. A fourth child died later at the hospital. The 15yearold daughter was also shot. Threehour standoff. Reporter at the Country Lake Estates very nervous. You wont believe. Im shaking. In my own neighborhood. I think thats crazy. Reporter homeowners told to plea from their houses gathered to safer ground. They just told us we need to leave. . The car back there. Its pretty scary. Reporter all of this came at the end of of a police pursuit. All these cops came. We called my mom first. We live down the street. We said, mom, lock all the doors. We dont know whats going on. Inside, the suspect in a deadly mass shooting. The man armed with a handgun at times placing a phone to the ear and speaking with a Law Enforcement negotiator. He has an active dialogue that weve turned over to hostage negotiation team. Talking while neighbors worry about something they never expected to see. A survey of colleges and universities finds that theyre not doing a good job of investigating Sexual Assaults on cam pass. Claire mccaskill plans to introduce legislation this summer to hip deal with the problem. Reporter the government statistics are a jolt to parents who have kids in college. One in five undergrad yacht women has been the victim of an attack or attempted attack and less than five percent of college rape victims report it to Law Enforcement. Claire mccaskill looked into the problem sending surveys to 40 colleges and universities that educate around the country to find out how they deal with sex assault. Its really important that this survey be a wakeup call. Reporter she said among the most troubling finding more than 40 have not conducted a single is investigation in five years. If theyre saying they have not had any investigation, that means they are in denial or theyre incompetent or theyre not taking this problem seriously. Reporter the survey reveals more than 20 of schools did not provide Sexual Assault training for faculty and staff and more than 30 do not provide training for students. The survey also found many students dont provide enough aftercar for Sexual Assault victims. Here in lan here in los angeles they want to make it available.
