We still have struggles with housing, employment, housing. Transgender and especially transgender of color are still highly visible for murder, being murdered. You can leave your house and be murdered just because youre tran. What steps are being made . What can we do to help fix these issues. Well, we can always look out for each other, but also theres the notice that you want to let your Congress Person know and the people that have the powers to make change, make that change to support transgenders in all documentation. We have a transgenders that are illegal aliens that are being kept in mens cells. That has to change because theyre being raped and murdered. Were trying to make changes, and its happening all along. Its not enough. Its not quick enough for these people. What do you think that Caitlyn Jenner has done to the Movement Toward acceptance. Good question. Ive given that a lot of thought off and on, and i havent really come up with an answer. I think her visibility has helped other people kind of understand what Emotional Turmoil there must be for people coming in, facing their fathers about transitioning. There have been no sightings of him since he broke out of the prison. On friday afternoon, authorities shot and killed accomplice richard matt after they found him hiding behind a cabin. They met up with matt in the woods, challenged him, and he was shot dead by Border Patrol at that time. State police say matt refused to surrender and that they found a. 20 gauge shotgun on his body. Matt fired no shots during the altercation. You never want to see anyone lose their life, but i would remind people that mr. Matt was an escaped murder. Police assume sweat was armed. They set up a tight perimeter in malone, this was 30 miles from where sweat and matt escaped three weeks ago today. Sweat was serving a life sentence for killing a sheriffs deputy. Two employees face charges in connection with the escape. Police believe these two were together yesterday before matt was shot. The pair escaped from the prison on june 6th. Investigators say they cut through their cell wall, a brick wall with power tools before they emerged through a manhole outside the prison. New this morning, two people from the Central Valley were killed in a sightseeing plane crash in alaska. The plane crashed in steep mountainous terrain on thursday. All people were killed. Now, we still dont know what caused that plane to crash. Isis claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack on tourists in tunisian. It happened at a beach resort. 37 people were killed, including europeans. Police killed the gunman and others got away. A man hit gas canisters, causing an explosion. That man is in police kiddie. For emma jean clark, richmond is not just her home. Its the best city, the best weather, the best people. I love my city. She moved here 42 years ago and almost immediately became an integral part of many of the organizations in the city. She was a secretary at her local church and later became the first africanamerican female library director. Emma doesnt look at her various jobs as work. She sees them as a platform to help people. She works with all segments of the community. Shes more important, really, to the community than the elected officials. Emmas outreach began here at the richmond library. She saw it as a place to enrich her mind but a place where you can help change your life. The library, i feel, is a place to go when you dont know where to go. The library is one of the best kept secrets of any city. She began mentoring at risk youth and helped reunite a mother with her son. The lord gave me the gift of help. One of emmas most tangible contributions to the city was the establishment of a library and Museum Dedicated to her mentor, dr. Maddy mclaughlin. She was also known around the world as a religious humanitarian. She was a woman that loved god and loved gods people. A real people person. Attributes that people also used to describe emma herself. Shes such a great leader, and shes a good, great follower. Shes a mixer. She has enormous energy. And this is my son here.
