given the police their big break. >> reporter: acting on a tip today, police say that detained the man they say is their person of interest and another man whom they have provided no details. officers met them at public housing around 8:30 p.m. last night. >> there are many office you ares on the street--many officers on the street looking for the person. >> reporter: the police don't know who he is but the investigators are trying to determine if they have the man responsible. body parts found wednesday more and more in a near by crash can. the officerrers released these pictures of a person of interest, he could be a homeless man. it appears to be the same man another camera caught two blocks aqua. >> and he stopped. >> reporter: the police cam yesterday to see this video after looking thursday, marin reported its first two cases. and now many local pediatricians have to think of the health of other young patients. in marin cup, a doctor is refusing to treat anymore who not cross and salvation army. and estimated 57 people need food, clothing, and shelter. they are also going to help them find housing. but one family who lived in the mission neighborhood building for 17 eagle pilots are going complete their record breaking hot air balloon journey today. the flight started in japan and they have traveled 6500 miles and been in the air for more than 137 hours, breaking in some spots around the bay and rain returns late next week. and now a look at our highs today, because we are going to see a lot of upper 60s and low 70s. a lot of dead on 70-degrees there in the south bay. that is what we are expecting at our peak today and in the east bay, 69 in san ramon. 71-degrees in have a knee that is today. moving to the north bay, 72. 67-degrees, it is nice along the coast. so taking a look at the warm temperatures sticking and today and tomorrow, some clouds are building monday and tuesday and finally, we are going have a chance at rain on friday. and that chance is looking solid right now, we are almost a week away. but keep our hopes high for making a little bit of a dent in the drought. well, a woman is thankful she got a call from this tell marketer. journalism class, you would not guess that sabrina was homeless not that long ago. but she was, it was her first year of high school. >> i think our first reaction was we have nowhere to go because you know, we didn't. >> reporter: and yet she managed not to just stay in school. but in the international pack, which requires college level work. >> i think she knows to just keep doing the next right thing. she has dealt with problems non stop, the next one comes and she takes a deep breath, she thinks i can handle this. >> reporter: her teacher was shocked when she told her what was happening. her hard working mom was laid off from two jobs during the recession. >> so we went from motels to shelters. i went to friends houses where we were just separated for months. >> reporter: and then the tremors started. her mom was diagnosed with parkinson's. >> it was really hard to focus on what was important. everything was important and so big. >> it is the most extreme challenge, to not have a stable home or have parents to take care of you when things go wrong. students make a lot of mistakes and crucially there are a lot of people--and usually there are a lot of people to help out. i think she got up on her own, and carried someone. >> reporter: and they finery got a housing souper. her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer--voucher. her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. >> she said she is going to beat it. it was fine. >> reporter: her mother was the one who told her to focus on her education, the one ticket out. >> i could do so many great things and why let you know, this downfall ruin everything that i could be and i don't want to be that failure, i want to do something great. >> reporter: her mom is many remission now. this fall, she will the be first to the police say they do have a person of interest in custody about a torso of a human found in a suitcase on wednesday. varies put out a picture of that man and a restaurant owner spotted him on his video pulling a suitcase on wednesday afternoon. >> reporter: the footage, taken by the camera inside the restaurant looking onto howard street. >> it is creepy. >> that person of interest is a homeless man. the medical examiner is asking the state dna lab to help identify the remains believe today be those of a light skinned man. this year's flu season has reached its peak according to the cdc. it was one of the worst in years. >> reporter: if you are among the unlucky american whose got the flu this season, you can blame h3n2. it has a history of causing a two to three times higher death rate than normal and it changed just after production started on the vaccine this year. the result, vaccine that is only 23% effective. it is hitting older patients really hard and this season, 198 out of 100,000 people over the age of 65 have been in the hospital with flu related illnesses. that the highest numbers since 2005. that is because older people are usually at a disadvantage. >> they tend to have other diseases and also the immune system as we anal does not work as well. >> reporter: right now, the flu is widespread in all but six states, and all though the vaccine is not as good this year, health officials are still asking people to get vac fated. --vaccinated. it started in does live and- -in disney land and now measles are working to the bay area. yesterday, marin county reported its first two cases. one pediatrician in marijuana county is not treating anyone who was not vaccinated. he started the ban three years ago. >> we want today make sure that we--wanted to make sure that we didn't spread it in our office. >> marin county is well known for having a high number of unvaccinated children. doctors say that the parents are worried about the vaccines food, clothing, and shelter. and now one family who lived there for 17 years is trying to figure out what to do next. wednesday night they lost everything. >> [ inaudible - low volume ] condition that they cannot fly and they are almost blind and in a day or two, they will be dead. sally took us for a walk around her home. >> here is one over here. >> reporter: where she discovered the karakas every day. and scavengers. at first, it was just one or two a day. and now it is two dozen in two weeks. >> oh, it is just so sad to see their beaks and their eyes. it is not an easy ending. it is just like they are really suffering. >> reporter: many end up at the wildlife center of silicon valley. look and you can see the white legislations that swell up and block their throats. researchers believe it is called --is called [ inaudible ] and it is a bacteria. pigeons have been dying with it more and more since 1945. and this year is bad. a minimum of 200 to 300 have died the start of january. what is causing the sharp spike? it is likely the drought. they are force today cram into the same number of watering holes and feeding grounds, making it easier to transmit the bacteria. >> by the time that people find them, they are just so far gone because of the infection, there is really nothing we can do to help save the birders. >> reporter: will this become what researchers call a motherralty event? going--mortality event? it seems this is not over yet. kpix5. >> well, similar cases have been reported elsewhere. a man accused of stealing four chevrolet camaros is behind bars. he took them on monday. police arrived at his house where the man was arrested. all four of the cars had been found. one had already listen stripped. well, the fate of two isis hostages is unclear this morning after a deadline passed for a possible swap. authorities in japan and jordon are trying to find out what happened to the captives. >> reporter: this crossing at the border of turkey and syria is believe today be where the swap was supposed to take place but it never did as the deadline passed on thursday. the wife of a pilot held captive broke down in tears. militants threatened to kill the pilot if jordan did not release a priz prisoner--a prisoner who is being held on death row for a failed bombing attack. her husband blew himself up but her vest didn't detonate. nearly 60 part-time died, a day- -people died. isis is also holding a japanese journalist. supporters in tokyo held a vigil on friday to call for the safe return of the hostages and an u.s. official gave america's condolences to leaders. >> we are in solidarity with japan in every way that we can be. >> reporter: the terrorist group has not said what will happen to the man if the inmate is not released. cbs news. well, the drama started last week after isis militants released a video of two japanese captives and demanded japan to pay a $200 million ransom. well, the wine is back, but the mystery remains. dozens of expensive bottles of wine were returned after they were stolen on christmas day. a chef posted this to twitter saying very pleased to announce our stolen wine has returned to us undamage. 72 of the 76 bottles were returned, worth as much as $300,000. it was discovered in north carolina. no arrests have been made. at one point, a woman was clinging to life and today she reporter: rick got his first benefit concert going 2004. the headliner, lenny williams. rick formed the foundation in 2005. over the year, he has a fundraising rhythm, with things in december and a golf tournament in july. so far, keep music rocking has generated three quarters of a million dollars for instruments, music, equipment, and workshops. and all 11 schools benefit. >> we say rick, we have a need. and he is, you know, he comes through. >> reporter: not only has rick gotten big donors, he is also grateful for professionals on his advisory board, like this woman who secretly they have to sell themselves when people come marching through and he was not doing that. and you cannot blame him. >> i know, i would not want people to come in and look atone. >> and rejecting me. >> so you picked up and he is different in the foster home. >> yes, he is a ball of energy, he has a good sense of humor. he is living with three other dogs right now, so he is great with small dogs. we are not sure about big dogs. but he loves to go on hikes. he is very active. >> yes, and that is rare for spawler dogs because they get tired. >> yes, that is his little claim to fail. he would make a great dog for any family and somebody that loves to play, he would be great. >> and foster families are really important. >> yes, absolutely. you know, people want to know how help out but not commit to a dog full-time. fostering is amazing, it gets the dog out of the shelter and it helps you find a home, you dot no have to commit full- time. if you need to go out of town, you can. it is
