It was a day of terror in the streets of stockton where three people were killed in a deadly gun battle. Hundreds of shots were fired as Police Chased robbery suspects and their hostages yesterday afternoon. Kpix 5s anne makovec joins us now in the newsroom with the latest information. Reporter Stockton Police say the investigation into this robbery chase and gunfight is likely to be active and lengthy and the that the events basically put the entire community at risk. Reporter gunshots ricocheted off the getaway suv. The suspects in stockton and Police Exchange a barrage of bullets. A neighbor captured the final moments on his cell phone. Inside the vehicle, three bank robbery suspect, one dead, another died later. And one hostage was killed in the shootout. Family and friends identify her as misty holt sing a wife and mother, a Bank Customer in the wrong place at the wrong time. One of three women taken by gunpoint from the bank. Two employees and a customer from this bank of the west. Jose maldonado witnessed the kidnapping and getaway in one of the hostages suv. They were petrified. Their faces were white, they were just so scared. Reporter police say the suspects were shooting at them with this ak47style rifle. They let police on an hour long highspeed chase covering both major freeways and surface streets. Stockton police chief eric jones they were trying to kill our Police Officers. Reporter Bullets Hit Police cars, civilian cars and even peoples homes. They went up and down hammer lane because my motherinlaw could hear the shots from the back of the house. Reporter Police Say Two hostages were either thrown from or jumped out of the suv. Sadly, the third hostage did not. Several agencies are involved in this investigation. Police havent released the names of the suspected robbers in the case. A San Francisco supervisor admits he had an affair with his top aide. John avalos apologized for the relationship. He separated from his wife this year. And they have two children. A yahoo executive is now responding to a Sexual Harassment lawsuit filed by a former employee. The executive says she has been defamed. Yahoo says its standing behind the executive now and will fight to clear her name. The employee said she received a poor Performance Review and was eventually put on leave and then terminated because she refused sexual overtures. Dumbarton bridge traffic should be normal today after an incident that caused chaos yesterday afternoon. An eastbound truck was billowing with smoke when a cop pulled it over. There was a concern because inside the truck flammable batteries. Fire crews called in and the smoke was put out. The fire. But apparently no big fire just a bunch of smoky mess inside. Two lanes of the bridge though were blocked for about an hour backing up traffic for miles. So the last couple of days its been tough sledding for commuters on the san rafael bridge and, of course, down on the dumbarton, as well. No kidding. Hows it looking now, elizabeth . The dumbarton is looking great. We dont often hear about the dumbarton bridge for the morning commute. And right now, things moving like clockwork so, yeah, they got the issue resolved and everything is fine both directions of 84 out of menlo park. If you are commuting its neighboring bridge thats westbound 92 and so far that is about a 14minute drive time out of hayward heading to foster city. All clear there and all clear as far as that macarthur maze roadwork goes. Yeah, that was cleared actually around 4 a. M. And right now this is what it looks like approaching the bay bridge toll plaza. Cruising right along all lanes cash and fastrak. It really backed up quick yesterday, though. I got to say, they switched on those metering lights about a halfhour from now at 5 45 and that was it. The commute was on so if you want to beat the rush heading into San Francisco, leave now. Statewide if you are heading anywhere around the state of california today, it looks like we do have some thunderstorm activity in throughout the greater lake tahoe area and also in yosemite. It is a thicker onshore push today. In fact that marine layer at this particular time is roughly about 2,000 feet deep. So we do have some condensation in the form of drizzle along the immediate seashore. Well have partial clearing of the skies in the city by the bay. The city of San Francisco at 65. Slightly cooler today than yesterday there. And down from the average high of 68 degrees. Were talking away from the bay fullon sunshine, 70s and low and mid80s. In fact, the extended forecast does call for temperatures outside number today, cloverdale ding, ding, ding, youre the winner at 85 degrees. Otherwise, low 80s around the trivalley. West winds at 15. Gaga took some heat back in april for filling up the 356,000gallon pool at Hearst Castle for a video shoot and that water was later recycled. Wow. Beautiful pool though. Well, a summertime in the bay area means a lot of people head to the water including, of course, the kids. So San Franciscos department of recreation and parks is teaching them all about sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking. The camp is this weeks cool school. Reporter summertime is a busy time at lake merced in San Francisco. Stay to the right of me. Reporter the citys recreation and Parks Department offers 60 different weeklong summer camps but the most popular are the aquatic camps. An Adventure Sports camp, they get to hike, paddle and sail. In surf camp they surf four days a week and kayak one. You get nothing but smiles. They learn that, you know, youre going to have a wet bottom sometimes and thats okay. Reporter after some safety training, the campers are quickly out on the water. When youre little and you have your own boat or vessel or board and you can determine where you want to paddle or where you get to go or what you want to do, they just love that. Reporter they were loving the water so much, we had to get in a kayak just to talk to them. How are you doing . Pretty good. Just a little bit im not good at kayaking. Reporter have you ever been kayaking before this camp . Yes. Yeah. Reporter what do you love about it . Uhm, that you go fast. Reporter there are even some who prefer water to land. When youre on the water, theres less loud noises and you dont have to worry about tripping. I like, uhm, paddle boarding with everybody and falling in. Reporter you like falling in . Yup. Reporter why . Because its fun. Reporter and thats just what he did. Its fun, and since San Francisco is surrounded on three sides by water, lake merced is a good location to learn how to navigate the water. Its all about teaching everyone to learn to swim, how to be safe on the water and then really how to enjoy this beautiful gift we have here in the bay area. Maybe the best line ever. You know, its a great place because you dont have to worry about tripping. He was great. But yeah, they love being on the water. Of course. Its a sense of independence and freedom with these kids.
