Investigation this morning. A train involved in the crash findly made it to the amtrak station in oakland very early the morning. Kpix 5s ryan takeo is live there with more. Good morning. Reporter hi frank. Passengers say about 40 maybe 50 passengers got off here at the Jack London Square station just a couple of hours ago. Just about 3 30. It was supposed to be here at about 10 00 last night. The three mile stretch from the collision site to here. Its supposed to take a matter of minutes. Instead it took hours as police investigated. Heres video from the scene. It happened just after 10 00 last night on 50th street. Thats where it started. But in oakland fire battalion chief says the amtrak train dragged the suv seven blocks before it stopped at high street. The driver of the suv died and no one on the train was injured. It was coming from l. A. And heading towards seattle and it was just about three miles from the oakland station. The passengers waited for five hours as investigators looked into the scene. Stopping in a hurry. You could smell the burning from the brakes and then the conductor came on and made the announcement we had hit something. Start today get upset and i realized that someone had a much much worse night than i did. So just you know, few hours here and few hours there. Reporter so some folks some passengers did have some connection problems. Not getting their buses heading into San Francisco. And to other areas. This is the trough its sagging to the south. And as it does so, its enhancing the marine layer and its really encouraging that westerly wind. Thats an on shore push 10 to 15 miles an hour. The cooler air reaching inland where temperatures are even out of the triple digits.
