It broke out just before midnight at the vallejo Mobile Estates on san joaquin drive a double wide trailer fully involved in that fire. Flames coming out of two sides of the building. Crews made it a top priority to keep the fire from spreading to any neighboring units at the mobile home park. Took up defensive operations to protect the exposures. Ground operations took 30 to 40 minutes to get it under control. Significant exposure hazards as well as access to the interior. Everybody got out and nobody was hurt. All lanes are open on a stretch of 880 in the east bay after a sinkhole forced lane closures through most of the night. Southbound near oak street. Caltrans worked through the night with heavy equipment to replace the asphalt. Yesterday, a number of cars hit the hole as it widened so the chp had to shut down three lanes between broadway and oak. Heavy rain was likely a factor in causing that sinkhole to develop. The u. S. Military members killed in a Suicide Attack in afghanistan included a woman who helped break ground in the armed forces. It took hours to find the crash site in the rugged terrain. Investigators say the piper 32 was headed from the Placer County town of lincoln. It was headed to oakland when it went down about noon. Emergency Personnel Say that there was an emergency radio call. The pilot did report back to air Traffic Control that he was having engine trouble and that is the last information that was given to air Traffic Control. Searchers say visibility may have been an issue with low clouds and rain at the time. Family members of the planes owner, john sacco of rockland, have identified him as the pilot. His father told the u. S. Embassy he was afraid his son had been recruited. A Tour Bus Company is under scrutiny after a crash in San Francisco weeks ago. That doubledecker bus went out of corollas month injuring 20 people. Control, last month, injuring 20 people. 29 equipment problems included nonfunctioning emergency exists, seats not bolted down a leaky fuel tank and broken wheel fasteners. Reporter after this runaway bus careened through San Francisco, slamming into a union square construction site, the california Highway Patrol inspected the entire fleet of city sightseeing buses. A chp motor carrying specialist was in charge. Brake lights not functioning. Emergency exits not functioning. We had one steering issue. Reporter of the six buses he inspected he pulled four out of service. The report earned city sightseeing an unsatisfactory rating in several areas, including 45day inspections. The documents indicated any kind of issues or violations they would need correct. My inspections didnt indicate the same thing. Reporter among other problems a backup brake system that wasnt working on one bus. It was flagged but that was it. Not much we can do other than have him fix it. Reporter some of city sightseeings drivers didnt have proper licenses and couldnt be tracked if they had a major offense like a dui. The driver records werent the drivers, it was the company issue. Reporter Robert Cartwright is the attorney for the bus driver involved in the union square crash. He says the chps findings dont surprise him. Just shows in general the way that the Company Operates and they operate in a way that cuts corners when it comes to safety. The Company Released a statement that reads, in part, the chp review identified certain issues that they have directed us to resolve. We resolved all vehiclerelated matters right away with most issues being fixed on the day of the inspection. We have instituted operational changes to our internal processes to ensure future compliance. City sightseeing has 120 days to fix all the problems, otherwise the chp could revoke its license. It happened just before two monday morning two people are behind bars after people were injured outside a san leandro nightclub around 2 a. M. Monday morning outside club caliente. The two people responsible were arrested yesterday. Investigators think that one of the suspects was preparing to leave the state to get away. Everybody were patrons of the bar that night. What were trying to narrow down is what happened inside, what happened outside to start this fight. We think there were some words exchanged. We dont know how much alcohol was involved, if any, but there was some sort of altercation in the parking lot that led to the shooting. The four people hurt are expected to survive. Today lawyers for the family of an oakland girl declared braindead are heading back to court. Relatives of jahi mcmath are filing a new federal lawsuit. She was ruled braindead two years ago following complications from tons of surgery. Family members are asking the courts to declare that jahi is alive. Earlier this month the girls father filed a lawsuit against the hospital and doctor involved in the operation. About 1500 young soccer players are going to need a new place to play for about two months all because of super bowl 50. The president of santa clara youth soccer says he just learned last week that the nfl is going to use the field as a village for 6,000 members of the media. Santa Clara City Council member lisa gillmor is among those upset about the plan. She says the fields have special grass and it could take months before the kids can play on it again. Obviously, the soccer community doesnt trust what they say in terms of bringing the soccer park back to usable situations. The super bowl offered the nfl use of all cityowned facilities near levis stadium. Some homeowners in santa clara are about to get a windfall, getting refund checks to more than 200 Property Owners in gilroy. They were improperly assessed and and paid more than they had to on property taxes. Some will get up to 30,000. The coho salmon are going upstream. The creeks were filled with salmon from the rain. The coho typically spend two years at sea before returning to the freshwater homes. But the fish are under the threat of extinction because of, what else, california drought. Westbound traffic on the Altamont Pass is looking okay just a brief delay from the 205 interchange and thats it. By and large a nice start to the morning commute again just that very small delay just as you approach the Altamont Pass. 580 continues light through the Livermore Valley with no delays heading down the dublin grade so all of that earlier roadwork we had at the dublin interchange has been cleared out. There is a wind advisory though its windy out there. Chp is warning of the winds along the san mateo bridge especially in those high profile vehicles. All lanes are now open. Traffic is flowing well in both directions for 880 through oakland. If you plan to head up to the high sierra, there are chain restrictions on all major roads leading there. They are gradually filling up with the rains. Heres a look at the lexington reservoir near los gatos. Even though the levels are slowly rise its still low about 80 of normal for this time of the year even in a wet year this reservoir looks low. But it is a different story in the north bay.
