Police say a woman was kidnapped in vallejo and is possibly being held for ransom right now. 30yearold Denise Huskins was taken early yesterday on kirkland avenue on mare island. Her car was found at another location. Fbi has now been called in for help. But people are not saying why they think there could be a ransom. Huskins is a physical therapist at Kaiser Hospital in vallejo. Well have more on this story coming up in a live report in our next halfhour. A kidnap suspect is behind bars this morning thanks to a quickthinking of a high school student. Turns out she wasnt the only target, too. The girl was walking alone on lone tree way in antioch yesterday morning to deer valley high says the man offered her a ride and she fled. After police put out the word another girl stepped forward. She says the same thing happened to her last month. 21yearold man is now in custody. This morning, San Francisco police are searching for an escaped prisoner. The man broke free at about 8 45 last night as sheriffs deputies were moving in the area of fifth and folsom streets. He is latino 54 with long hair. He ditched his jail issued orange jumpsuit and was wearing blue boxers underneath. The suspect had been arrested nine months earlier on a weapons charge. Young mother is dead after being crushed by 20 tons of gravel in martinez. A truck tipped over and dumped the gravel on the womans car on shell avenue yesterday. Christin ayers has the very latest now from the scene. Reporter a martinez womans body carried away from the scene of a deadly accident. Contractors told us construction crews were helping lindsey back out of her driveway when a dump truck tipped 20 pounds of gravel on her car crushing her. Sound like two cars went 80 miles an hour head on in the intersection. Reporter the images from chopper 5 show the damage. A neighbor and others tried to save her even using a backhoe to rip her car door off but it was too late. Thats when the cops were pulling up and took her pulse and determined she was dead. She really loved her daughters. Just a very caring sweet person. Reporter her 4yearold daughter was standing in the driveway and saw it. Family members confirmed lindsey was also 7 weeks pregnant with her second chiles. Her Brother Robert combs told me its an accident that could have been avoided had workers taken the right precautions. We learned crews had been working on these streets on a City Improvement contract subcontracted out to private Companies Including gregs trucking. The owner said the man who was driving the truck had been working for him for 25 years had an accident and was on the verge of retirement. He said it was a freak accident. A terrorizing experience for an elderly woman and her caregiver. A burglary suspect broke into her palo alto home. What followed yesterday was a twohour standoff on elsinor drive. As it unfolded, the woman, in her 90s, and her helper escaped the home without injury. After several attempts to talk the man out police and s. W. A. T. Teams went in. He was safely apprehended and we have concluded this in a safe manner no shots fired. The man was taken into custody inside the garage. We have had folks moving in from out of the area cutting down trees, diverting streams, using toxic chemicals and growing cannabis primarily for other areas of california. Reporter but this man whose wife depends on medical marijuana to manage the symptoms of multiple sclerosis says he believes the countys crackdown is miss guideed. To outlaw their commercial operations will damage the patient and if my wife cant get that then i have to turn into an illegal guy and, you know, that seems wrong. Reporter the county insists its goal is not to shut down dispensaries but critics warn the plan may leave those businesses without a legal and reliable supply of marijuana. Reporter with the family of alice brown watching San Francisco police chief greg suhr released details into tuesday nights officer involved shooting at pine and van ness. The official narrative that brown tried to back over plainclothes officers in a stolen zipcar and took off hitting multiple cars and driving up on the sidewalk before officers fired the fatal shots but that story was challenged by people who said they were there. One of first cars she hit was bumper cars, i was terrified. What you said was not true, its not true reporter a crowd tired of officerinvolved shootings in the city were vocal in their officers to the police chief and the department. [ screaming ] [ inaudible ] quit your job, retire maam, maam, you had a question . Reporter alices family retained the office of bay area civil rights attorney john burruss to investigate her death. There is some suggestion that the officers had not properly identified themselves as officers and were plainclothes officers and thus them she was frightened. Supreme Court Justices are deciding whether police should take special precautions if they know a suspect is mentally ill. A ruling is expected this year. A debate is heating up around whether homes on the market should have woodburning fireplaces. The bay area air Quality Management district has created a proposal that would force homeowners to retrofit their homes with gas fireplaces if they are selling to reduce the public exposure to smoke but it can cost 3,000 or more for the retrofit. The cliff she was standing on collapsed at arch rock near point reyes. Chopper 5 flew over whats left of the trail. You can see that gaping hole down there. Mark kelly on how friends are remembering a dedicated teacher. Reporter friends of nancy blum call her mary poppins, say she was awesome woman who cherishe children. The preschool closed grieving her unexpected death. It literally collapsed. Reporter saturday evening at point reyes nancy with her boyfriend at her side was hike the scenic bear valley trail. It was here a wellknown lookout called arch rock where the trail under their feet suddenly collapsed sending the two of them plummeting 70 feet down a sheer cliff. Nancy died before even getting to the hospital, says a parks spokesman. I have never seen something where the ground has just collapsed under somebodys feet. Reporter days earlier when cracks started appearing long the trail park Officials Say they put up these signs warning hikers that the cliffside was brittle. The area underneath where people was standing was probably eroded. Reporter those who knew nancy are upset saying warning signs were not enough. The trail should have been closed. Its closed now.
