Five funerals today for two teachers and three children. The funerals for the victims are drawing in mourners from across the country. Yesterday hundreds showed up to remember School Principal dawn hochsprung who died trying to stop the shooter after he broke into the school last friday. The search for a motive behind the shootings is difficult. Investigators hope the computer and hard drive recovered at gunmans home would shed light on the reason for the massacre. But the 20yearold adam lanza deliberately smashed his Electronic Devices into so many small pieces that the fbi lab is unable to retrieve any data. Investigators will continue to search through lanzas cell phone and credit card records. Two bay area gun buybacks last weekend were so successful that one city needs more money to pay for it. People turned in about 600 firearms in oakland and San Francisco expecting 200 catch for each one. The San Francisco megaboys including had to hand out ious after handing back a12 weapons. The Santa Clara ValleyWater District approved the plan to fund the project aimed at improving dental health. San jose is currently the largest city in the country without fluoride in its water. It will take two years to complete. In other health news, british researchers say the commonly prescribed antibiotic amoxicyllin doesnt work to treat coughs and bronchitis. A new study looked at more than 2,000 adults with respiratory infections. Some received amoxicyllin, others a placebo. Researchers say there was little difference in how severe or long the symptoms lasted between the two groups. An aspirin a day over a long period of time may not be good for your eyesight. Researchers at the university of wisconsin warned people who used aspirin regularly for at least 10 years are more likely to experience blindness later in life. Scientists say the risk is small and that more research is needed. Well, many parents give their children milk because its loaded with vitamins that can keep the brain and bones healthy. But there could be a limit. Cbs reporter Tara Mergener reports why too much milk is bad. Reporter the Sherwood Family gets plenty of milk with their meals. Probably about two to three glasses a day. Reporter milk is a great source of vitamin d and calcium but a new study in the journal pediatrics finds too much may be a bad thing. Researchers looked at more than 1300 children ages 2 to 5 and found two cups of milk a day is enough to maintain vitamin d levels. More than that can affect iron levels. Excessive amounts of milk which was more like three to four cups a day or more was associated with increased level of [ indiscernible ] reporter getting enough iron is important for children because it plays a Critical Role in early brain development. Low iron can also increase your risk for anemia. Milk isnt the only way to get vitamin d. Fatty fish like salmon is a good source. So is the sun. The study points out some children with dark skin may need supplements because their bodies dont make enough vitamin d when exposed to sunlight. A lot.
