Reporter in 11 pages of lawsuit the latest legal kick over the tug of war between the super bowl and soccer has been delivered. The Santa Clara Youth Soccer League is suing the city about handing their fields over to the nfl for free and the conditions that they will be returned in. League president says the city made the decision behind closed doors. Had we had a public hearing where we could have, you know, had a number of our board of director members or, you know, players or parents or whatever to let the council know what our concerns were, we probably wouldnt be here. Reporter he and others say the original plan for their fields wasnt a media center for 6,000 visiting press but a staging area for the halftime show. We thought it was going to be a light use but now its going to be used for a far greater, um, situation. Reporter parents and players are concerned that the plywood and stakes for a media center will hatch the pitch, potentially destroying the high quality gas and irrigation. When the soccer park is returned its not going to be returned in march. Its probably going to be, you know, returned sometime in april or may after everything is repaired and after the grass takes root and everything. Reporter and leave 200 youth soccer games without a home venue or any venue in sillicon valley big enough to handle the events. We dont have anywhere to play. Reporter the Soccer League has an alternate proposal, move the media center to the 49ers practice facility and leave their field as staging for the halftime show. Were confident that the nfl will work to get it back to us. The question is, when is it going to be playable . Because to return Something Back doesnt mean its playable. Santa clara youth soccer says what they would like to see happen is for the 49ers to be the Good Neighbors and voluntarily offer up their practice field for that media center. Stay tuned there. Some new video of a restaurant robbery in San Francisco. It shows the suspect smashing his way into the mcdonalds at mission and gutenberg november 8 in the middle of the night. Some of the employees still inside at the time. The suspect forced them all the way into the back of the restaurant and then made them empty the safe and the registers. Got away with about 1200 bucks. The employees were not hurt. People throughout the bay area are gearing up for tonights new years celebration. Barriers are going up along the embarcadero site of the regions largest public new years event. Police officers will be on patrol to deal with any rowdy revelers and traffic gridlock. Theres also extra security after the recent terror attacks in france and san bernardino. There are no specific local threats but police as usual are urging everybody to be on alert. Some newly released video shows a dangerous encounter for a Northern California police officer. A driver nearly ran her over on saturday. This is in marysville. Oh yeah, thats in yuba county. The officer was checking in on the driver oh, at the gas station there when she tried to get him out of the truck. He threw it in reverse as you can see there. Investigators say then shifted into drive and that is when the officer was right there thrown to the ground. She was not seriously hurt the suspect still at large this morning. And heres another close call. This one in napa. Police posted this video of a van running a red light, nearly hitting a motorcycle and then two other cars. This is where highway 12 meets highway 121. It is not clear when exactly that incident took place. Wow. Veteran Entertainer Bill Cosby free on a Million Dollars bail today after his arrest in pennsylvania. He appeared in the elkins park courtroom yesterday for an alleged Sexual Assault against a Temple University employee back in 2004. If convicted he could face up to 10 years in prison. He turned over his passport to the court and did not enter a plea. This case involves a woman and a man who had a consensual adult relationship over time. Dozens of women have recently said cosby took advantage of them sexually but in most cases the statute of limitations to file charges expired. So this is the first time cosby has been charged with a crime. Now, one of the alleged victims from san anselmo says cosby assaulted her in 1973 at a tennis tournament in pebble beach. The statute of limitations in california is 10 years so the deadline to file charges is long past. He came up behind me and rubbed his body up against the back of me and then reached his right hand over my right shoulder and grabbed my right breast. State senator connie leyva plans to introduce a bill that would eliminate statute of limitations for rape. These two are shoplifters with a sneaky m. O. He tries on a pair, hands it to her, she slipped it in her purse. He is bold. I mean, he he he sly guy. Reporter the couple seems to know exactly what theyre looking for, pocketing highend gucci and prada eyeglasses, even as employees stand just feet away. It took the thieves just a few minutes to steal 8 pairs of eyeglasses worth about 3,000. The doctor who owns the business says it wasnt until he watched the video himself that he realized there was something strangely familiar about the man in the video. A man walks into crest optometry in san jose this time with a different woman. They walk out with a purse full of glasses. We compared the two videos side by side and the resemblance is remarkable. Thats the guy. Thats our guy. Reporter the doctor has even heard of a third report back in 2013 of an attempted theft at a Mountain View optometrist possibly by the same man. Today Fremont Police could not confirm whether they have a serial thief on their hands but told us they are reviewing the videos and if caught the thieves could be look at grand theft charges. That includes putting more employees on the floor to spot shoplifters. The last time california was supposed to have a snow survey it was canceled because of no snow. But take a look at this.
