The most recent targets former Vice President joe biden and actor Robert De Niro, both of whom have suggested theyd like to punch mr. Trump. The president has also said some pretty severe things about them. So it is now 10 suspected bombs now sent to eight people. Officials caution there may be more packages in the mail. None of the packages has exploded, and no one has been hurt thus far. Cbs news has learned one focus of the investigation is florida. Heres jeff pegues. Reporter sources tell cbs news investigators are zeroing in on postal facilities in south florida, where they believe at at this sorting facility in opalaka you can see Police Officers are blocking the entrance, miamidade Police Officers are inside. We have been told theyve been asked to assist by the f. B. I. In conducting a sweep of this facility, but, so far, have not found anything suspicious. Were also told investigators are looking at Surveillance Video from other facilities. One Law Enforcement source told cbs news earlier today, all arrows pointing to florida. The Florida Office address of congresswoman Debbie Wasserman schultz was listed as a return address on all the packages that were sent out. Jeff . Thank you. Now to the discovery today of more suspected bombs and two targets. Jeff pegues has the latest. Reporter this morning the delaware officials found two package bombs found addressed to Vice President joe biden. And before dawn, the new York Police Department found one bomb addressed to Robert De Niro at his Production Company in the tribeca neighborhood. The tip came from a retired new York Police Detective who was working in de niros office. New York Police Commissioner james oneill. The n. Y. P. D. And the f. B. I. , we are taking this seriously. We are treating them as live devices. Reporter overnight in los angeles, police found a second bomb addressed to democratic congresswoman maxine waters. That was on top of six bombs discovered so far. All of the recipients had been criticized by President Trump and many were critical of him. Last night in wisconsin, the president said the media was partly to blame. The media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility and constant negative and oftentimes false attacks. Reporter former c. I. A. Director john brennan, who had a package sent to him at cnns new york office yesterday, addressed the president in a tweet saying, clean up your act. Try to act president ial. Investigators acknowledge there is likely a political message behind the bombs. This is domestic terrorism. Reporter jerome hauer, a former Homeland Security chief for new york, said even if the bombs were not meant to detonate, they made their point. My sense of it is theyre crude. They were not supposed to explode. But hes trying to terrorize people by sending something that looks absolutely real. Reporter Officials Say all 10 packages look similar, and the devices themselves were made to look like active bombs. Theyre now being examined at the f. B. I. s hightech bomb laboratory in quantico, virginia. David chipman, who spent 25 years at the a. T. F. , said the f. B. I. Will have plenty of evidence to look through. Were hearing that there was a timing device as part of it, a digital clock that was connected to a small battery. What does that tell you . It tells me theres a lot of leads now, because weve got, like, nine, 10 devices now recovered. A typical person doesnt buy 10 digital clocks at one time. And so, thats good for Law Enforcement. That would raise, you know, attention to a store owner. Reporter postal inspectors have spent days poring through millions of pieces of mail looking for similar packages. Philip bartlett is the lead postal inspector in new york. I will say in the Postal Network we have found nothing in the last eight hours, so what we have so far is what we have 10 parcels. Thanks very much. The president is making good on the threat to send troops to the southern border to head off a caravan of migrants seeking asylum. Critics are questioning the president s timing. Paula reid has more on this. Reporter less than two week weeks before the midterm election, the Trump Administration is expected to deploy hundreds of additional troops to the u. S. Mexico border. They will not have the authority to apprehend Illegal Immigrants but will work on other aspects of border security, reinforcing barriers, and providing reconnaissance along the border. The deployment will include engineers, medical personnel, and pilots. President trump has vowed to stop the Migrant Caravan making its way through mexico, tweeting this morning, i am bringing out the military for this national emergency. At a rally in wisconsin last night, the president also used the issue to rile his conservative base. Un wait until you see what happens over the next couple of weeks. And the number of migrants in the group has dwindled significantly over the past few days from its peak of roughly 7,000. Until we can have a wall and proper security, were going to be guarding our border with the military. Reporter the 800 troops will join the roughly 2,000 National Guardsmen the president dispatched in april. Its not clear if the additional deployment will also be guardsmen or active duty. Defense secretary mattis is expected to sign that order for additional troops tonight, but its unclear exactly what impact they will have because many of these migrants, if they even make it to the border, are expected to surrender to Border Patrol and seek asylum. Avenatti criminally conspired with miss swetnick to make materially false statements to the committee. Avenatti, who also represents porn star Stormy Daniels in her case against the president , is a particularly tempting target for Senate Republicans because he has been open about his interest in running for president. But he angered some democrats today with his latest comments to time magazine, where he said the partys nominee in 2020 better be a white male, like him, because when you have a white male making the arguments, they carry more weight.
