The couple of lanes in south san jose were blocked for several hours but as you mentioned everything is back open this morning. We have some video of what is left of the wreck. The chp says a subaru Station Wagon northbound on 101 before blossom hill road at 2 a. M. This morning, for whatever reason the driver veered off the road and hit a tree. There were no signs of skidmarks. No evidence that the driver tried to brake. The force of the impact nearly split the Station Wagon in half. It burst into flames. Then the trees caught fire. Good samaritans called nine one tried to stop and help called 911 tried to stop and help. Emergency crews couldnt get to the driver because of heat and flames kept them back. The driver was from washington state. They couldnt tell if the driver was male or female because it was burned beyond recognition. All lanes are open on south 101. Kiet do, kpix 5.
